October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

Robin,

I don't have enough posts under my belt to pm you so here is a post for you instead.

Thanks, Charlie Tuna:yay:

Becky

I am trying the pecan cheesecake recipe. It has 20 minutes left of cooling in the oven. I can not wait to eat it. Maybe tomorrow. It smells so yummy

Becky

We are so bad. Scott and I could not wait any longer to eat the cheesecake. It had been in the oven cooling for the full hour. But then we decided to try it before putting it in the fridge. I would not recommend it but Scott loves it. I think it still needed to set up some. Either cook a little longer or be in the fridge for a while.

Scott asks where the next recipe?

Rose

We are so bad and doing things when we say we will. We did not work on our book last night. We had better things to do, "practicing". Tonight we were going to work on it but I think I am just going to head up to bed and ask for a back rub. My back has been killing me. So we will try again next week.

HELP

We need parenting advice please. We have run out of things to try. Mackenzie has only slept through the night one time since we have been back from the trip. Before the trip she always slept for about 10 to 11 hours without getting up. Then she would get up and crawl in bed with us to watch tv or go downstairs to watch tv.

When we got home she saw a comercail on Disney channel about Vampires and Kyle was talking about monsters. Since then she keeps telling us she is having bad dreams. I really don't know if she is or not. When she used to have them she would lay in bed calling for me. Now she gets out of bed anywhere from 2 times to 4 times a night. Sometimes she heads straight downstairs other times she comes into bed with me. She will scream if we try to put her back in her bed. But we do it anyways and she lasts about an hour, then she is back again.

She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00. She gets up about 12:30 for the first time and then it is about every hour or two after that.

We don't know what to do. We have tried a few things and nothing seems to work. Can anyone give us any advice.

Keep posting everyone...

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready for this thread to end. I think we've built some lasting friendships. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I agree, its really slowing down and I DONT LIKE IT:sad1: - I log on every morning and only have a page to read - it used to be 15 pages :sad2:

Hopefully our new kk2 thread will be open soon:yay:

Ellis sort of went through this too. The only thing we did was calmly chat to him once he was in his room and ask him where he though the monsters could hide etc, then we'd look all round his room in cupboards etc and say "Nope, no monsters there" til all the places were gone. Then we'd make sure we read him a happy book and nothing spooky or scary and say that the book had put happy dreams into his head. It took a while, but he got over it.

The best thing is to reward her when she stays in her room. Tell her she'll get a little treat if she stays in her room all night - wrap up something small and put it in sight - a visual treat works wonders (ie bribe her:lmao: !)

good luck... she'll grow out of it eventually but its hard work during the time. You could always get her to draw her "monsters" and then throw them away!

Cass - loved Kiras birthday piccies - thanks for posting:thumbsup2

Loved the box one:lmao: - isnt it always the way they want the box rather than the gift.

Oh - forgot to say - I earned $120 yesterday at my toy sale:yay: - converts to 2 nintendo wii games:banana:  - well chuffed!

Santa will be very generous this year:goodvibes

Also managed to get all the Ben 10 figures now - paid 4x the price on ebay but what the heck:rolleyes: - he'd better play with them now:lmao: - or they'll be in the next toy sale:lmao:

have a great day folks.

I'm off to the gym today - quick class then swim, and then back home to defrost the freezer and while thats doing I'm painting the 2nd lot of skirting and arcitrave in the dining room, then the alarm man is coming to service the alarm, then the school run and then off to swimming lesson - great day eh!

Thomas did this too...and I agree with Karen about the rewards.

We're still doing this - we have a sticker chart. If Thomas stays in his bed all night, he gets a sticker. 5 stickers and he gets to go to the "goodie basket" and pick a prize. I just made a plain graph in Word with squares on it for the chart - I could even email it to you if you want.

With regards to the monsters, I wouldn't discount her thoughts on that. Thomas was having a "monsters in my room" period too, and we told him the monsters were scared of our cats, so they wouldn't come in to his room anymore. I've also read on a parenting website about filling a water spray bottle and spraying "monster repellant" in the room before the child goes to bed. Of course, you're the best judge to know if Mackenzie is to old to believe it or not :)

Good luck....:grouphug:

Does anyone know where I can find the menus from our cruise? I don't mean the physical menus, I just want to put the correct name with each picture in my scrapbook. Jeff had them before we went--anyone know where he found them?

I have them all - sort of took them! What info do you need from them?

Oh - forgot to say - I earned $120 yesterday at my toy sale:yay: - converts to 2 nintendo wii games:banana:  - well chuffed!

Well done Karen.

Been busy but I finally got some pics on photobucket...

Those are great ideas. We have tried the look around every where one and she says that monesters are sneaky. One minute they won't be there and the next they will be.

We did good last night. She only got up one time. It was about 5:00 am. Not to bad. She crawled in bed, still tired so Scott got up and took her back to bed kicking and screaming. He stayed in there until she calmed down.

I really don't think it is the monsters that are doing it. At the begining maybe. We have tried the whole they are scared of our dog and she won't let them in but that did not seem to work.
I have done the whole spray thing also and that did not work.

I think we will need to brib her.
