October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

:goodvibes
Santa doesn't wrap gifts at our house. Last year, Alex asked why Santa wraps for some kids and not for others. I told him (thinking quickly) that parents have to pay Santa extra for that, and we didn't have enough money for that. I went on and on about how daddy works for "Uncle Sam" and he doesn't get paid enough, blah, blah, blah. Once I went on that rant, I think even the bigger kids believed me..... Santa wraps the gifts at my mom's in Louisiana. It's funny bec/ he never wrapped gifts when I was a kid. Of course I had to explain to my kids that Granny pays Santa extra and she couldn't when I was a kid bec/ we were 4 kids in the house so they had less money..... Rob just watches all this conversation and later tell me, "You're so good at telling stories."

:thumbsup2 ;) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You're very clever Paige!

2 Nights of sleep. She stayed in her room all night again. She was up by 6:00 but I can handle that one.

Good for you Carrie!:thumbsup2 :cool1:

I'm sure you all won't agree with this one, but my son didn't sleep in his room all night until he was almost 13!

I was terrible at enforcing it and since I was so scared as a kid(I snuck into my Grandma's bed.... we lived with her..... every night after my mom went to work on the night shift..... did this till I was 12 too!)..... so I couldn't force my son either or trick him..... I just empathized with him so badly.....

Guess from what I've heard from other parents that it seems pretty common for single mothers to do that
Sean had 2 friends that when I spoke with the moms they told me their son's still slept with them and they were 12 too!

One single mother told me that when her 3 kids come home from college.... 2 twin girls and a boy that they all snuggle on mom's bed for a nap every now and then....

now.... I can't imagine that...

but I guess we're all different!

So, Carrie, don't think you have it so bad yet! Mackenzie is only 5!

This could be the topic of discussion for the day! :rotfl:

In our house, Santa keeps us guessing! Santa fills the stockings, and whatever doesn't fit in the stockings is placed on the hearth directly under the appropriate stocking. Some items get wrapped, and some items are left unwrapped.

Oh, and Sean believed...... or at least he was trying hard to keep believing .....
until he was 12 or 13!

That is my plan for next year. I am so picky with the lights that I don't want the strands showing. I am hoping that I can pick one up and Target when we clearance them this year.

Last year we upgraded to led lights for the tree and I am not impressed. They are blinding first of all and they get really hot.

I bought a pre-lit one about 3-4 years ago.

2 years ago, only some of the lights were working and I kept trying to find the bad ones, but gave up and put more strands on the cover the bare spots.

Last year so many weren't working that I untied all those pre-lit ones and put all new strands on, so don't think those pre-lit trees are all that great.

Can I join you on the gainer table. No one ever thinks about the ones who want do gain weight. I know you don't want to, but I thought it was a cute thought. I am still holding even at triple digits. I am 101. I lost 2 pounds since the cruise. Scott within a week was right back to his precruise weight.

Great job Carrie:thumbsup2
Scott too!

Bob and I both lost that cruise gain within a week or two.

But since I lost it after the cruise, I've now gained 2 lbs back again:headache:
Yuck! I hate my weight!
But I'm so tired and lazy to exercise:sad2:

3 nights of sleep. She is doing great.

Now we will see how tonight goes. She is not feeling to well and I gave her some medicine. She has been asleep since 4:30 in her bed. She went up as a time out and when she didn't come down I went to check on her and she was sound asleep. She has been that way for an hour now. I hope it does not effect her sleep tonight.

Becky

Have you ever made the pecan pie cheesecake without the grahm cracker crust since the pie already has a crust?

So I finally got a copy of my moms pictures from the trip. Would you believe she took 375 pictures. I had no idea that she was that active this trip. Let alone she has pictures of our kids that I had no idea about so I am wondering how she did that. Well I did not order all of her but I just spent another $30 in pictures. So grand total for pictures so far $100.00

I just sold my hutch that was in my kitchen. An easy $40. That is going to be put in my coin jar for the DL trip.

Oh speaking of which I have save in our savings account enough to pay for 4 nights of our hotel. Just 2 more nights to go. This has just been with the left overs each pay check. Scott has not worked OT yet to help pay for the trip. I really don't think he will need to because our tax return should help also. But I would like to pay down some of our debt. That would be a great thing for us to do.

Mackenzie's teacher just called me. She has never done this. But she wanted to know if I could volunter at their Christmas gift shop. She said when the prinicpal said they still needed parents to volunter that she told them she would check with me. I thought that was so sweet. I get to be there all day. 9-11 for this gift shop, 12:00-1:00 for Mackenzie class 1:00 - 2:00 for birthday books and then 2:00-3:00 for Mackenzie's class.

oh darn that interfears with my yearly dr. appointment. Well I guess I will just have to reschedual that one. :cool1:

Whoops nope wont be trying that one. Scott does not like candy canes. But speaking of cheesecake I think I will get some right now.

Well the candy canes are just on the top, so you could just omit them. OOO you know what would be good on that, crushed english toffee.

Did you see the other ones that they had listed? One of them was for fried cheesecake from Paula Deen, looked interesting

Becky

No, I'm not sure if it would work as the pie would have to totally fill the bottom of the pan. Hey but go for it and let me know how it works, just put some tin foil around the bottom of the pan in case of leakage

I did not look at the other recipes on there. I will have to go back and do that when I am done listing on ebay for the night. I love most of Paula Deans stuff.

You do have a point with the pan leaking. I might not try that.

My little angel just woke up came down and asked where daddy was. I told her he went to work and she said oh, I will still go to bed at my normal time mommy I don't feel well, can I watch Disney until bed.

Talk about my heart melting.
