Steve

Great job on the headstones:thumbsup2 Here in upstate N.Y. people go all out decorating for Halloween. I also took a look at your Christmas decorations they are great! Usually at Christmas time here TV stations to home with the best diplays and show the after the news. Do they do the same your way? Do you decorate the inside of your house as well. Last year there was a lady here who had 28 trees fullly decorated in her house.
LL
Looks great

Thanks. I couldn't believe that they turned out the way they did. I kept thinking I would muck them up somehow.

I wish I could do things like that. I am such a perfectionist that I would drive myself nuts doing something like that.

Off to bed. Everyone have a good day and night. I will try to get on tomorrow before we leave. We will have no internet for the weekend.:sad2:

How about the beauty of Meghan's Bay (St. Thomas)? One of the top 10 beaches in the world.

We went there last Sept and it was beautiful. The sea was so warm. We did get rather burnt though.

Heather......love all the pics. What is ICE? :confused3 It looks cold!!!!!:santa:

If you go to Orlando around Christmas time, The Gaylord Palms Hotel has an exhibition called ice, which is full of ice carvings. It was lovely, but very cold. You have these big thermal coats given to you to wear. It made christmas even more special.

I come to you with a heavy heart.

Remember the motorcycle accident I told you about last week? It was our Godson. His mom called us tonight to tell us what happened. When I realized it was the accident that Chuck and I saw, I thought I was going to throw up.

He has massive brain injuries and is in a coma. He also has a broken hand, a broken shoulder, a fractured spine, a ruptured spleen, a puntured lung and numerous other internal injuries. He has had 3 surgeries already.

I had such a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach for the last week. I wanted to call the police dept to see if they could tell me how the young man was. I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Now I know why.

There was so much blood on his face the night of the accident that I didnt even recognize my own Godchild.

Please pray for Spencer. He is only 19 years old.

Thank you everyone.

Thats dreadful news Nancy :grouphug: :grouphug: from the UK

Holy freaking beer?? IS that a beer Rick is holding?? Gotta love them chicken strips!!

Cass - the Dis group that we met up with last year had a thing about 14oz Keg cups, so we bought one from Target. It was great for the beverage station but very heavy with ice and drink in.

Heather, just watched the video. Great job!!! :thumbsup2 Looks like you guys had a blast!! How cold was it exactly?? You look like you are really bundled up!

What program does Rick use for editing his videos??

It ended at 4 minutes, was it supposed to?

It was cold on the Glacier and when we went crusing down Edicott Arm - not sure of the temps, though. It just felt very cold. Rick uses Adobe Premier for his videos. Very similar to AVID, which he had used in the past for work. Yes, the video only last 4 minutes.

Here we go. These or not Dis related but I thought they were pretty so I am posting them. Sorry

Has anyone ever been here?

Yes, me, me - its Yosemite Park with Half Dome in the background

Okay...this is the last one.

Heather can you hire these things?...:confused3

Unfortunately, I took more pics our first time before we had DS. We didn't buy a digital camera until he was born.

Here are pictures of the hotel's swimming pool (actually pools, because the one in the foreground is separate than the other. Then there is the children's pool - close up pics at the end). I don't have the jacuzzi pics, but it is one of the biggest jacuzzi I've seen at a hotel.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: What is all this about?...:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

PHOENIX -- A woman in Apache County is battling an infection of the plague, and state health officials are warning the public that the disease appears to be on an upward trend in the state and more cases are likely.

The human case is the first reported in the state since 2000, said Craig Levy, vector borne disease program manager with the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The human case follows the discovery of an outbreak of the disease in prairie dogs in Flagstaff last month, Levy said Thursday. More importantly, the distance between the cases indicate the disease has become more active in the state's higher elevations.

"We know we have some plaque issues now in two north counties, which makes us think we may be getting into another one of these plague cycles, which means it may be popping up from time to time," Levy said. "What we don't want people to think is that it is just localized in two areas. The point is, plague activity can show up in any of the high areas of Arizona."

The disease is confined to the state's higher elevations, generally about 4,500 feet, so the state's desert areas are not generally affected.

The state has had 48 cases of human plague in the past 30 years, with 8 fatalities.

Since the state's last human case in 2000, a drought and high summer temperatures have kept the disease at low levels.

Arizona health officials have been particularly wary about a plague outbreak because of greater activity in New Mexico and other nearby states in the past year, Levy said.

Plague can be contracted from fleas, rodents or other infected animals, and people were being warning to avoid contact with animal burrows and stay away from dead animals. Hunters and others who work with game should take precautions such as wearing rubber gloves while skinning animals, and cooking meat thoroughly to kill any plague, or a related disease known as tularemia or rabbit fever.

They also should take steps to prevent their pets from roaming, and to treat their pets with flea killers, because they can bring infected fleas home.

"Pets basically turn into flea buses, essentially," Levy said.

Privacy laws prevented Levy from releasing much specific information about the Apache County woman who is ill with the plague.

He said she began having symptoms early this month and the case was confirmed through laboratory testing Wednesday.

Generally, people ill with the disease require hospitalization.

Plague killed millions in Europe in the Middle Ages and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counts 10 to 15 human case a year in the United States.

Symptoms in humans generally appear within two to six days following exposure and include fever, chills, headache, weakness, muscle pain and swollen lymph glands in the groin, armpits, or limbs. The disease can become septicemic, which means it spreads through the bloodstream. It also can become pneumonic, which affects the lungs.

The disease can be spread from human to human when it is in the pneumonic stage. Cases are treatable with antibiotics, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that up to 50 percent are fatal if the disease causes pneumonia.

The nice thing about this project is that the gravestones are supposed to look old and beat up. As a result, the more imperfect the better. My brother is much like you, he drives himself crazy with small details. I wish that I had more of that in me, but I've found that a liberal use of bondo can often cover up the most heinous of mistakes.

Steve - love the gravestone - remind me of haunted mansion. I wonder why???;) :rotfl:

No one else here at the moment? No one lurking wanting a quick chat???

Must be just me then. O well...I'll go and print off Cass's who who page then as no one wants to talk to me :sad1:

Yep, I definately ripped them off. I thought about thinking up some clever things to put on the stones, but finally decided that it was going to take me too lone ( the gears don't move that quickly anymore) and went with some Disney epitaphs.
