Scott here... What a great memory. I have some of those 8mils floating around here. I just do not know how to go about getting them saved to another form of media.

there's a couple of places here in town that does the transfer. I picked one that is co-owned by a friend of mine. His wife did the editing. Since she had no point of reference, the films are all jumbled up. But she did a wonderful job of splicing. They don't jump at all! They gave me a VHS to give to my Mom and a set of digital masters. I have another friend that edits film for people and he transfered the master to a mini-DV tape that I was able to input into my computer.

It would be nice to get mine transfered, I just do not recall what is on them. I know there is one of my uncle whipping out water skiing at Lake Shasta. Is it better to go with dvd's or vhs or cd-roms?

Between the three, choose DVD. Do not go VHS. Too much signal loss. I found from my own attempts at editing in my 20's that, it does not take too many generations (like 3 or 4) before it is just unwatchable. Make sure that you get a digital master tape for Archiving. I really liked having the Mini-DV because it allows me to edit my own and burn them onto DVD by myself.

Nope. I thought about it for a while. A verandah would be nice. But, I decided that if I have extra money I'd rather put it down on another cruise.

good choice. I think if we had to do it over again, we would drop down a cat or two.

I was thinking of putting some money down on a dummy date, then if Disney goes back to Europe, I would have the date moved to then. I really wanted to take the family to Europe, that may be a good way to do it.

Yeah. We'll probably go Cat 11 or 10 gty next time. I don't much care about the room too much. I thought the kids would get a kick out of the large window.

thanks, I will have to do some checking into after the trip. And of course find them also.

We were thinking the next time we cruise with all the kids, that we would do a inside for the kids and an outside for us, but lower down. We did an inside for the Alaska cruise and it was not that bad. It took me a day or so to get used to no window, but after that it was no problem.

I've heard that w/o the window, a good alarm clock is a necessity! If I would have thought about it more, I would have probably gone Inside on this cruise, only because such a dark room would have eased putting my daughter down for a nap. She doesn't do them much anymore, but I figured that the cruise would wear her out more than normal. Besides, she'll be staying up later than normal as well.

Carrie, thanks for sharing all those wonderful old photos!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2 Great job!
