The good thing about seeing this is it really made an impression on Rachel. She still laughs at how foolish these people looked. Hopefully she will remember that when she goes to college!

It DOES sound funny Cheryl. I would have loved to see that!!:lmao:

According to DCL's website the following Cat 6's are available (using 2 adults and 1 child age 7):

5122
6126
6128
6130
6598
6626
6628
6632

So there are at least 15 now.

I have for one of my previous cruises actually went through ALL of the rooms from Cat 4 down to Cat 8 to see what was available. If I get a chance I will try to do that again. What needs to be done is put in EVERY Cat 6 room number and see if it comes up.

I do remember that year we got upgraded from a Cat 9 to a Cat 7. Other people were going from Cat 9 to Cat 6. Being SPH Cat 10, I don't think we'll get one this time.

The upgrades came in early December for the 3rd week in January, so if we see them, they will come around September 1st. After the auto upgrades, nothing was available at the port.

OK, so I decided not to do some work tonight and instead look for available rooms on our cruise. Now I won't get them all done, but will start with the two easiest with balanconies (Cat 7, 30 total rooms, and 4, 80 total rooms). I'll try to get Cat 5 (114 total rooms) and Cat 6 (138 total rooms) done in the next week or so.

Here are the available Cat 7's:

5136
5138
5140
5632
5636
6642
7626

7 total out of 30.

Wow! Now that is something that I would be prone to doing. Are you checking each individual room to see if it is avail? I am secretly hoping to be upgraded to a verandah but thought if I got there early enough I'd be very tempted to upgrade to one. Now you given me the bug, once I have determined which rooms are still avail, it is only a matter of checking those rooms periodically to see if they have been filled.

I was thinking that if DCL were to try to fill the ship, they would be thinking about discounting the rooms for FL residents pretty soon. They wouldn't want to do it too early because they may loose a last minute full price fare and too late they would not have the opportunity to advertise the availiability. Sept 1-7 seems to be about the right window for free upgrades.

We won the Walmart battle with the transfers. When we got there we went straight back to see what date all the ones on the shelf had. Between white and dark we pulled about 25 off the shelf because they were all expired. The customer service gal we took them to was very nice and instantly gave us our money back for them and said "I did not know they expired."

Robin here...

Plus I need to get my classes lined up for the college courses I'm taking. (Gotta get that promotion. :thumbsup2 ) AAAAHHHHH!!!!

:

thats it honey. get that promotion so i can retire. you can be my sugar momma.

So after getting our money back at Walmart I decided that I am bound and determind to do these shirts. Even if I only do Scott and I. I want to prove that I can make one that is going to last at least one wear.

I was getting nervous about this too and then I asked Nancy to post the "rules of DIS tag again the other day and I felt better after reading through them. My gifts will be the same for everyone too with a WI twist to them and nothing too expensive or fancy either. Don't worry I'm sure your gifts will be fine!

I was planning on putting my name on them so people knew who they were from.

I have to admit that I am starting to get a little nervous about DISTag....I think there is more to this than I originally thought.

It seems that everyone is customizing gifts - I was planning on just buying the same gift for everyone. Something small, probably with a Canadian twist, but nothing too expensive or fancy.

I think I am going to fall short of the expectations. So i apologize now if the gift from us doesnt compare to each of yours.

Question - are we supposed to put our names on it so people know who its from?

You'll have to wait a little bit for me to get the Cat 6's. Those are the most rooms (138) so it takes a little longer and my eyes are killing me.

So off to Staples. It was in the same stripe mall as Walmart. Again we pulled about 25 off their shelf, both white and dark. Took them up to customer service and explain they were expired. She gave us the so what attitude and we left.

So now I am on and even bigger mission. I am going to do these shirts and I am going to go from place to place until I find transfers.

Oh wait. Walmart only carried Avery
Staples only carried Avery

So after dinner we went to Office Max. Same thing about 25 Avery white and dark all expired. We gave them to a guy there and he gave us the speach of I didn't know that and I will have to talk to my rep. Now Office Max did carry their own brand but there were no dates on those so I did not want to try it.

Now I am mader then mad.

So off to a different Staples. Excate same thing. All Avery about 30 of them white and dark. All Expired. So this time I spoke to a manager who alos go anothe manager involved and they said the same thing. We did not know they expired. I had to show them the dates. They checked inventory in the back and had nothing. So they checked Staples.com and nothing. They suggested Micheals. I might go there on Thursday. We will see.

Now I am spending more money in gas running around.

Some of them were expired by 2 years. Come on people. I will check at work tomorrow. It looks like Avery has the market on them out here. But Avery is shipping all expired product.

Yes, I am checking each room individually.

I would say you are right on for the timing of the FREE upgrades. The GTY people will probably get their rooms about then as well, and rumor is that they have the best chance at upgrades.

If you are happy with your room, I'd wait until at the terminal to see what is available. However, one we got upgraded for free in 2005, there was nothing left when we got to port. They moved everyone up.

I think they would have done FL resident rates already. Next would be Disney CM offerings.

Lastly, I think they'll move the upper Cat people up 5 to 4, 6 to 5 and then start doing bigger moves such as 9 to 6 or 7. Then maybe 10-12 to 8-9. Then try to sell the Cat 10-12 at a low rate.

But, no one knows what DCL does.

What Cat are you GTY in?

all they told us was we were on deck 2.
the last cruise we got the same thing and they upgraded us a little and when we got to the terminal we were going to try for an additional upgrade but cass and rob got the last one. so i guess that cruise in 2005 was full.
we really dont care where we stay because we arnt in the cabin that much, but if we get a free upgrade we will do a happy dance.

thats the joke i alway tell. cass pushed us out of the way to get the last upgrade. but it really never happened that way.:rolleyes1 right cass? :rotfl2:

Beautiful picture!
