Missy has a great magical moment story, so she has to get on here to tell it. I'll let her know!!!!!
Every moment to us is magical!!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone! I have an hour or so to try to catch up on posts. You are all so chatty over the weekend! Everyone is getting excited now aren't they? hahahah ME TOO!

I have a Palo question.

When you go to Palo, you pay the fee or whatever to get out of your dining rotation...so then you are supposed to tip...but how do you figure how much the meal would have been to know what to tip or is there some amount that is standard? How does that change from dinner to tea to brunch?

Why cant you use a normal ironing board to iron on transfers?

How do you do the back transfer once you have done the front? Does the front one come off if you are pressing the back?

Karen, you need a hard surface for the transfers. A padded ironing board is too soft. When I did the backs of the shirts, I slipped a cutting board inside the shirts so the front one wouldn't melt to the back.

194 more posts til the next biggie:banana:

Can we get to it by friday please so I can steal it before I go on my hols:rolleyes1 :lmao:

I'm sure that won't be a problem!:rotfl:

QotD

We didn't necessarily have a "moment". Our entire week was magical. We met the best bunch of DISers that week and made a few lifelong friends...right Brenda??

way off topic

We have white appliances in our kitchen right now. We will slowly be changing them out for new ones. I was thinking I wanted black ones but now I am wondering if I go all black would that make my kitchen look smaller? Does anyone have advice on this. I really did not want to stay white with kids because it shows all the dirty hand prints to much, but now I am thinking black may not be the answer.

JMO but it seems that when I take anyone to see a place and they have black or stainless appliances, they feel that they are nicer and newer and it adds value to their opinion of the kitchen.

Personally I won't have stainless in mine as it seems to drive me crazy and I am always using stainless cleaner to keep that shine from having fingerprints etc.

Jeff...know you're busy but QotD please.:thumbsup2

ooo, I know...has anyone received a magical moment on a Disney ship before or has CM done anything out of the ordinary for you?

On our 11 day trip last year, Rick & I bought a lovely map of the Caribbean, and the bridge staff plotted the ships course on it for us and it was then signed by the Captain. A real one-off.

Heather

Not on the ship and a long time ago so it may not count, but...

In Jan '99, DH and I spent a week at WDW for our delayed honeymoon (we got married in Nov. '98, but DH was still finishing college so we had to delay our trip until winter break). Anyway, we were having dinner at Cinderella's castle (Cinderella being my fave character!) and during the dessert a manager-type person was wandering around talking to people at the restaurant. We mentioned it was our honeymoon, and before we left, she sent our waiter out with 2 champagne flutes with the Cinerella's Table logo etched on them for us to take home. I still have them in my china hutch...

At the most I think we have seen 3 movies, although Rachel may have seen more. They usually have some good movies playing and we plan on seeing more but there are too many other things to do on the ship.

We didn't make it to GC one year because the seas were too rough to tender. In 4 cruises we have not had much rain at all!!

My oldest son would get a thing of chicken fingers and off to the movies he would go. We had movies brought into our room so my youngest could watch while we were getting ready but we never made it to the theatre.

We didn't have a rain out.

Happy Belated Birthday to all of you birthday babies...

Glad to hear that Linda's world is looking up a bit...very glad she will be on the cruise with us.

T-Shirt transfers:

I used Avery dark t-shirt transfers. You don't reverse the image either (which is really no big deal anyway). I also used white Hanes t-shirts and K & J used pink t-shirts from the gap.

I just put a pillow case on the kitchen counter and used that as my base. Put the transfer on the shirt, the tissue papery thingy they give you in the pack on top of that and ironed it for no more than one minute. VOILA!! Perfect results! :thumbsup2

I think Cass uses a different name brand of transfers though and gets excellent results too. I tired Georgia Pacific brand once and didn't like it as much.

What is the difference for white and dark shirts? I used Avery transfers also but there was no tissue thingy, and it took way more then a minute to get them to transfer. Did you have an issue with it cracking?

I was almost thinking of trying the transfer thing and making us t-shirts. I am back to my not thinking I am sure I could do it.

Morning all. I'm home for a little while. Alex has a drs. appt this morning for a physical and her six grade shot. I can't believe my baby is going to middle school. This is worse than her going to kindergarten!!!!! She has to ride the bus with high school students!!!!:scared1: :scared1:

After reading all the tshirt talk, I may just be wearing the lime green shirts we bought from disney without putting the logos on them. i wouldn't want to ruin them.:confused3

Kelsey just started middle school also and she has to ride the bus with the high school kids also. She really has not had a problem. Her only complaint was that the high school kids take up all the seat. So they have to sit 3 to a seat, 2 highschool kids and one middle school.

Another question... maybe I should find myself a passporter..but I am not sure where to get it and not sure that I would have time to use it greatly...

Ok...everyone talks about with late dining not being able to get to the adult shows quick enough to get a good place. My head was thinking the shows because we did the shows after dinner on the last cruise as we had late dining. Now, we will do the shows then dinner so what exactly am I going to be rushing for? Are we talking about like deck party things? OMG I think that there is a HUGE difference between a 4 day and a 7 day huh?

Why cant you use a normal ironing board to iron on transfers?

How do you do the back transfer once you have done the front? Does the front one come off if you are pressing the back?

I have used an ironing board before for making shirts for school and they were just fine! :confused3

Karen, you need a hard surface for the transfers. A padded ironing board is too soft. When I did the backs of the shirts, I slipped a cutting board inside the shirts so the front one wouldn't melt to the back.

I'm sure that won't be a problem!:rotfl:

I did the cutting board also but it warped so bad that it was no longer a flat surface. :sad2:

My oldest is going to speak at church next week. They are letting the kids run the service and he will be speaking. He has come so far, I am so proud of him. 2 years ago, life in middle school here so bad i was not sure I would ever see him emerge again. I thought I lost him.
