Here we go again

I have always taken my birth certificate when I cruise. I was told we would need to take them again this time along with our passports. Our first TA told us that everyone traveling would need a passport, a picture state ID and birth certificate.

DCL said that we only needed a birth certificate and the passport if we have one.

I just spoke to our new TA and she said that we only need our passport.

Here is the question.

Do what do minor children need to travel. We have passports for everyone. However we do not have picture state id's for the kids. And now we do not have birth certificates for DH's kids either. I will explain that one in a minute.

Can his kids travel with just the passport or will we have to order birth certificates?

Passports should be fine for everyone. That's all we used in January.

DS has had a passport since he was 6 months. He's on his second one. It is so easy to travel with a passport.

Ok here is the story and sorry if it gets long. I am just so mad and angry.

Somehow when DH got divorced the ex kept the kids birthcertificates. We have photo copies but they do not have the raised seal on them. Any time we have ever needed them the ex has allowed us to use them. Even when we applied for the passports. When we got the birth certificates back she stated that she needed them back between then and the cruise so she could scrapbook with them. (don't ask all her excuses are odd) She continued to explain that she lost the originals during one of her many moves, so she had to order new ones adn those are the ones we used. She informed Scott that she would give them back in time for the cruise.

Ok so me being the person I am and dealing with her for 9 years I told Scott that she was up to something and maybe we should get our own copies ordered. That was 3 months ago. He of course said she would not try anything and not to worry about it.

Of course 2 weeks later she emails him a link to order birth certificates for the kids. But in the email she states her is the link for you to use after you get back from the trip.

So today she picks up Kelsey and hands Scott a paper that has instructions on how to get copies of the birth certificates and says " I could not remember if I gave you the info before so here is it, you will need to have your own copies before the trip."

What????????????????????? That is just another added expense for this trip. It is bad enough we had to pay full price for the passport and she can use them when ever she wants. Excuse me she should have paid half. Now because she wants to be like this we have to pay for birth certificates also.

Another question

We are paying our cruise off in full on the 26th. We bought insurance on the older kids. If the ex says after the 26th that they can not go, will we be able to get any of that money back?

You are correct, they can travel with just the passport. Boy that helps that we don't have to get one right away. But that will be on my list of things to do in the near future.

Thank you. Unfortunatly it has been 9 years of this. Besides my mother the ex is what is on my plate. It is one thing after another now. Specially since Kelsey moved in with us and then 2 months later has stated she does not want to be with us anymore. It has given her mom all the amo she needs.

I know this is a bad way of thinking but I have come to the conclusion that I will not be booking any excursions that will include the old kids. I do not want the hassel of canceling everything if the mother decides to pull them off this trip. I can honestly see her doing that the week before we leave.

That and the kids are frustrating me with excursions anyways. I have been telling them all the stuff to do and I am getting no yes's or no's to any of them. So Scott and I decided that we would just do simple things. I really wanted Scott to take the older 2 snorkeling in Castaway. I thought this would give them some time with dad, and me some time with the little one and I thought they would enjoy it. Now yesterday Kelsey pops up and says she does not want to snorkel. And she has no idea what she wants to do. Which means Scott would take Kyle and then I have to take Kelsey with Mac and I. Well there is a whole lot of thinking to do with that one.

They have joint custody of both kids. She is primary parent for Kyle and we are now primary for Kelsey. Each parent is allowed 14 days of vacation a year, with no more then 7 days in a row without written concent. We got written concent from her on the stand point we will be gone 8 days, they will be missing school, and we will be taking them out of the country. But she still needs to get a note noterized that we can take them out of the country. So if she does put a stop to this it is to late to take her to court over it before the cruise. Our courts are a year behind.
