I have the first part of the Chef's Table posted for anyone who wants to take a look.

Jay crashed before I was done so I had to stop after the first course...consider this post an appetizer. ;)

You won't find me on deck 7 secret deck, there's no shade :sad2: You won't find me in the sun unless I have no other choice.

I think we should have mini-DIS meets at all the adult shows :woohoo: Get a few tables all together and enjoy some entertainment together :upsidedow

I second that idea:thumbsup2

thanks to our arizona friend scott.. i guess i will have to brush robins hair tonite too...:rolleyes1

Yep you sure will because as soon as I get of here he will be shaving my legs, giving me a back rub, and brushing my hair. Oh the joy. :rolleyes1

Here goes...

My brother works afternoon turn. I work 8 to 5. My sister works 8 to 6:30. I told my brother tonight that we needed to get some help (private duty nurse) because I can't do this every other night. It's easier for him... he lives there... he's already home. By the time I get home, take a shower and get into bed... it's 1 AM. Then I have to get up at 6:30 to go to work and forget about excercising in the morning.

He got a little upset and said "So you expect me to get someone in here for 9 hrs a day" I said Yes. Unless you can get the neighbor lady to take the job for a few hrs a day and we pay her.

He thinks we should give up our lives and families for this. I don't mind helping but we're all going to be sick if we keep up this pace.

What do you think?

Robin

Robin

I agree with you 100%. I know my mother is not in the same position as your parents but when she was hospitalized for the whole month of April I bairly left her side, and when I did it was to take care of my family and work (or at least attempt to work) The commute was 30 -40 minutes each way. After she got home I was going over one day a week for our oldest DD to clean their house, and one day a week to run erronds for her and one day a week to take her to the Dr. I finally in the last 2 weeks have stopped doing it because I hit a wall and could not function anymore. I have told my father that he needs to step up and help out of get her the help that she needs one day a week or how ever often she needs it, but that was blown out of the water by him. I finally had to realize that my life and family needed to come first again.

Stick by your guns, don't make yourself sick, you need to get some rest and take care of yourself also. Thinking of you and many

I did it, I read 21 pages and it only took me 3 1/2 hours to do it all. Now I am off to bed. I must be hooked when I sit here for that long and do nothing else. Good night everyone and goodmorning to everyone else.

Dear, dear Robin,

I agree with the others. You MUST take care of yourself too. I hope that with 4 children in the family that the other's would step up to the plate to help out. You have a family of your own now, your granddaughter, your children and of course Cinnimike. (BTW..that man says the sweetest things about you behind your back  ). I will be facing the same situation very soon myself and have only a disabled brother to help me. Yes, Chuck will stand behind me forever and my kids will help out too but it will be mainly on my shoulders. Maybe you all could sit down with the one brother who is in denial/unwillingness. Unless you are all doctors or nurses, (or play them on tv...sorry, just trying to lighten this up for you), leave this to the professionals. They know how to care for your folks better than you could.

Your parents know how much you love them. Show them by hiring the best care for them that you can afford.

That's my two cents worth. Dust stuff pixiedust: and hugs  to the Dyer family!

Is today LindyLooHoo's meeting day with the school? If so,

:cheer2: GOOD LUCK LINDA!! GIVE EM HECK!!:cheer2:

O.K. Looks like things are slowing down and everyone is leaving me.

Chris, what was that deodorant you found for thread killers?

Clue less sorry, ive managed to "kill" off ALL my fellow Brits posters...:sad2:

Geez...I go to the dentist, get some groceries, feed my daughter and you people post 10 pages!!!!!!!

I'll be back when I catch up

Me too, went to the happy house and came back to 8 pages..:scared1:

I too, sadly must go:sad1:

Bob is coming over and I said I was gonna have dinner ready:lmao:

Chuck some salad in a bowl and tell him your "thinking of his health"...:rolleyes1

We will try to see all the shows but that depends on whether or not Kira flips out during the shows :rolleyes1

I could do without Twice Charmed, it's my least favourite. Like hubby said, I miss Hercules!!! :sad1:

I would love to see the new changes to Disney Dreams!

If Kira does well at Flounders, Rob and I will be at all the adult shows! Maybe if some of us get to Rockin Bar D early we can save a few seats for other KKers. I know that with late seating, by the time we got to the bar, there were NO seats! That was one of my pet peeves!

And you will often find us on the dance floor, as we never get to dance together at home :sad2:

Seat saving? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Your one mighty brave lady Cass to suggest such a thing on here....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Walt and I are the same way. We buy t-shirts and save them. We finally wore our Disney cruise tshirts last month. Isnt that crazy. I save clothes also. I really dont know why. I found three pairs of pants in my closet I never wore and I had to give them away because they were way too big. Diane

Pants?...Hmmm now who do we know has no pants?....:rolleyes1

yes Lori. it will be fun. but she wants to bring her boyfriend also (if they are still dating.they have been together for a year)
maybe we should take him on the cruise instead so i can push him overboard.:woohoo: no really he seems like a good kid, but is any boy really good enough for our little girls?princess:

No!!

We are the exact same way. We are lucky to go out maybe 2 to 3 times a year without the kids. I am hoping to never see the kids on this trip and have a full 7 days of just us. :rotfl: I know fat chance but it is a good thought. DH still likes the idea of AFEG being the full time sitter when the kids don't want to go to the groups and we don't want them around, so everyone needs to take the kids to AFEG's room for him to watch them.

No problem, just see all kids deposited in room 8034 are wearing their life jackets because i suspect we'll end up "playing" titanic very shortly after their arrival...If you know what i mean...:rolleyes1

When my Grandmother needed this help/support we were able to find someone who would come in and be with her for about 5 hours a day - they were a great 5 hours for her as she received full attention of the paid individual. they talked (g'ms mainly listened), listened to music, went for walks (my G'ma in a wheelchair), etc.

This person was great as she was not resentful of the time, she approached it as a job and so wanted to do a good job to make my Gma happy, and she was quite flexible. It gave us a chance to get our families back into normal mode. My Mom and her brother still went by everyday to see her but at least they werent there for 6 hour stretches which meant that they were in better moods during the visits.

All in all - a great plan that they never regretted.

A few questions:

1. do we need to bring towels with us for the cruise
2. we woudl liked to be placed with another family at dinners - will this happen by default or do we need to request it
3. how good are the pillows?

Thanks

A while back someone posted a list of things to be done before the cruise - and then people added more items to it. Did anyone keep the most recent list??
