Thanks for the history, you kinda forget all that Wisconsin has to offer, until you put it down on paper.

We live in a small town of about 9,000 people, and are in the middle of cranberry country. I believe we are the #1 or #2 in the country for cranberries production. The Ocean Spray plant in on the outside of our town.
We have Fort McCoy also, which is a large military training facility. We mobilize units from all over the country before shipping off to Iraq. We also demobilize the troops when they return.

Its great isnt it! - all these facts about peoples towns and cities - until someone asks you dont actually think about where you live!

I like cranberries, but.....I like men in uniform better though:rolleyes1
I'd be happy to help "demobilize" a troop or two:rotfl:

Thanks for joining in:thumbsup2

Who's next? Tell us about your town:goodvibes

A Cow chip is dried P**p. :rotfl2: They see how far people can throw them.
Believe me, never touched one and never will, but I did watch, just to say that I did. I took part in the other festivities, eating and drinking.:woohoo:

:scared1: :scared1: THEY ACTUALLY THROW IT???:scared1: :scared1:

Memo to self - dont shake hands with Janice:rolleyes1

We boast the most strip malls per capita then anywhere else in the US.

Sounds like a good place for Mike and Cinnamon to visit. The "stripping" in Wisconsin is mostly kept indoors in dark little bars. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers this morning everyone. Had some blood tests done and will get results next week Thursday. Dr wants to do a little more poking and proding before giving me a clean bill of health for 6 more months.

If everything comes back clear, she may agree to let me go for a year without another check up.

I did sprinkle myself with "dust stuff" this morning before I went so let's see if that helped.

Jeff, thanks for covering us Wisconsinites with the overview of Milwaukee. Glad you didn't mention all of our celebrities here. (Dahmer, Ghein,(sp?), etc):scared1:

Karen, Menomonee Falls is a village but I have no idea of the population. It's small and quaint. Mostly friendly unless some of the drifters from Hartland/Lisbon find their way into our little village. We used to have a kind gentleman who would "till" our gardens, but he's too busy now for us peasants. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Now he's busied himself with something called the "DIS", burgers, and stats of all kinds. I miss him......:sad2:

;) ;) ;)

Its sounds idyllic, do you have any photos? Such a beautiful name too, Menomonee Falls..a little more romantic than Birmingham:rolleyes:

I know, I set myself up, for that comment.

I see headlines on the internet, say that the Greek police will be using, paint ball guns to shoot the out of control houligans at the Premier League finals.

Maybe if we knew what Chris looked like, we could pick him out of the crowd shots.:rolleyes1

If it's stats you want, here are some more:

WI's population is made up of over 42% people having German ancestry.

WI was first found in 1634 by Jean Nicolet.

The state mineral is "galena" which was mined by immigrants from Cornwall, England. (hmmm....maybe we're all related in some way)

State Animal is the Badger and the state bird is the Robin (not Red).

Milwaukee is the 22nd largest city in the US based on population.

The Experimental Aircraft Association is based in Oshkosh (north of Milwaukee) and when the air show is going on, it is the busiest airport in the world (1 week in August).

Did you not hear me say, I NEVER will touch the stuff, just watched:rotfl: :rotfl2: I promise, I'm safe.:thumbsup2

Yeah, yeah...I believe you:rolleyes1 :lmao: - only kidding.

Now you're just showing off;) ....are you wanting to be top of the geography class Jeff?:teacher: IF SO,...WHERES MY SHINY RED APPLE:rolleyes:

More interesting WI facts:

For you med techs, GE Medical is based here (actually in Pewaukee, close to my house)

Lands End is in Dodgeville.

Manpower, the largest employment company in the world is located in Milwaukee.

Miller Brewing is in Milwaukee.

SC Johnson is in Racine (they are the ones that always say they are a "family company" at the end of their ads). You know them, they make almost every household product you have (Glade, Windex, Drano, Fantastik, Pledge, Shout, Oust, Scrubbing Bubbles, Saran, Ziploc, Off, Raid, Edge shaving gel, etc.).

Not sure if Kimberly-Clark's main offices are still in the Fox Valley, but they make all the paper products - toilet paper, paper towel, tissue, diapers (child and adult) and those female things that Chris and I don't like to talk about.

Rayovac Batteries is in Madison.

Oscar Meyer use to be in Madison (might still be) but were bought by Kraft.

Kohl's Department Stores is in Menomonee Falls.

Briggs and Stratton is in Milwaukee - makes small engines for things like lawn mowers, etc.

Allen Edmund shoes are in Port Washington.

Trying to think of other big companies up here.

Yeah, yeah...I believe you:rolleyes1 :lmao: - only kidding.

This would be one of the times that he told a co worker, can you give me 5 minutes, I'm busy. BUSY looking up Wisconsin facts.

Oh, and most importantly, a true Wisconsinite knows what FIB means and it doesn't mean a small lie. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I found it finally.......You are north of wales......toward the Scottish border?? How large is England.....How far are you from London???? Is it about the same as going from coast to coast in the U.S.?

:rotfl2: No way look at the map again and from the very tip of jock land to the bottom tip of England it's only 1000

Were 200 miles from jock land and 200 miles from London

AFEG, Canada shares the time zones with the USA, (mostly) and we are in the west near the Rockies, in the Mountain Time Zone which is 2 hours behind Eastern Time Zone.

WOW the rockies,it's on my list but a million miles from Hazel's list as she HATES the cold....:)

DH here

For the soccer (football) fans, Hows ManU and Chelsea doing? Oh Unlike most I should be able do understand what you are saying, and wont think you are Australian. (New Zealand maybe:laughing: )

My beloved manU won the league and the money laundering Chavs won the Fa cup

So Jeff got to do a little gardening, be lucky you are not here and have to deal with 100+ temps. (DW said you never came by here)

If I forgot anything I am sorry, I took Jeff's advice and just jumped in.

If it isn't too much to ask, I am being selfish and asking for a few little thoughts and prayers myself this morning. I'm going for my 6 month cancer check up today...in about 1/2 hour. Wish me luck....please!

You Can have a hug anyday dear:hug:

You and Brenda only said you each are the only woman you'd share AFEG with. You never mentioned any restrictions on the guys. :lmao:

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: How can i answer that one:rolleyes1

We live in Stanardsville Virginia. Our home is right at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have lots of wildlife. Right now I feed 4 cats (2 of my own), a possum, and red fox. There is also a black bear that lives up behind our house. It is very rural. We are not far from Charlottesville. It is where Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, is. I love the rural setting. We have trails through the woods the kids love to play outside all the time. I don't know many stats on the town. I wasn't born or raised here. Scott and I met in college in Charlottesville and haven't left. Take time to look it up, it is beautiful!!!
