October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 3

I know that Canada has time zones but I'm not sure if they are the same as the U.S. (From the East Coast to the West Coast of the US are four time zones totaling a 3 hour difference.) (It is 7:45 in California)

My DH says that yes they do run the same as the US from east to west. But honestly now he does not live there so I don't know if I would trust him or not.

Just got on and can't believe how much there is to catch up on ........We had a busy weekend as usual.....grass cutting, planting azaleas, etc on Sat a.m., Relay for Life on Saturday night (we had a great turn out and our team from radiation oncology raised almost $5,000.00 for the American Cancer Society! ) and then Lori and I spent the day scrap booking today!!!! (Disney pages of course!! ) Whew.......

Wow that's great that your team raised so much money! Congratulations Missy and Lori

Just an update on DH's bosses son Mike. We went to the hospital today to see the family. Here is what happened. It was a one car accident. 6 teenage boys 17-18 years old. 2 in the front seat buckled in 4 in the back seat no one buckled. It was an older style bronco. The driver was going 60-70 in a 25 and lost control and rolled the car. All boys went to hospital. 5 out of 6 went home the same night. Mike on the other hand is still on life support, had head trama, swelling to the brain, and bleeding in the brain. Unresponsive. His mother has been told to expect the worse. I will update everyone as I get updates. Please keep praying for him.

Carrie how very, very sad I will continue to pray for Mike and his family. Rachel keeps saying how she can't wait until she can drive in 3 years but when I hear stories like this it scares me to think of her driving in just 3 years. I know the law in WI has changed a little because of accidents with young drivers. They now need to have a certain amount of driving hours or be a little older before they can drive with other kids in the car unless they are family members. I'm not sure what the exact law is but we will in a few years.

We are the only state that does not do DST. So right now it is 9:20. Mountain Standard time. It could very well be that Cherry Coke, either that or you are addicted to DIS.

AZ is trying to pass a law right now that under a certain age can only have one other friend in the car. I don't really see how they will inforce it but I don't think I am letting mine kids out of the house anymore without us driving. They will not drive until they are able to live on their own and they will not allowed to ride with anyone, I will even drive them to prom and pick them up.

I did one read of someone on the DIS board that said her daughter told her she has Disney Obsessive Disorder I think I have it too

I am right there with you on that one. I can not pull my self away from DIS. I think I actually talk to you all more them my DH these days.

Thats just it, laws like this are hard to enforce and kids think they are invincible. We have already told Rachel that when she gets older and she is with her friends if she is ever in the least bit uncomfortable about what they are doing she should call us and we will come and pick her up. Someone I work with even has a special type of code that their son can use so that if he does call home to get a ride his friends won't know he is calling home so they won't give him a hard time while he is waiting for his mom or dad to come pick him up. It sure is scary being a parent and it gets scarier out there the older they get!

That is an excellent idea about the code. I will have to tell that one to DH (oh wait that means I have to talk to him. HMMM DIS or DH what a hard choice.)

Crap, I hate it when you type out a long post and then the DIS crashes! BAH!

AFEG, Canada shares the time zones with the USA, (mostly) and we are in the west near the Rockies, in the Mountain Time Zone which is 2 hours behind Eastern Time Zone.
