BTW - question for anyone? Can we as parents go in and watch any of the kids activities in the Lab?

We have never had a problem going in to see what they are doing. Even allowed Suz to take pictures during a couple of sessions the kids had over in the Lab (cookie making, flubber, etc.).

another question - I hear people talking about tables - are most tables for just one family or do they merge different families together?

Tables are usually 4, 6, 8 and I think 10 or 12 top. If you only want a table for your size, put in a request that you want a 4 top (if it is just you, DH, DS and DD). It is only a request, however, and we didn't get it 2 of the 3 times we requested it. You may want to go to Rockin Bar D when you get on the ship to verify and possibly change your dining situation.

I wonder what everyone;s kids look forward to the most. Mykids look forward to such simple things:

- mickey mouse waffles
- seeing Kim Possible
- swimming every day

Not sure if Kim Possible is on the cruise. Never seen her or seen anything in the Navigator regarding her. I think there might be some KP mystery thing in the Lab, but that is for kids 8+ (not sure if it is for all 8-12 or just a certain group in the Lab).

Morning folks.... just got back from dropping Ellis off at Beavers.:sad2: What a nightmare.:sad1: He's going on an adventure day today - they have allsorts planned, abseiling, rock climbing, grass sledging etc etc, but when I got there they refused to give Ellis his epipen in an emergency as they are not covered to do so.. They dont need to be covered... just trained (which they are). I even took the training pen with me so she could have a go to be more comfortable doing it in an emergency.

Its never been a problem before cos I am within a 4 minute drive of the Scout hut so I could get there to inject him if he needed it. Today however I presumed they would take it cos they accepted his slip and took his money knowing full well he cant go anywhere without his medibag. The main woman just said there would be a first aider at the adventure place and that they could do it. They are totally missing the point... he cant wait for someone to leave the main building, find whatever bit of the site they are on and do it...there just isnt time for that. He can be dead in 5 minutes. Well, I got really upset and had to tell Ellis he couldnt go. The poor kid is standing there in his uniform with his backpack full of picnic goodies and his mom is crying telling him he cant go.:sad1:

One of the other leaders stepped in and agreed to do it for him if necessary. Thank goodness. I can understand them being wary, but the woman who refused point blank is the main leader, works at a school, has had epipen training regularly but still refused to help Ellis in an emergency.:sad2:

I dont get it:confused3 - how can she be so mean? I have told them over and over again that they cant hurt him/make it worse/inject him wrong etc etc by injecting him unnecesarily, but she just isnt interested.:sad2: Even Ellis knows how, but he cant be expected to do it himself when he's going into anaphalctic shock. He's only 6 for god sake.

He has gone in the end, but I'm so worried now. I have til 7.30pm tonight til I see him.

Sorry for moaning, just sitting by the phone now worried til its time to fetch him.

Karen,

Everything will be fine, just keep DISing until he gets home. You'd think all the counselors would be trained in CPR and first aid and know how to administer the injection.

The main lady's attitude is unacceptable. They shouldn't have let you sign up if there was an issue.

I just checked for 2 adults as well as 2 adults plus 1 child (our situation) and ALL non-Suite categories came up (4-12). Plus the rate is still only $200 more than we paid. If prices are still that low, I don't see the ship being too full. It will be telling when we get to the cancellation date (I think 75 days) what the prices are. Also, availability at that time will tell us how full it is.

However, once we get inside that mark, they will probably have FL Discounts along with possibly DVC and Military discounts so they can fill the ship.

OK. I was checking 2 adults 2 children. I hope it's not too full.....

EB Med Repo is now off the boat and we have managed to get 650 ahead of them. Good job every one. :thumbsup2

Now we are just 3,100 behind the next group.

Can someone please clear something up about the DIS tag for me. Tell me if I have it right. We will need 20 gifts. Do all 20 gifts go to the same person, so I have to have 20 different gifts, or does each person get one gift from me.:confused3

Just been in the garden plantingup 3 big tubs ready for the front of the new house:goodvibes - at least it killed an hour or 2.:rolleyes1 - only 2 hours til my munchkin comes home.

Jeff - thats the daft thing about it - they are ALL trained in cpr, first aid etc - thats why I cant understand it:confused3

I just thought being as she took my money and accepted Ellis on the trip she'd understand Ellis and medibag are never seperated. Oh well, its nearly over. Only 2 hours..... 2 loooong hours.

You give one giftbag to everyone - you'll visit 20 cabins and deliver one gift bag to every cabin. You can put whatever you like in your bag.

I agree if they have known all along how could that lady just refuse. If she did not want the responsiblity then she should have not taken the money and told you up front so you could find someone willing and not have had all the stress at the last minute. I swear all people think about these days is themselves. Specially some of the adults don't think of how a child feels in that situation let alone the parent of that child.

How is DIS about his situation, are the willing to give the shot?

Had the same kinda thing with Ryan and his asma at school..."if his puffer is empty we'll ring you but we can't do anymore because were not covered"..Er YOU'D WATCH MY BOY DIE BECAUSE YOUR NOT COVERED?..."Er,well yes, what else could we do?"...chuck him in the car drive at 90 mph and save his bloody life would be a good place to start....This coming from a NUNN...:sad2:

ps...Ryan got upset the other week because despite him AND Rosie's protests his PE teacher said he had to take part in the 1500m when he simlpy wasn't up to it (if am honest he shouldn't have even been in school)....Both Ryan and Rosie sat down and refused to move until the teacher rang me....Ryan didn't do any running:rolleyes1.All you ever get is "thier are 2500 other kids here" well sorry but i only care about mine...:sad2:

Hope Ellis has a great day...:)

I am so afraid for Mackenzie when she starts school. She has sever asthma. She has to do a breathing treatment everynight at bedtime, take one pill at bedtime and take a nose spray at bedtime. If there is no wind or bad weather then we are safe but the minute there is wind or she plays outside we are right back doing a breathing treatment or puff about every 2 hours. I just hope the school will let her do a puff every 2 hours if needed.

:rotfl:
What does everyone think about the group photo being just before the wine tasting? Those who arent participating could bring themselves and the children to get the photo took and then the rest of us can start on the wine:banana:

Its the obvious opportunity when we're all getting together anyway.

We could always do a "before" and then "after wine tasting" photo to see who's still standing:rotfl:

GREAT IDEA KAREN, think we can put this on the DIS tag list, once we know for sure the date and time ?????
Scott and Carrie

Of course, so sorry !!!! must be my age !!!:rotfl:

:thumbsup2

Hi Abby, my actual birthday is 17th July, though i have celebrations on the 7th and 8th 17th and 21st July !!!:thumbsup2

Hey, 40 is the new 30 !!! Well thats what im saying anyway!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to fill in the medical form, but they have a doctor onboard so its more stight forward I guess. I would give him the injection. I wouldnt like to do it, but i think he'd be better with me doing it than anyone else. I asked the question on the cruise main site and I got lots of positive replies of parents saying how good Disney were about nut allergies.

Oh dear...Poor little thing. It seems much more common these days. In Ellis' class - out of 27 kids - 6 have inhalers and 2 have bad allergies.

If you advise the staff at the very start - put it in writing - all the facts, stress the importance of their co-operation in keeping her fit and healthy and then send a copy to her teacher, the assistant, the head and ask the head to speak to all other members of staff she will be in contact with such as lunchtime staff etc.

In the staff room at Ellis' school they have a big noticeboard with an A4 sheet on each child who has serious allergies / serious medical conditions etc with their photograph on. It really helps to remind teachers which kids need that bit of extra tlc sometimes. See if they do something similar at her school.

Teachers do tend to lump kids together ie "ANOTHER ONE WITH ASTHMA"...Dont let them....stress how ill she can get and how quickly it can happen and that its not just a mild condition. It keeps them alert and stops them getting slack on procedure.

The head at Ellis' school sends a letter out at the start of every single term reminding parents about nuts in lunchboxes etc. Every time theres a trip the parents in Ellis' class are reminded "no nut lunch boxes". They do all they can to keep Ellis safe. If you work with them from the start then they should co-operate. I volunteered to go on every school trip etc to take the burden off the staff (I'm a class asst anyway) and they are always grateful. She will be fine

Ok I think I've updated the KK site to reflect all those who wanted to go on the wine tasting private function.

PLEASE double check, as I am really not very good at all this. And Jeff so kindly offered to help, however he does so much for the group, i thought I would try and do this one thing with out... even though he did offer... thanks mate:hug:

I know the honeymoon couple Liz and Dave said yes too. cant find their DISname... anyone know ( I knew i should have written these down !)

MISSY.... I have you plus 3 friends???? Can you put them on the KK or PM their names please... .thanks
