Morning folks.... just got back from dropping Ellis off at Beavers.:sad2: What a nightmare.:sad1: He's going on an adventure day today - they have allsorts planned, abseiling, rock climbing, grass sledging etc etc, but when I got there they refused to give Ellis his epipen in an emergency as they are not covered to do so.. They dont need to be covered... just trained (which they are). I even took the training pen with me so she could have a go to be more comfortable doing it in an emergency.

Its never been a problem before cos I am within a 4 minute drive of the Scout hut so I could get there to inject him if he needed it. Today however I presumed they would take it cos they accepted his slip and took his money knowing full well he cant go anywhere without his medibag. The main woman just said there would be a first aider at the adventure place and that they could do it. They are totally missing the point... he cant wait for someone to leave the main building, find whatever bit of the site they are on and do it...there just isnt time for that. He can be dead in 5 minutes. Well, I got really upset and had to tell Ellis he couldnt go. The poor kid is standing there in his uniform with his backpack full of picnic goodies and his mom is crying telling him he cant go.:sad1:

One of the other leaders stepped in and agreed to do it for him if necessary. Thank goodness. I can understand them being wary, but the woman who refused point blank is the main leader, works at a school, has had epipen training regularly but still refused to help Ellis in an emergency.:sad2:

I dont get it:confused3 - how can she be so mean? I have told them over and over again that they cant hurt him/make it worse/inject him wrong etc etc by injecting him unnecesarily, but she just isnt interested.:sad2: Even Ellis knows how, but he cant be expected to do it himself when he's going into anaphalctic shock. He's only 6 for god sake.

He has gone in the end, but I'm so worried now. I have til 7.30pm tonight til I see him.

Sorry for moaning, just sitting by the phone now worried til its time to fetch him.

Karen count me and elouise in to help too !!! Just let us know what you wnat me to do ;)

Thanks Lindy and Elouise. I'll pm you.:thumbsup2

AMAZING !!!!!

The wine tasting is ON!!!

read here....

Hi,

I was just informed that it is possible to set up a group wine tasting. The cost is $12.00 per person. The maximum is 40 guests. Pins are given out if they are available on the ship at the time.
I will still have to wait until about 30 days prior to confirm anything. I will get with you in September.
I will be glad to answer any questions until then.

Dorothy

Brilliant:cool1: - I'll check with Neil if he wants to do it. He's more of a beer man but he might like it.

I need help with my DIS tag progject. I need everyone that is playing to PM me with the DIS restuarant they like the best, which park it is located at and why. Please and Thank you.

Someone asked me what poutine was...sorry it took me so long to answer that!!

It's a Quebec dish, basically home made french fries covered in cheese curds and gravy OMG it's SOOOOOOOO good! Just a few calories LOL :lmao:

It may look a little gross but it's oh so delish!!!

Here's a pic:

poutine.jpg

And it's pronounced pooh-teen :)

Had the same kinda thing with Ryan and his asma at school..."if his puffer is empty we'll ring you but we can't do anymore because were not covered"..Er YOU'D WATCH MY BOY DIE BECAUSE YOUR NOT COVERED?..."Er,well yes, what else could we do?"...chuck him in the car drive at 90 mph and save his bloody life would be a good place to start....This coming from a NUNN...:sad2:

ps...Ryan got upset the other week because despite him AND Rosie's protests his PE teacher said he had to take part in the 1500m when he simlpy wasn't up to it (if am honest he shouldn't have even been in school)....Both Ryan and Rosie sat down and refused to move until the teacher rang me....Ryan didn't do any running:rolleyes1.All you ever get is "thier are 2500 other kids here" well sorry but i only care about mine...:sad2:

Hope Ellis has a great day...:)

Has anyone recently checked availability of our cruise? I just did and it only showed Cat. 4, 11, 12 available. Does this mean the ship is going to be full? :scared: I was hoping an Oct. cruise wouldn't be packed.

Good for Ryan and Rosie sticking up for themselves.:thumbsup2 My answer to the "there are 2500 kids..." would have been "Yeah, but you cant KILL most of them by your stupidity."

Ellis' current school is great - hopefully his new one will be too:rolleyes: . They dont do anything without checking with me first, right down to the littlest thing like a nature table in class - they made sure he could touch the items on there.

I just wish his Beaver group were equally as caring. I wouldnt mind if it was just a mild allergy like a rash etc, but geez:sad2: If he didnt like it so much I would stop taking him, but it seems soooo wrong for him to miss out because they are too stupid.

All his other clubs are great.

Does Ryan have a spare inhaler with him at school?
Ellis' school are great - wherever Ellis goes his medication goes too. It follows him to the dinner hall each day, the dinner staff have emergency tags round their necks - if Ellis started choking or couldnt breathe etc they hand the tag to a child and tell them to find another dinner lady quickly. That tag with the staff members name on it means "emergency - I need help quickly" and therefore summons more staff.

I dont understand the logic of some people. Like I said before - if you inject him prematurely or unnessacarily it doesnt matter - you cant harm him - its just adrenilin to re-open his airwaves. He'd spend the night in hospital but be none the worse. If you didnt inject him cos you were unsure THATS the problem. I have always told everyone - "if in doubt - stick him with the needle". Its a shame cos Ellis has had to grow up way quicker than other kids. I trust him more than some adults:rolleyes: . He always remembers to ask if its got nuts in if its a new food, he knows he cant swap food at lunchtime like other kids, he knows he cant eat sweets, he knows he cant use liquid soap etc. The list goes on and on...but he's great. It doesnt really phase him and we still eat out regularly etc. Its just the attitude of some so-called responsible adults that makes me sick.

Sorry:rolleyes1 - 2nd rant over:rolleyes1

Hail Dorothy,hail Dorothy.....

Unsavory.....Incidents....Jack Sparrow..... I look forward to it!!

Chris I think, though Dorothy will confirm in September... that non drinkers can come and join in the fun for FREE! up to about 50 people in total ( room size)

That each person is charged on their Key to the world card.

The wine tasting will be on an at sea day, not sure of times Yet? the normal one was at 2pm so we might be around that time I guess.

Im more than happy to liase with Dorothy, however Im praying my saviour Jeff is doing a table on the KK web site!

LindyLooHoo, it's already been done last night. Just ask and you shall receive. Jeff hopped right on it.

Sure, but what happens if I have tee many martoonies?? You gonna walk ME home?

I got your back Cass. We'll walk each other home and who know's?, maybe Jack Sparrow will help.:pirate:

WHAAAAAT?? I can't believe I'm reading this!:scared1: And it came from a nun? Inconceivable! (Or should that be UNconceivable Cass/Brenda?:goodvibes )

Just got up and haven't read back yet, but Nancy, I have to ask, where is the rain they said we'd have? It is sunny out by me. Kinda blew sleeping in knowing it will get crappy later. :headache:

I also never heard of Poutine. I learned something new. Cass, I have a friend from Canada and she puts vinegar on her fries. We both had the same look on our faces ( ) when she saw us put Ketchup on our fries.:rotfl2:

Karen, I'm so sorry you had to go through this too. I can only imagine how hard that was to almost have to pull Ellis out. Unfortuneately, in Ellis' eyes, YOU would have been the unpopular one and not his leader. I'm glad it all turned out in the end. Kudos to the other leader!!:yay:

You have beautiful children - lovely photos.:goodvibes

Agreed! Did we also see Averys Mommy in one of those pictures?

Well I'll send the gloom down by you, then you won't feel so bad about sleeping in.

At least the day is half over - only another 5 hours to go:rolleyes:

I have been within 5 feet of the phone all day and have both of my mobile phones fully charged and in my pocket. Yes, I have 2 mobile phones just incase the first one battery dies on me I am always contactable. Now you see why my handbags are never small.:rotfl:

I just hope he's enjoyed it and its been worth the worry.

What does everyone think about the group photo being just before the wine tasting? Those who arent participating could bring themselves and the children to get the photo took and then the rest of us can start on the wine:banana:

Its the obvious opportunity when we're all getting together anyway.

We could always do a "before" and then "after wine tasting" photo to see who's still standing:rotfl:

Has anyone recently checked availability of our cruise? I just did and it only showed Cat. 4, 11, 12 available. Does this mean the ship is going to be full? :scared: I was hoping an Oct. cruise wouldn't be packed.

I just checked for 2 adults as well as 2 adults plus 1 child (our situation) and ALL non-Suite categories came up (4-12). Plus the rate is still only $200 more than we paid. If prices are still that low, I don't see the ship being too full. It will be telling when we get to the cancellation date (I think 75 days) what the prices are. Also, availability at that time will tell us how full it is.

However, once we get inside that mark, they will probably have FL Discounts along with possibly DVC and Military discounts so they can fill the ship.

50 total will be perfect I think. That would be about 2 each (drinkers and non-drinkers).

You may want to see what room they are doing it in and if it is one of the bars (I'm guessing Sessions - I think that is where Suz did it last time), maybe they can have a bar tender for the non-wine drinkers (though we can just bring it in from another bar).

The database is up on the KK site, so make sure you all fill it in if you are interested in going. It will help Linda out. (Linda, if you have a list and want me to enter it, send it to me. I will put the data in and people can then go edit it if they need to.)

Good morning Karen.
I can't believe the problems you had with Ellis and day camp. He would have been crushed if he couldn't go, thank goodness another counselor stepped forward. You need to DIS for awhile, that will make the time go faster.

Glad you said before the wine tasting, after may not be such a pretty picture.
