Wow,

Learn something new everyday. :cool1: You'll have to fill us all in.

Robin

Didn't want to mention my cooking talents in front of Mike. Because, every dish in La has food touching each other.

In our family, the Gumbo and Potato Salad is in the same dish while you eat it. Combines Cold Potato Salad and Hot Gumbo, nothing but the best...:rotfl:

When we get together, I will treat you, Robin. Know that Mike couldn't stand the site of that meal....:dance3:

I will "Bake" Mike a chicken on the Stove, another one of family favorite for his enjoyment with Fries:woohoo:

Walt

This recipe is from Commander's Palace...

1 1/2 cups milk
1 /2 cup heavy cream
12 ounces brandy
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup very cold water
1 tablespoon vanilla

nutmeg to taste

Combine the milk, cream, brandy, sugar, water, and vanilla in a large pitcher. Stir well - serve over ice and sprinkle with nutmeg.

pardon the expression (again) but this packs quite a punch! :rotfl2:

heh walt your gumbo sounds good to and so does yours disgrits i will try to make one of them if you tell me how:cool2:

This sounds great, Brenda! The recipe I have is from Brennan's I think. I received it from someone who said it was from there....who knows?

Hi, I make the best Gumbo and Potato Salad in La
Born in Jennings and High School in Iowa. Graduated from McNeese.:cool1:

Mother lives in Iowa and my brother retired to a farm in Ragley. :happytv:

Glad to chit chat about La on the cruise, if time permits. :)

Moved to Tx after Navy duty. :rolleyes1

Walt

Oh my goodness!!

Of course I know of Jennings and Iowa (my folks pronounce it "Eye-Oh-Way--is that right?) and McNeese! I am a graduate of USL, now known as UL. Many of my high school teachers are McNeese alumni. They used to always sing "Jolie Blonde." Both Rob and I grew up in Delcambre (25 miles south of Lafayette) and are spending a month (probably gaining weight) there this summer on our way to Virginia. Yes it will be great to talk about La with you on the cruise.

And BTW, everyone (except for me)in my and Rob's families eats potato salad IN their gumbo too.

I think we need to take the galley tour on the ship and ask them if we can "season" their pots. :lmao: Not that there's anything wrong with DCL food--I love it. Can wait to ask you about your different ways of cooking different foods!:goodvibes

here is a story i think is funny

Ladies and gentleman, hobos and tramps, wierd-eyed mosquitoes, and bowlegged ants pull up a chair and sit on the floor to here a story never heard before

Early one morning late last night two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other drew there swords and shot each other the def policeman heard the noise and got up and shot those two dead boys if you don’t believe this story is true ask the blind man he saw it too.

In the words of Rachael Ray....Yummo!!

Someone on the main thread brought up a good point about booking a hotel in PC before the cruise. They were saying that if NASA announces a shuttle launch on the weekend we are departing/arriving into port, the hotels will book up, so it is better to reserve earlier rather than later. I have my ressies already, but that is because I have DCL OCD; I hadn't thought about the hotels booking up because of a shuttle launch. This may have been mentioned before, but I thought I'd pass it on anyway........

How's everybody's night going? I have Alex reading to me while I DIS(horrible mom moment, I guess). He has to read for 30 minutes every night. I love that they assign reading to the kids every night. It calms them down so much before going to bed and it brings up their reading levels tremendously!

Hiya friends!

I'm updating the ol' argie...waiting for pictures to upload...waiting for inspiration...doing laundry. We have another wedding this weekend...and then hopefully the madness will stop for a bit. ;)

Nancy - that recipe (which is original to Commander's Palace - pulled it from my cookbook tonight) is definitely yummo! Fine and dandy like sour candy! ;)

That recipe does look awesome. I love it on a rainy day. Even though the drink is cold, the brandy warms you up quite nicely, doesn't it?

Jeff - what great news! Welcome back! I sort of picked up on a few clues, but didn't want to spoil anything, just in case I was imagining things!

I'm working on the life-sized "Borat" for your door. :scared1:

Just make sure it's magnetic! No tape now.

I'm getting a piece of my very favorite white chocolate raspberry cheescake tomorrow. It's my birthday! DH's gonna stop by on his way home, and pick up dinner for me, with that scrumptious dessert. Yummy! He's so sweet!

Paige, good thinking on booking PC early. You're so right. If they do announce a launch, it's gonna get real busy around there! Anyone know what time launches usually are? Hope there's not a ton of traffic getting out there.

Night all!

party: :bday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!! :bday: party:

Enjoy your cheesecake!:yay:

We too booked our hotel in PC last year but I never thought about the shuttle. Now we just have to hope that they don't give our reservations away. It's happened to us once in Orlando. Even with a confirmation!:scared1:

Thanks by the way for the props on the trippie...I wasn't sure if anyone other than me would find it funny. So thanks for laughing!! :lmao:

Karen, photobucket might have gone wonky while you were reading...the pictures (all 3 of them) are showing now. They're all of Plankton, for what it's worth.

Have a good day, everyone! :goodvibes
