Hi all - just a quick pop in before I get back to work.

Today was Pajama Day at Katie's school, but unfortunately, I wasn't told. So, I drop her off, and notice all the kids in her class wearing pajamas. She looks at me, with these big sad eyes, and pleads for me to go back home and get her jammies. Ugh! There was just no way I could do that. I felt like such a beast of a mommy.

Abby - glad to hear the cruise is still a go for your family!

Hi Everyone.

Hope everyone's doing well.

Best of wishes to Paige's Dad:wizard:
and to Nancy's mom.

Tina, I know how you feel, sorry.
Your daughter will soon forget about it. Don't "SHOULD" on yourself too much. I'm sure you're a great Mom. Hey you're taking your kids on a Disney Cruise!

Happy Weekend everyone!
(for those who don't have to work....of which I am not one of them.)

Best news yet. It's warming up to 45degrees here tomorrow!
Let the meltdown begin!:woohoo:

Rose

Hi everyone, it took me a while to get caught up with all the posts. Sorry about the lack of posting but life is busy lately. I spent last week dealing with illness, DS Sean had a 102 temp for 4 days and just when he gets better I get sick.(isn't that the way it always goes). I have had a sinus infection and the flu for three days but I still had to go to work because my partner also had it and we needed the coverage at work.

Congrats to Eloise, I know how hard it is to get the belts. We do Karate in our house my DD Kaitie(12) is currently training for her second degree Black Belt and DS Sean(5) id a yellow belt in the Little Ninjas and I am currently a Yellow Belt in the Adult category. Last December in her testing for 1st degree Black belt Kaitie broke 2 bricks with her elbow. We don't have to worry about her against the boys, she can kick but.

I work in the Brokerage industry and the last 2 weeks have been full of pressure, luckily for our team that the clients we deal with our very well off and the down turn does not bother them as much, thank the lord it is starting to rise again and I can relax a little each day.

We are really looking forward to this cruise because it will be a year since our last vacation and we are used to doing 2 a year. We are trying to build the savings so our Spring WDW trip was canceled.

Diva, My son Sean will be turning six right before the cruise so he should be just the right age for your son. He is a very friendly little boy and loves to play with everyone. I spent the afternoon home with him today, decided to take a 1/2 day to relax, and her was playing in the play-land at Mickie D's and all the kids were having a blast. You would think that the knew each other forever. the moms were another story, they came in packs and I think they realize that I am not a stay home mom and they will not talk to me. I had that problem when my DD was young but my son's school has so many working parents that you don't see it as much.

Now that I have talked your ears off I'll leave you all for now.

Have a great night
Judy:wizard:

I forgot to tell you all, I signed on to Midwest Airlines to check our seats for the October flight and found that the great flight we had book at 9 am has not been canceled and we are going at 7:30 am and arriving at 11 am. I had booked the later flight so we would not be hitting the airport during rush hour and so that we would arrive a little later in the day. Since we are DVC members we can't check in until 4 (most times) so we sit around all day. We usually hit Beaches & Cream for lunch and then wait. Maybe we will get lucky and get our room early for once. Maybe I will have the kids put their swimsuits in my carry-on bag and let them hit the pool while we wait. grandma and grandpa can lay in the lounge and rest while we wait. We are doing MNSSHP that night so we will need to rest a little. I wish they would announce, officially, the MNSSHP days so I would know if Friday is one that way we could go Friday instead of rushing it on Thursday. If anyone sees the MNSSHP announcement before me let me know so that I can book tickets and dinner at LTT for that night

Thanks
Judy:surfweb:

Thanks Rose for your kind words! You're so right. Katie really didn't care all that much when I picked her up. I was more concerned than she was! And yep - can't be all that bad if they're going on a Disney Cruise!

Judy - sorry to hear you & your family have been sick. Isn't that always the way. Just when they get over it, then the parents get it! Who baby's us when we're sick? And I completly understand about the later flight schedule. Catching a 9am is sooo much easier than a 730am. At least they didn't cancel the morning flight altogether. Especially if you're trying to get to MNSSHP that same evening.

We were telling Katie a bit about the last time she was on a Disney cruise. She loved listening to the stories. She was only 17 months at the time, and getting in her molars. Ugh! It really was awful, timing wise! We had bought her a plush DCL Dale (guess they didn't have Chip at the time.) So, now she's scheming on what she wants to buy this time 'round. Plus, she loves pins, so she wants some special DCL pins to go in her pinbook. Should be tons of fun!

Happy Weekend!

Hey Brenda - I just started reading your trip report. I'm up to the start of Day 2. When I get caught up. I'll post something there. I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying it. I need to find a picture of our mascot, Travels, wearing his blue Mickey ears. (ahem, antenna ball!)

Diva, My son Sean will be turning six right before the cruise so he should be just the right age for your son. He is a very friendly little boy and loves to play with everyone. Judy:wizard:

Judy and Diva: My son turns 6 in August so he will also be the right age to hang together. He is also very friendly. We'll have to introduce them to each other.

Hey all. Thanks again for all the kind words. My dad's surgery was scheduled for Tuesday the 13th. The doc's office called today and said they are rescheduling for Thursday the 15th. I felt so bad for my dad as he is ready to get this over with....Oh well, I am still leaving on Sunday to go home, so it will give us a couple more days to have a little fun before he goes under the knife.

AFEG, just let me know what you want and we will try to get it......no problem. Oh and did you notice that when you quoted me to answer me, it posted me as "districts" instead of "disgrits'? HMMM.....

Ok, all, I am off to watch TV or play Nintendo DS (yes I know I am so scholarly).......Have a good night......:hippie:

Hi everybody,

Judy - sorry to hear you've all been poorly:hug: - hope you're all better soon.

I got the dates for MNSSHP off the Dibb (uk version of the dis site) - Oct 15/16/18/29/30. We are looking to do either 16 or 18 or 29 or 30. I'm guessing 29 and 30th will be much busier than then 16/18th? Never been before - really looking forward to it:banana:

It sounds like there are quite a few young boys and girls on this cruise - nearer the time it might be good if we get them chatting on the kids thread with our help of course - it would take Ellis an hour to type one sentance otherwise! They'll all be in the 5-7 kids club I guess, so it would be nice to get them chatting before and sending a photo of each other so they know who to look out for?:confused3 - I think there is a meet on the first day in the kids club where we can go in aswell to show them around etc. I intend taking Ellis to it so he can get acquainted with it all early on and be comfortable and happy there, and then that way we get to try out that adult pool later in the cruise;) .

We're off to an adventure place today - it has a big zipline for the kids - Mommy might just get to have a go if there arent too many kids watching:banana:

Whats everyone else doing this weekend? - something nice I hope.:goodvibes

Paige - how annoying they have moved the surgery date:sad2: - at least you'll be able to have some nice time at home before being nurse.

Well, have a great weekend everyone:wave2:

Hi everybody...been off the pace since Thursday and I thought I'd better get out here and fill you in on the doings that have transpired in my neck of the woods.

Long story long, because I don't know how to be brief....

Jay and I have been struggling during the last three weeks to find a way to still take this cruise in October.

We've had some serious foundation issues develop since late January and the estimates to fix it are approaching the cost of a 14-night Panama Canal cruise in a concierge level room. We had planned on using our expected Federal Income Tax refund to payoff the cruise balance (even though the practical thing would have been to put it towards the cost of repairs) but then we got smacked upside the head by the government on Thursday...

We owe this year thanks to the AMT and the fact that most of our itemized deductions are mortgage interest. I never knew that the federal government considered Jay and I wealthy...wait until I tell Bill Gates.

So, thanks to all the leftover medical bills from last year and some from this year coupled with a bad foundation and a federal government that penalizes dual income families...our cruise fund just went Poseidon Adventure.

Now you know part of the reason for my ill-health on Thursday...upset doesn't begin to describe it, but I've realized that in the overall scheme of things our situation could be much worse and there is no reason to whine about it.

Since we have sailed this itinerary once before, we really don't mind missing the cruise itself. What we mind is missing the chance to share the cruise experience with you fine people, who I think have come together to form one of the kindest, warmest, and friendliest cruise threads I've ever seen on the DIS.

I regret deeply that Jason and I will not have an opportunity to meet some of you in person, although we do still plan on being at WDW the week before the cruise is scheduled to leave and would love to meet up with any of you who are so inclined.

I hope that I can still hang out here and on the Yahoo group to provide any planning assistance, advice, or misplaced humor that you might need. Your cruise planning and excitement are still something that we can enjoy, even if we don't get to share it this time.

As the 20th of October comes ever closer I know I'll be thinking of you...I'll see you in my mind's eye at the cruise terminal, wearing lime green (except for Cass - inconceivable!) and mardi gras beads...I'll see you at your first DIS-meet, windblown and happy, trying to figure out how the hell that tag game really works...I'll see you seated together in the dining rooms, eating my shrimp ;) ...I'll picture some of you hanging out in the spa or at the Cove Cafe (vive le mochaccino!!)...and AFEG, I just know you're going to keep alive our tradition of elevator tag!

Most all I know that every single one of you are going to have a wonderful trip and will have so many stories to share that I will be reading 10/20/07 trip reports for months afterwards. My wish for this group is that you all have great health, great fun, and great sailing because you all deserve it.

Well, thanks for putting up with me and my over-long post. I think I'm going to go weep a little weep before Jason gets home from work.

See you all later, and happy cruising.

Brenda :goodvibes

Oh Brenda...noooooooooooooooooo....

I cant believe when I started reading this post that it would be a sad one:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: ... I was expecting your usual witty humour washed down with a good dose of Simpsons... I wasnt ready to read this:sad:   - I cant believe you guys arent cruising with us:sad1: - who is gonna write our ever so witty trippie???? What about Plankton???? - Doesnt he have a say in all this???? His towel floozy will be waiting for him! ;)

Ok, I will try not to beg but pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase come on our cruise:hug:

If its totally impossible then our thoughts are with you and Jason and I'm terribly sad for all of us - you'll be sadly missed - especially when it comes to writing the trippie;) and if all else fails I will gladly take Plankton onboard:goodvibes .

We would happily meet up with you both for a drink the week before.

Maybe the tax man got it wrong and you'll be getting a huge payback after all:confused3 - fingers crossed - I hope so:hug:

Brenda-
I am SO SORRY that all this is happening!!!!!!!!!! You know the saying "When it rains it pours". Well I'd venture to say you both are stuck in a hurricane right now. :grouphug: I hope you can get everything sorted out and start planning for your next cruise. In the meantime, here's hoping you win the lottery and can stay with this one. You will surely be missed!

I was just skimming through the posts, wasn't going to post since I don't really have the time right now....then I read your post Brenda!!!!

I only have one thing to say to you...

INCONCEIVABLE!!!!!!!!!

Wow, we are gonna miss you guys!!! :sad1: Sounds silly since we haven't even met you yet.

I will definitely try to meet up with you guys the week before if our itinerary allows it (that's the hard part about travelling with family, gotta go with the flow)

Hurry up and win the lottery so you can join us after all AND take care of all your expenses!!! :cheer2:

By the by....Congrats to Elouise!!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2:
We better be careful we don't make you mad, we will be living across the hall from you and you could kick our butts!!!! ;)

Brenda,

Your decision not only affected your beloved Konked Kruisers. Look, even Cabo had to resort to hiding his tears behind those glasses.

0308071543.jpg

Hope this cheers everyone up a little.

Thanks for all the special thoughts for my mom. She is doing better, just banged up quite a bit. She'll be ok though.

I've been checking in every now and then in the past week and it's been really quiet lately. Where's Linda??? Where's Chris?? Where are all our Konked Kruisers?? (Both "Official" and "Honorary" members)? :confused3

Come back everyone!!:yay:

BTW..Cass...I watched your videos again tonight!! After our recent bad news on this thread I really needed a pick me up. Thanks for cheering up my evening without even knowing you did.:cool2:
