**October 2016 Check-in!**

We just cancelled our Oct 22nd trip. The main reason we were going at that time was for the halloween party but we decided the etrat $600 (Canadian) wasn't worth it

That's a bummer, but it looks like you are still going for christmas?! It was so magical when we went. The holiday castle show made me cry.

Can anyone remind me when I can purchase tours? I'm coming up on my 60 day mark, so I know I can make dining ressies soon, but can't remember when I can make tour purchases. Last trip I waited too late.

I tried to book the Happiest Haunts Tour at 60 days out and the CM said tours can't be booked until 30 days out.

Made two of our dining reservations today! Cafe Orleans for lunch on October 4 and Surf's Up Character breakfast for October 5 (Halloween Party day for my trip). Just waiting on WoC dining packages to become available so we can book that for Monday October 3. :jumping1:

Looking forward to our Oct 2 - 8th Trip, 56 days to go!
FWIW:
We did the Haloween Party 3 years ago as a standalone day.
Was hard on us, but that was our own fault, DD 5, DS 8, DD 9. Went on Friday, the night we flew in. Over stimulating for all of us after travelling a full day, made getting up early the next day hard.
Long lines for Candy, way too many carrots and craisins :)
It was a Friday so sold out and a bit of a madhouse.

However -
Kids Loved their costumes. We got costumes specifically for the trip
The decorations were great
Fun start to the trip, very different to the rest of the experience.

Would I do it again? Yes, but with a different strategy:
1. As a "day 6" or a standalone day in the middle of a trip. Use the daytime as a down day and go from ~5 to ~ 10pm
2. Mix up the treat lines with more rides. we Kinda got obsessed about the treat lines.

We are on a 5 day trip, so no Haloween Party this time around.

OMG you guys! Why am I doing this to myself? I'm watching ride through videos and generally just getting super excited about our trip! I'm thinking it's so far away because we're going over fall break and the kids haven't even started school yet! But as some of you are making dining reservations already, I realize I can make them in two weeks! I'm having fun reading about everyone's MHP plans. We won't be attending a party but it's fun to read about what costumes you all have plans for, etc. :mickeyjum Getting so excited!!!

My daughter starts school on Thursday. I've already warned her that we will be doing double school each day so that we can get ahead for out trip in October. I figure the first week or two should be the easiest to double up on.

Now, if she would stop outgrowing all her costumes, we'd be all set.

Since our ADR window just opened I went ahead and made my reservations...then changed them...then changed a few again. I had planned to do BB at dinner at 4:50 (it was the last res of the day since its a party night) but I really do want a water side table and the general consensus is that this is easier to do earlier in the day and that got me thinking that if the park is closing and I'm the last to be seated they might be more likely to tell me they can't accommodate special seating requests since I can't just wait longer for one to open up. So a birthday lunch at BB on 10/3 a pre party late lunch at carnation cafe on 10/5 and dinner at cafe orleans on 10/6. I think I'll leave the rest up to what we feel like in the moment. I cant wait to go!

Now I need to start thinking about my costume. I am not crafty.

This doesnt pertain to October so much....but i just booked a last minute trip to see PTN and Forever!!! We leave in 10 days and will be in the parks for the 19th and 20th!! Im also upgrading my 5 day park hopper (that i already have for the October trip) to an AP when i get there! I know im losing out on the MM but that's ok. I NEEDED to see PTN in person. I'm going with my sister who is going to be 16 weeks pregnant, so its going to be a very easy going trip. No kids. No husbands. Just food and ambiance with the main focus of the 60th offerings. I never thought I would make it to the 60th. Two Disney trips in two months. This is my heaven.

I am so jealous. Its a great opportunity to see them knowing that it will be the last time. I feel like I would have done things differently on my march trip if I had know that they were going away (like do a PTN dinner package and made sure I was right in front of the castle for forever. I only saw it from our room across the street without the projections). At the time I told myself we'd be back in 6 months so it was ok to miss a few things but now I know better. Enjoy!

DW and I will be driving down from October 15th-22nd and staying at Hotel Indigo, they were awesome last time. We usually get a short weekend but I really look forward to these longer trips we do once a year so we can slow down and just enjoy everything.

Definitely going to the Halloween party on the 21st. Still on the fence about the happy haunts tour though. Hoping for a review when it starts in September.

We are coming down on October 12, leaving on the 16th. We have our tickets for MHP on the 14th. We haven't been to the party before and I can't wait! We are still looking for ideas for our costumes, but we are leaning towards Haunted Mansion ghosts. I'm watching the calendar for the day I can book our dining reservations.

We will be at DLR October 14 & 15th staying at CCI to celebrate my best friends birthday with 10 girlfriends. It's a no kids/no husband trip so it will be interesting. I know I will miss my kids a ton but then my wallet will be fatter at the end of this trip, lol! DH has sworn off Disneyland after a not so fun November 2015 trip, so he is happy he isn't going :sad2:

are you ladies going to MHP while you are there?! I hope some day I am in a group of friends that wants to Disney without kids! Right now they all just laugh at me haha! What happend to make your husband not want to go?!?

So, PtN is leaving the beginning of Sept. then briefly returning Nov/Dec. MSEP starts January? (or did I just read into that?) So, no nighttime entertainment for October unless you go to MHP. hmmm... I'm kind of wishing we had opted for a Christmas trip instead of Halloween...

They have said "in the new year" but not narrowed it down to a specific time for MSEP, at least that I have seen.

Yeah... Now I'm thinking I "need" :rolleyes1 to book a trip for Easter (instead of Legoland) so we can see MSEP. The problem is, I can't really afford to do either. I have to come up with a way to raise some money. My dad died suddenly on Easter Sunday 2013, so we go away now. We can't face the Egg Hunt at church without him there.

Then I start thinking, that since we are going in Oct, then add April, we probably should get APs and go again in Oct 2017. So, that means I need to come up with another 1000+ $ before October, to upgrade our park hoppers.

I'm making my brain hurt!

just passed our two month mark!!!
I am excited if MSEP comes to disneyland, I am planning to be there in Feb and May 2017 which I hope both times it runs since we only got to see PTN once
