***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Need some advice from the more experienced DISers out there.....we are going the first week of October. We got a 30% off code for any resorts, which we will use if free dining isn't offered this year. We have only been 1 time and we bought DVC points and stayed at AKL-Kidani village, which was awesome, but we hardly spent any time there, basically just to sleep. We want to try and spend less $$ this trip, so are looking at the value resorts. Which ones are your favorite and why, would you recommend it? :confused3 Need your advice asap, as we have to book by Feb 9 according to the offer we received. TIA :goodvibes

Personally, I think POP has the best bang for your buck. They have great pools and a fantastic food court. We have stayed there several times and will be staying there this year, as well. You really can't go wrong, though. We only use the room to shower and sleep, so the cheaper the better. Although, for the extra $5 a night, we still prefer POP.

Reservations Placed.

Going with my sister and brother-in-law again (who are staying at the same resort but booked separately), like we did back in Nov 2010 but this time I'm bringing my girlfriend along, who's never been to WDW.

Hello!! How great that you got that code:yay: If you are looking at the values, personally I would go with either POP or ASMo, because they are newly renovated. My son LOVED ASMo for the movie characters, if that matters to your kids. I like POP for its theme, the lake, and now because you'll be so close to AoA :) Both resorts have great food courts with yummy food for everybody, and the same amenities. Keep in mind that ASMo do share buses with its sisters resorts and is the last one to be pick up/ drop off

Pop Century, no contest. They have their own bus system and the resort is newer. Plus they just refurbished all the rooms in 2010. The All Stars are outdated in my opinion. And the Pop Century food court is pretty good. Love that tie dye cheesecake! :thumbsup2

OMG how am I going to make it through the next 247 days???? Taking our 4 yo twin daughters for their first trip, 9/27-10/6, AKL! Constantly revisiting my dining spreadsheet so I'm ready to make ADRs, packing lists, ride & show lists... this was so much easier when DH & I went by ourselves in 2004. Going to be a very long wait :rolleyes1

I'm feeling the same way!!! I have 249 days! I look at how many days we've passed though since we started planning! We've already got through 146 days!!!!

I don't think I do anything but plan this trip. But then I haven't been to WDW since I was 15....that was 17 years ago!!!!!!! So I am MORE than excited to be going and taking my 3 kids for their very first vacation EVER! :woohoo:

We're official! 10 of us (my family of 5, my SIL, her husband, and their daughter, and my parents-in-law) will be at WDW October 26-30th to celebrate my in-laws' 40th anniversary!

Since it's a big trip, we're going all in: theme park view at the Contemporary, hopper tickets, dining plan, MNNSHP.

I booked everything today and the airfare went up significantly while I was on the phone so half of our tickets are far more expensive than the other half. :scared1: Hoping for a good fall deal to come around to take off some of that sting.

Really looking forward to my trip! None of my in-laws are Disney fans, so it's my job to plan the most awesome vacation possible and win them all over. I believe there's something at The World for just about everyone!

That's an awesome vacation you've got going already!! We are going to be there at the same time as you guys...but we'll be staying off site. I have a feeling that you will be able to save either with a room only discount or free dining for your dates..good luck and happy planning!

Booked last week for Oct 14-20 at Pop. Can't wait. It's been 5 yrs since last visit. Also will be the first for Food and Wine and DH and I are extremly excited for it. It will also be a bday trip for my DD. It's too far away though. I'm trying to not to do all my planning now. lol

I booked our 2nd trip last week for Oct 14-20 at Pop. We will be celebrating twice that week. Our wedding anniversary is Oct 2nd so we are waiting to celebrate in the World and my DD's bday is Nov 6 so we will be celebrating that as well.

I bought The Unofficial planner the other day to help with planning. I bought it previously and loved it. We are only getting the Quick Service DP but are going to do 2 table service meals. Crystal Palace is a must as per DH and DD. The dinner not so sure about but am thinking House of Blues in Downtown Disney.

One thing I'm really excited for is The Food & Wine Festival. Last time we went it was August so we didn't get to experience it.

I'm afraid if I start doing to much planning right now it will be all done before I know it then the next 262 days will take even longer.

Happy planning everyone!!!!!

Good luck with that. I said the same thing and failed miserably. Now I'm working on a planning binder so at least that's something to keep me occupied!

OMG!! I was gonna come on here and post my tentative schedule based on Touring Plan's estimated calendar. :surfweb: I guess maybe it's too soon to be doing that? :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone! I don't know about you, but I can't help but start planning the trip now that the resort and airfare has been booked!!

We are planning our first family trip to Disney and park planning is stumping me. Can I ask for some advice? Please!?!

We will be spending 4 days at the parks. I'm thinking 2 MK, 1 EP, and 1 HS. The kids will be 5 and 8 at the time. We're hoping to attend MNSSHP one night. I also want to be at the MK on a non-party day so we can enjoy the regular fireworks. Based on the calendar from easywdw last year, dates would correspond to Oct 26-29, (http://www.easywdw.com/category/calendar/october2011/), which day should we go to which park?

26 - MK?
27 - EP?
28 - MK?
29 - HS?

It would be nice to take advantage of EMH on the 27th at MK though. I'm just not sure the kids would be happy with 2 days straight of MK and then not returning. Make sense? Any assistance/advice would be greatly appreciated by this newbie!

Post away! We're there at similar times and I'm having a hard time figuring out our schedule :)

My family and I will be there from October 5th, thru October 13th. I'm so excited! I'm a native Floridian, but have lived in Alabama for the past 5 years. I can't wait to go back home again!!

I know your dilemma! I'm constantly looking over old hours for that time of year to plan my own schedule. The F&W festival will be going on and I've never been, but, I have read on here it can get more crowded during the weekend because of locals. For me, I would do: 26-Epcot, 27-MK&EMH, 28-HS, 29-MKand MNNSHP(I think these last days right before Halloween the MNNSHP is offered everyday, it seems?). If not, I would do 26-Epcot, 27-MK, 28-MK & MNSSHP, 29-HS. No matter, I hope you all have a wonderful trip!:goodvibes

No way! I've started posting my day plans to my PTR. I know where I wanna go on each day and where I want to eat. :rotfl: It's a sickness, I know.

I'm soooo excited! We have spoken with our TA and are officially going to DW Oct 6-13th, staying at the POR!!! Can't wait! :dance3: This is the first time for my kids (will be 8pirate: and 6princess:)! The last time I went was about 20 years ago!! Yikes! I see many of you are a bit like me - I'm OCD DISNEY!! I've already got my ADRs pretty well planned out and what days we want to go where! My parents are coming along with us too! Already bought my DD a few Mickey, Tinkerbell, and Princess shirts to wear down there and she is getting a Minnie Mouse for Valentine's Day! Just super excited that we are official now!:yay:
