***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

We will be in Disney for our second October trip. October 21st - October 27th. Cannot wait!!!

I just purchased our tickets for MNSSHP for the 23rd. Last time we went on a Friday and it was awesome but packing and leaving the next morning was just too hard. :(

In question to the weather....in 2010 when we went (very end of October for Halloween), I remember it being very warm and I never really needed a hoodie or anything at night. I love the heat though so I was happy with it! Hopefully the weather is nice again this time around. :yay:

How soon should I buy MNSSHP for the October 30th night? I was told it wasnt a very busy night and wouldn't sell out very fast... Thoughts?

I did already book some ADRs though: Coral Reef lunch and Ohana breakfast. Other than that, trying to convince my DH that going from the Ohana breakfast straight to MK for my daughter's BBB makeover is fine, cuz it'll be on her birthday. He's not quite sold on that idea yet...

I would buy them as soon as you can this way you don't have to worry about them selling out. We went on the 29th ( Friday) back in 2010 and I can't remember whether it sold out or not but I did buy my tickets as soon as they went on sale just to have peace of mind that I wouldn't have to change plans around.

How hot is it usually in October?

We were there last year 10/22-10/29. The mornings were cool in the high 70s and in the day we were in the high 80s, maybe a day or two in the low 90s. Coming from Texas, the weather was not an issue for us. MNSSHP we actually took a light sweater since it was a cooler night.

I have seen lots of posts that say that any date over the week of Halloween could sell out. Last year, someone was able to buy a ticket for the 30th that same day. We are going on the 30th this year, and my tickets came in the mail yesterday. I was not willing to risk it because that is the day that works best for our schedule. Depending on your trip dates, and if you are flexible, you could wait, but I say if the 30th is really what you want, you might as well get the tickets. The party goes on rain or shine.

I'm from Louisiana, so I know about heat/humidity as well...but that doesn't mean I want it to be hot on our trip.

I sweat easily and it just looks bad and is uncomfortable.

We just decided to go Sept 29-Oct 2! We will be staying at CBR. (Our first stay at a mod!) It is a very short trip, but the whole reason for our trip is to be there on Oct 1 for EPCOT's 30th birthday!:cake: I haven't seen where they have anything special planned, but with it being our favorite park, we just want to be there on that day! We also want to check out the Food & Wine Festival; another first for us! We will only be spending a half day in MK and then 2 whole days at EPCOT. We would love to stay longer, but I figure that a short trip is better than no trip, right?!?!:confused3

Seems you interperted what I wrote another way. To me high 80s is cool since we are used to much warmer weather. :goodvibes

I wish it was September right now so our trip would only be a few weeks away rather than a few months! Not to wish the summer away (which I can't wait for because it's been cold, rainy, and a misserable spring here in MA).

We need the rain though. It had been dry for so long that we were getting multiple brush fires.

Oh I totally agree- I just wish it would rain all night, and be mild and sunny during the day!!!

It was so dreary today that when I went to get my nails painted for a wedding shower I have to attend this weekend, I did them florescent orange! :scared1:
Now I have to find clothes to wear that don't clash!! :rotfl:

This spring hasn't really been miserable. It's really only rained a few days this week and a few days last week. Before that we hadn't seen much rain. And both March and April were well above normal temperature. I think it's been a pretty good spring actually. I remember 2 years ago when it really could be classified as cold, rainy and miserable because it rained for weeks and it was flooded just about everywhere.

Agreed. It's been rainy lately but for about a month solid we had no rain and it was 70-80 degrees! I'm loving it.

:banana:We will be staying in one of the Royal rooms at POR. 10/13/-10/21. Can't wait. this will be our 3rd trip to WDW.

Hi everyone! :wave2: We will be there September 29 - October 6. This will be our last trip with our AP we bought for the first time ever last fall. We will be trying Bonnet Creek for the first time, I'm looking forward to it. I love staying onsite but also love having a kitchen and space to spread out. If we can swing it (with money and vacation time) we may stay a few extra days on site. This is my favorite time of year to go, we will most likely be going to MNSSHP again, it's so much fun!

So far for meals we have Cinderella's Royal Table (first time), Chef Mickey's, and Coral Reef. Excited to plan with you all!

My new thing to be concerned about this week is the heat.

Summer finally kicked in last week here in New Orleans, and it's always miserable outside.

Our last trip was the second week of November, and it was nearly perfect temperature-wise...here's hoping jumping three weeks ahead of that doesn't change much.

We were there the third week of October last year and it was beautiful. Low to mid 80s during the day and very low humidity. It was cool enough some nights to wear long pants. It was my absolute favorite time to go weather wise, because, while I absolutely hate the heat, we went mid December once and froze and that was pretty miserable too, especially with little kids. But that third week of October was perfect.

Hello everyone! Just joining in the October thread... Almost all ressies etc. hooked up. Only waiting for Firework dessert party to open up for Oct... Glad to be part of the discussion group.

Can I join? We are heading down October 19th-26th staying at SSR. First time on-site and I am so excited about it:cool1: We are planning on MNSSHP, 3 park days, 1 Harry Potter World day and we have to go to clearwater to see Winter from Dolphin Tale. I haven't booked any ressie's yet because we just got confirmed with the hotel. It's kind of hard too because we don't know which of the three days of our week we will be doing MNSSHP and that morning we will be doing Ohana's character breakfast. Waiting until we get down there to check the weather.

What day would you do MNSSHP Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday??

and maybe Chip and Dale's Harvest Feast??

What and where is this??

It's the Garden Grill character dinner with Chip and Dale. We go every trip.

"Join Chip 'n Dale—your hosts with the most—for Chip 'n Dale's Harvest Feast, an all-you-care-to-eat, family-style dinner. Enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, including grilled steak, roast turkey, and sustainable fish of the day. And make sure you save some room for the special desserts."
