***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

/
Me and Mrs CheshireCatsGrin are going between September 27th and October 11th. Kind of a second honeymoon, 26 years after the first one, and our first big holiday since Daughter No 1 and Daughter No 2 grew up (that's not as melancholy as it sounds since we are already thinking of coming over with them and their boyfs in a year or two!)

Staying at Vista Cay resorts, should be good!

Can't wait :cool1:

Hey everyone, we just booked our sons 1st trip to Disney World. :cool1:

Oct 14-Oct20, 212

He will only be a 15 months old but my parents really wanted to go so we said yes. My parents haven;t been there since I was in a stroller and it was only Magic Kingdom. Epcot was just being built so I am equally excited for them to see the world as I am for my son.

btw...am I crazy to bring a 15 month old there? :confused3

Now to plan... :teacher:

My 1st DS was 18 months when he went. He LOVED it. There is so much to see and do for the little ones. Remember to take it easy. YOu can't go all cammando when you are traveling with a little one. Trust me, I am a cammando DIsney type but had to adjust after having kiddies. LOL

My 2nd DS will be 9 months when we go in Sept. I hope there is not a HUGE difference from bringing an 9 month old compared to bringing an 18 month old.

Your parents are gonna be so happy to see DIsney through the eyes of their grandbaby. Treasure those moments.

Just booked 10/4-10/7 at CR with free dining. Would prefer a good room only discount but none available so I'll take FD, even though we don't really care for the DP. We are locked in on the dates since our girls are in high school marching band and that's our only BYE weekend for football. Oldest will be a senior so this may be our last family fall trip. Our last MNSSHP was in October 2006 so I'm sure things are different now. Debating just letting the girls go while DH and I concentrate on F&W, although for Pete's sake, why is it Starship AGAIN? We've seen them like four times at F&W! So, what's changed about the party???

Oh my goodness, I think I might be joining in!!! I am never a last minute planner, but my sister is and just decided this sounds like a good time to go!

If all goes well, it will be my sis, her 4 kids, my husband and I and our 2 girls, and my father and possibly brother and sister in law! Eeek!

We are planning for Sept 30-October 6 (or so) for my sis and her fam and my dad and my family will be staying there an extra week and having our first Universal Studios visit. I am a bundle of nerves right now hoping this all goes into place and will happen! It's exciting but a bit overwhelming as I am used to planning my trips at least 6 months in advance. In fact, usually by this time, I have started packing, lol!

In case you missed it, there is a free dining promotion that was released this morning for your checkin date of 9/30. If you don't have a Disney Visa, the same offer will be released to the general public this Thursday.:goodvibes

Yes! I'm not a visa card holder, but I am definitely waiting for that free dining! I figured they would release it pretty soon, but was overjoyed when I saw it was a for sure thing. We did that on our last trip in Sept. '10 it saved us a ton of money! Cannot wait for my sister's children to experience the magic with us this time!!!

So these blackout dates for the free dining, do you guys think it has anything to do with year-round schooling? We just started year-round in our town, and we actually get two weeks off for fall break...the 2nd and 3rd weeks in October, when they claim the blackout dates are. Hmm...

Woohoo! DH and I just booked Coronado Springs for 10/19-10/27. We wanted two double beds and standard view. First choice was Riverside but only the new royal princess (not exactly what they are called I don't think) rooms had vacancy. Nothing available for us at French Quarter either. Only king bed option at Coronado, no doubles. Very surprised at the limited availability. We usually have no problem getting whatever we request. The CM did say we can try calling at a later date and see if anything opens up at Riverside and then switch it. Anyway, glad to have our trip booked and free dining! Good luck to everyone else. Now off to make dining ressies!

It's most likely a combination of school breaks in the US and Europe, along with on-site conventions and the Columbus Day weekend.

Really the only definite is that WDW hotel data is showing they are already booked well for the weeks free dining is blacked out. Black-out dates don't neccesarily mean the parks will be packed ... it just means that hotel booking is solid. I've been down during blackout dates in October where the hotels were more full due to conventions, and the parks weren't too bad. I have a feeling this year though, the school breaks will bring the crowd levels up compared the previous years, as I've seen the levels rise steadily year-to-year.

Free dining may initially indicate that parks may be less crowded, but that is only an indication that hotel booking is down. Never underestimate how free dining can cause the triple problem crowding the hotels, bringning more people to the parks on top of the offsite folks, along with making on-site dining a problem with potentially longer waits and more crowded restaurants.

Woohoo!!! Just booked!!! October 2nd-10th. Going to surprise my daughter with a mommy/daughter trip. Her first MNSSHP & we're doing the free dining (upgraded to the regular plan). All the ADR's are in place but I'm sure that'll change a billion times before it arrives :rotfl2: I am just over the top excited right now!

Hello everyone! I am brand spanking new on here and very excited about our 10/18-10/24 trip! We are booked at AOA and while I lived in Orlando for 10 years as a single gal, this will be the FIRST ever trip for my DH, DSD (13) and DS (3) and DD (2). I am having more fun planning this trip. Just took care of almost all of our ADRs. Still trying to figure out when to do the Princess breakfast.

My job is wine, so the F&W fest is right up my alley. (plus it's a tax right off. LOVE!) And my DH and I are huge Gin Blossom fans so the ETTB concert is very cool! Add onto that MNSSHP and I know it's going to be a magical vacay!

I need to back up a few days and get caught up before I start asking questions. Happy Tuesday! Julie

So excited for our trip but just went to book airfare and NOT happy with the prices :(. Jet Blue has really gone up a lot and has no non stop flights? :confused3 So looks like we will be going back to using Southwest which is also high now but at least has non stop flights. The other bummer is we will also have to drive to BWI instead of IAD if we don't want to pay a fortune. Which also means we have to pay for parking. (When we are able to fly out of IAD we park at DH's office and then get a ride to/from the airport.)
