October 2012 Code Watch!!!

So far, we have NO discount (no pin code or anything!) so I am hoping for something! At a minimum, I need to get the AAA rate applied so that we at least get some discount. Can Disney do that or do I need to call AAA?

Disney can do a AAA room-only discount but not a package.

We currently have a package booked. So I guess that means that I have to call AAA? Is there any benefit to having the package booked? Could I just call Disney and change it to room only and then have them apply them AAA rate? Then I could just buy the park tickets when we get there?

There are some additional benefits to booking with AAA - discounts and such. Unfortunately, I don't have all the details so I can't tell you exactly what they are. In the past, I recall a discount for Planet Hollywood and then for some of the different water related things at the resorts (i.e. sea racers, etc.). There is also a special viewing area for Wishes - which you need to book in advance. And luggage tags, AAA parking pass. Not sure what else. I think there was a discount at the World of Disney store too.

But, FYI, there are a limited number of rooms/packages available under the AAA rate and once those are sold out, you can't get the AAA discount. So it's not quite as simple as just "applying" it.

If you already have a package booked, I'm assuming you booked it through Disney directly. You can't just call and have the AAA discount applied even if there is one. I'm pretty sure you'd have to cancel the package you booked and then call AAA and book the package through them. I don't know about changing the existing to room only with the AAA rate.

Now that the fall free dining is basically out.... does anybody know/heard/something :scratchin about a room only discount??? TIA

This is what he said on the thread...
Hi a couple of weeks after that date will be released room only and within a month after that date ap rates ....

I am waiting for an AP rate...

I'd love to see a room only discount; something during those two black out weeks in October! :thumbsup2

I did an exchange from RCI into DVC for Saratoga Springs the last week of October. I have not purchased my tickets yet.

Would I qualify for FDD? If so, how would I go about reserving it: calling Saratoga or WDW-DINE?

We are booked right now checking in on Oct 18 and checking out on the 23rd. Since fd starts on the 19th, could I book just one night on Oct 18th and get our 6 day tickets that day and then start another reservation on Oct 19th for four nights/ five days and get fd for the rest of our stay? Or do the park tickets have to be included in the package booked for the 19th to get free dining?

I don't think room only discounts were announced until early October last year. But the FD offer is coming earlier than last year, so maybe the room only will as well.

I could be wrong (it's been known to happen, but don't tell my husband), but I thought DVC wasn't included in Free Dining.

Thank you replying to my question.

Yeah, after doing some more research, that looks to be true. However, I think I am going to call them after the official dates are released and try my luck.

You can never get free dining with a DVC stay. FD requires you to pay rack rate for your room, so DVC doesn't meet the FD requirements.

We went around October 14-23 in 2010 and got FD pin code around July that year- great surprise. We are booked to go October 12-20 this year, with or without code, but of course with code would be better! Dates are not flexible due to kids' school break. Looking at the dates that were posted, we would be out of luck because of the 2-week black out dates.

If the dates start October 19 would we be eligible for any FD during our stay?
Either way we are looking forward to our trip!!

Unfortunately, you would not get free dining at all. It is determined solely by your checkin date, but the upside is that you will likely have less crowds than the weeks before and after your trip. :)

i think you may be wrong with this. we booked 2010 and was able to get fd because it started two days before we left. also when i was booking last october they tried the same thing but it just did not work for us as our dates did not go into fd.
now maybe there is something i don't know but as i say, we did it. :confused3

Not sure how you were able to get it. Perhaps you had a PIN code on your account that they used with different dates available, but FD is ONLY based on your checkin date. As long as your checkin date is covered, you can get feee dining for up to 14 nights. Even if nights 2-14 are in the blackout period. Your checkin date MUST be covered or you cannot get free dining for any part of your stay.

i guess i will consider myself lucky. regardless of how i got it it sure saved a lot of money. i would not think twice about calling and asking again even if my check in date did not correspond with fd. no harm in asking and there could be a nice surprise waiting.....who knows? :flower3:

I would love to see a discount for oct, we have booked a week onside and then a 3 night cruise but we then need 2 nights onside somewhere, do you get any ap discounts on the rooms?

Thanks for the input.

I do find that odd considering how expensive DVC membership is. I had thought about buying into DVC, but honestly, if it keeps you from being eligible for certain perks, I don't think it's worth the price.

Oh, and btw, the RCI timeshare belongs to my mother, I refuse to buy into it. She had some weeks that she was about to loose if she didn't use them, so... Otherwise, I would be staying at Pop Century.
