October 2012 Code Watch!!!

Hi,
I read a different thread and saw that some people were getting postcards with pins for free dining for dates in the fall. We are interested in room discounts only. Has anyone gotten a postcard with a room discount for the fall?
Thanks,
Chris

back about a month or so ago i got a pin for 10% off room only. i had read on the DIS to enter and save vacation dates on the disney website and it would increase my chances of getting a PIN. so thats what i did - but it was before i booked my vacation.

I have a AAA room only discount booked right now through Disney. If I want to switch to a package with tickets and the dining plan, can Disney do that or do I have to actually go through a AAA travel agent? I'd rather just work with Disney directly. Anyone know?

I'm not sure. I will tell you this much...I've never used AAA, but the CM that I called/called me and fixed up my plans for this year set me up with the AAA discount. (I don't have AAA). She played around with codes and found the best deal for me which happened to be a AAA code. Not sure if you would have this much luck with every CM. I don't have my info infront of me, but I know if you scroll back a bit on here to a month or two ago, many of use called and spoke to the same lady. Had to first send an email and she's the one that called back and helped me/us out. Sadly I had to change my dates til next year, but was told the AAA rates for next year would be out soon. Hope this helps.

If you booked your room only discount through a AAA TA you will have to cancel it through the TA. It's up to you whether to go ahead and book your package through the TA or Disney directly. Personally, I always go through AAA to get the Wishes seating, special Princess storytime and Diamond parking.

For AAA Packages, you must book through a AAA TA. So I'm thinking that you'd have to go through a AAA TA to change your existing reservation from a room only to a package.

I work with a great AAA TA, who isn't even in the same state as me, because I knew more about Disney than the AAA TA at my local AAA office. So many years ago, someone here on the DIS referred me to this AAA TA who really knows her stuff and now I always book my Disney trips through her. I still do my own ADR's though.

Anytime we have ever used a AAA rate they have asked to see our AAA card at checkin. If you don't have it, they will charge you rack rate for your room.

I currently have 2 rooms with fd pin. One is nemo suite at aoa for my family, and my sister has a room in lm at aoa. If she decides not to go can i transfer the deal to another family? Tia

I have AAA so showing my card isn't a big deal. I guess I wouldn't ever use a AAA rate without actually being a member. But that's just me personally.

I didn't even know she'd put the AAA code on my account until I called to change my reservations. Wonder why she did that?? Now I'm worried about the one CM that I thought was so awesome really screwing people over... Urgh!!! I'm going to call her tomorrow and see why she did that. NOT HAPPY!!

I wouldn't either... I didnt' ask for it. And had no clue that's the code that she'd used.

Just called and asked if we had a pin or if there were discounts for our dates. No pin (waaaaahhh :sad1:) but when I gave our dates of 10/21-10/27, the CM said that there were no discounts but that they should be coming out "very soon."

So yay!

I am hoping for free dining during F&W. Does that happen? Because that would be awesome! We could use those 30 snack credits!

If it gave you a great discount...just sign up for AAA! It is worth every penny!

Unfortunately, you cannot just join AAA, though I have had membership for MANY years, you would have had to BOOK the reservation for any discount to apply. Sorry.

Yes..we go during the F&W when we go to Disney and we have always had FD. I don't know if you can use the snack credits for the F&W food. Not sure.

i don't understand what you mean. anyone can join AAA and if she already has an AAA rate booked already what would the problem be......
anyways, we are CAA, which is the same, and our agents book CAA rates, again, which is the same as AAA, even if your not a member. maybe if the TA from there books it directly they don't ask????? don't know anyone who has had an issue.

When Disney needs to fill rooms in slower seasons, they offer % off and Free Dining, but usually the PIN numbers are sent to Disney VISA card holders first, then previous or potential guest, and LASTLY to the General Public. You could expect to see offers perhaps as early as late July, most likely in August. Once you see the offer (usually email) be sure to call (if using a Travel Agent, they should help with this) as quickly as possible since the discounts/FD are limited to a certain number of rooms per resort.

Yes, the PIN codes often include time during the F&WF. And YES you most certainly CAN use the snack credits - it is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon roaming through World Showcase and eating 'dinner' for free! :p

You can just sign up for AAA. Or in Canada you can anyhow... it's called CAA (same as AAA) a la carte. You don't get any car benefits but you get the discounts. It's about $30 a year.

That is so odd. You didn't do anything wrong though, not your fault.

What? Yes you can just join AAA. It's open to the public.
