The dates on the pin code were Oct. 1-4 & Oct. 8-20, 2012 for deluxe resorts. The value & moderates dates went to Oct. 31st. Columbus day weekend was blocked, but somehow he got it for us. He said he wanted to give us some magic & kept trying different things til it went thru.

I visit the WDW website often and sign in. Check out prices and try different dates. I guess maybe that is why I got one.

That's how I get them. I price out trips on WDW website & save them. I price out nice long trips at Deluxe resorts making it very tempting for them to get me to book.

Sometimes I believe the tricks about getting on the website and saving trips, other times I think that the Magic of Disney knows what is going on inside your head.

A year ago, I began saving offers - deleting them - saving new offers etc... but never booked. We were going October 2011. During 2010 when we were not planning a trip, I received repeated pins but did not use them. I did not recieve a single pin during 2011. Our week was blacked out for any offers. We had about 6 families that traveled the week before us (different school system, different fall break) that received free dining. Everyone I knew received pins for our week......EXCEPT US !!

What did we get ?? .......full price dining, full price resort room and full price ticket. AND to top things off - we wound up having to get connecting rooms at ASMo because since I waited so late to book (waiting on the pin remember?? wanted to make Disney think we wouldn't go without a pin.....) - POR was completely booked due to a conference that was taking place and since we have 5 in the family - connecting rooms at a value was the cheapest. It would have been a little less to get a suite at ASMusic but we wanted the beds instead of the pull out couch.

We have been back 2 months and I have received 2 pins. UGGH !!!!!!

I just received a pin code by mail for select dates in October. I have been hoping for one, but the discount states it is the same at the Value, Moderate and Deluxe resorts. For some reason I was thinking in the past when I have received them it was usually higher at the Moderate and Deluxe? I signed up for a vacation planning DVD last week, and got this in the mail today
Does anyone know if I book with this code and free dining is offered to the public, do they let you use both? I am also wondering how it works if the dates for the code are through 10/31 and we are planning on staying until 11/4, do they just deduct it off of the dates that it is valid for or do they not let you use it if you are staying longer? TIA!!

In the past, the room only codes were highest at deluxe (between 30 - 40% off), next highest was moderates (around 25 - 30% off) and value stayed between 20 - 25%. It just depended on the promotion. I have seen it where the resorts were split within the category - for example Poly, GF and Contemporary might be at 35% and Wilderness Lodge and Epcot resorts at 40%.

You can only use one discount. If you book with the pin code and FD comes out - you can call and change. But - - that depends on availability at your resort. If your resort is booked, you might have to change resorts to get FD.

Unless they have changed things, the room discount codes are only good up to the date they have listed. If the code is through 10/31 and nothing else comes out through 11/4 then you would have to pay rack rate for 11/1 - 11/4. Free dining is different - if FD ended 10/31 and you stayed through 11/4 then the discount will work for the entire stay. Someone correct me if I am wrong..........

Yes, u will have to call and get it changed over. That's probably what I will do.

Got the 30% code and we're booked for a Fort Wilderness Cabin for mid-October. Saved over $900!

I ran a lot of numbers when thinking about the dining plan, and for us right now paying as we go is a better option. We'll be doing some sit-down dinners, but I often order just an appetizer. And much as we love desserts, 2 per day is a bit much for us!

I got the Game On! postcard with a pin. I called & booked immediately.
Beach Club Oct. 14 -19.

We were going regardless so I loved getting an discount. We are not flexible on dates (school) although we might have stayed at a value if we hadn't gotten the pin. I have stayed at several moderates & try to stay at a different hotel every time. However, we really wanted to walk to F&W in the evenings though.

I would love if they come out with a FD during our time. If so, I will adjust the ressie. Historically, it has skipped our week though.

After the new year, I will really get going on the planning. I have done some already, but I still have to figure out how often we'll visit each park. We want to do stuff this trip that we haven't done yet, like La Nouba, & I need to think out our ADRs. Only 4 months til I can book ADRs & the calendar comes out! I am excited about going in Oct this time & hope it's not too humid.

I'm trying to decide between these dates, does anyone have experience with either week?

October 4 - October 12 or October 26 - November 3.

We would probably stay at POP or POFQ and hope for free dining.

I have received 5 different pin codes in 2011 and didn't use them at all. Free dining works out better for our family.

In 2010 we were the last week of September through October 3rd and we were buried in love bugs!

We got a pin for 10% off. Not good enough Disney!!!! I need free dining to feed my massive family!!!! Free dining saves us so much money. This discount would save us very little. It was funny though b/c my hubby got the mail, and I was like: "Is that a Disney Pin? Give it to me!!!" He thought I meant a trading pin, and was like "No, there's no pin." I was going: "It is too a Disney Pin, come on! Give it to me!!" He was very confused!

At least you are getting a pin! We've signed up for everything we can think of and haven't gotten one yet.
