October 2012 Code Watch!!!

Me too Mary! FD would save a bundle for the 6 of us on eating so that is what I've been hoping for, but really, any discount is always appreciated. Sounds like FD might be quite a long shot based on the history of FD black-out dates in October and the current pin codes being sent out (of which a CM assured me there were none that were for the entire month of October for FD). I know FD has been offered every October over the last three years, but apparently mid-October is always blacked out (can't figure out why). We usually do an early Summer and a Winter trip so I've never really focused on October's offers before, but I do know the offers typically come out in late Summer around August. My discussion with the CMs made me hopeful that maybe it would be earlier this year, but it could have just been their good-hearted attempt at sprinkling some pixie dust on my vacation planning.

I agree that this would be absolutely amazing. We are hoping for similar dates. I plan on taking my daughter for a special 13th birthday trip but really need the pixie dust to make it happen.

I had called once for a AAA discount for Oct 4-8 at GF..CM told me it wasn't available. A few weeks later I called again about something else and mentioned it and the CM told me it was no problem to add it and he did. It was 10%. It makes you wonder how many times you have to call to get the story straight, right?

Each morning, I excitedly check the site to find disappoinment that offers only run though September.

I had called once for a AAA discount for Oct 4-8 at GF..CM told me it wasn't available. A few weeks later I called again about something else and mentioned it and the CM told me it was no problem to add it and he did. It was 10%. It makes you wonder how many times you have to call to get the story straight, right?

Yep, I used my AAA # for a small room only discount. We have a CBR preferred room booked for 4 nights in Oct for $742.04. The original price was $873.00. That's about 15% off. Better than nothing!

Not a Disney discount but SW is having a mega sale through October for those who haven't booked their flights or booked through SW and might be able to get a credit.

We got 4 roundtrips for under 950 from N.O. To Orlando nonstop!!! Thats huge! Love southwest!

Ya know....historically speaking, Disney hasn't released FD to the GP until July and/or August each year. In fact, for travel dates after 10/1, FD wasn't released until near the end of August.

I am sure this has been posted many times, but here is some historical data to look at for reference:

You are sooooo lucky! Been watching flights from Indy to Orlando. This morning AirTran was $2100 for 5 of us. Southwest was even more! Yikes!

I check the flights probably twice a day. Still do in case i can get lower fare since swa lets you keep the rest as a credit for one year. Plus its the only nonstop flight from where we live so i only had one site to watch! 2100 is nuts! Makes me miss the times when roundtrip flights were 100 per person!!

I do the same checks everyday! I just saw under the osborne family of lights on the wdw site there is a banner at the bottom saying "Light up the holidays early with special resort savings" with a picture of Mickey dressed as Santa. This gives me hope!

Hey! Just wanted to say to those that check flights everyday to be careful. Some airlines jack up prices for particular flights if they see alot of activity on their websites from people looking up prices. It's happened to me more than once with Southwest! I'll have searched a couple of times for the same timeframe and three days later- Bam!- now the prices are higher! I usually just sign up for the email fare alerts instead to notify me when prices change on certain flights.

Just don't anyone to pay too much to come to the happiest place on earth!

While it is nerve wracking to wait that long...I hope it does take a while to release the FD promotion. I need time to save up the cash to go!

We added 3 nights to our stay in October. Called, no PIN. Was able to snag a AAA discount on a GV room at POFQ. Rack is $621, got it for $527, so about a 15% discount. CM commented that they are really in a discount hole for October, but they are expecting better discounts to be available anyday.
Not sure how much better I'll be able to do, but I'm back in the hunt.

Except that the week we are going, is blacked out! We arrive on the 9th of October, and check out the 16th. Black out dates: 10/5-10/18.

I am so bummed!! I asked her what was going on that might be the reason for a black out that week, and she said nothing big, and she wasn't sure why that week in particular was unavailable. Other than the F&W and MNSSHP, nothing was on the schedule.

I can't tell you how bummed I am! I'd change our dates, but we are there for a wedding, and I already bought YES tickets.

Sorry you can't adjust your trip. The middle two weeks of Oct. are typically blacked out. We were there last year from Oct. 15-23 and paid rack rate for everything (hotel, tix and QSDP).

Southwest lists their best fares on Tuesday-Thursday. If you look at fares on Friday-Monday, you'll definitely see a difference. I don't think it has anything to do with how often people look at the site. If you want a deal on Southwest, check on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. They release their sale fares on Tuesdays and by the time Friday rolls around, the sale is over. You'll never find a better price on a Friday than you'd find on a Tuesday.

I talked to a CM yesterday...she said that as far as she can tell GP promotions won't be out until July or August...but did say to keep our eyes and ears pulled because they have gotten a lot of calls regarding for free dining for October...but she did not say that that would be the next promotion...at this point I will be happy to get anything!!! I also one time asked out the pin codes and was told that there were not any black out dates in regards to the FD pin codes, but we didn't have any!!! too bad we couldn't use someone's that wasn't going!! ) hahahaha Hoping to get something soon!)
