October 2012 Code Watch!!!

When you get the PIN via email, who is the sender? Does it say Disney Travel Company or something like that? I wonder if I got one and deleted it just assuming it was an email from DisneyShopping.com or the parks blog, etc. I don't usually keep my eyes out for PINS this time of year cuz the last time I called and asked about a PIN they told me they sent me one in the springtime. I am sure they keep track of our trip history and know very well that DH and I go every fall during F&W so that if they send us one for the springtime we are almost sure NOT to use it. I honestly think it is intentional.

All PIN emails come from Disney Destinations.:thumbsup2

I got a pin for free dining yesterday that would be good for our trip in October. I am still hoping for a room discount only though, as I think we would save more that way.

If it were me, I would apply that FD PIN to the reservation. If a room offer comes out that can save you more, you can always switch to that later. :goodvibes

Ok, I was going to go ahead and do the free dining, but I cannot find on my e-mail where the pin code is. There is a place that says "Be sure to have your PIN:" then it is blank. Should the code be there or is it elsewhere on the e-mail and I am just not seeing it? :confused3

A lot of people have reported that line to be blank, but they were still able to use it.:thumbsup2

Thanks! So, is there a way I can book online or do I have to call in? Also, my inlaws are going and staying at the same resort. I will be making both reservations and paying for the 2 rooms, would we be able to get free dining with both or just our room?

Someone just posted on another thread that the emails went out before the PIN #s were generated. They said a followup email should go out today with the # on it.

You should be able to book online once you have the PIN#, and typically you can book up to 3 rooms with one PIN. I don't know for sure if you can book multiple rooms online with the PIN, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I would just call now and see if they can do it that way. Good luck!:goodvibes

Thanks for all the info! I have one more question since I am a newbie to the dining plan. If we book at a moderate, do we get the regular dining plan with 1 QS, 1 TS, and one snack a day or is it a different plan when it is free dining?

just got that pin code everyone is talking about.... mine was blank too but they let me use it anyway :)

Moderates usually get the regular dining plan. 1 TS 1 CS and 1 snack. :goodvibes

I got the same pin, but when I called the CM said there was no way she could apply it without the actual number! My week wasn't included, but I was going to check on maybe moving by a week to use it. Oh well. Is it true there's another FD Pin floating around that would include all of October? Now that's the one I want:goodvibes

Yes there absolutely is another PIN code that includes all of Oct. Actually, it includes all dates from 08/01- 12/20 EXCEPT Nov 17-23! That is the offer I received via email. It does differ some as far as room categories from the "PIN-less" Free Dining offer alot of people are getting recently- I can't book AoA, but apparently AoA IS included in the "pinless" one...

I was really surprised with how many dates are included with this PIN! Works great for me as I want to arrive Nov 16th & thus will have FD for our entire Thanksgiving week vacation. Although, it would have been a bonus to be able to choose AoA... Oh well- next time!:)

What kind of discount was it ? This will be great if I could get it .

Just called two CMs and both confirmed that I only had a 20% off discount for any resort. I currently have a trip booked with free QS and am paying the difference for the dining plan. Still saving money, but I'd like more! :rotfl:

With that said, we are going 10/17-10/22 and from what I'm reading, the 17th and 18th of our trip would be excluded.

Hopefully something will be released to the public later in the summertime.

Some people are getting pins now for free dining that include the whole month of October :banana: Dates are from 08/01- 12/20 EXCEPT Nov 17-23

BEWARE of some of the cast members working the phones. Some of them HAVE NO IDEA what they are doing!

I called this morning and spoke to a very nice female CM. Our original package without dining was about $1800 at the AOA.

First, she told me she couldn't apply the pin if I couldn't tell her what it was (seems several of us received the email without the actual code). When I told her she was wrong and to check our file she found it.

Then, she told me that she could NOT apply the free dining pin to the current reservation and that she would create a new reservation with a different confirmation number and that I would have to speak to dining reservations separately since I already made dining reservations a few weeks ago.

Finally, she told me that the pin was for PLUS dining even though our resort is a value resort where I know quick dining is what you get with the free dining offer at all value resorts. We wanted the plus dining anyway, and I was prepared to pay about $400 for the 4 of us to upgrade.

She made the new reservation and told me our package price went up $1,000 to a total of $3,000 after she added the free plus dining!!! I told her she was wrong and she argued with me until I explained the logic to her. She then looked it over and said "oh yeah, the pin didn't work". She made a couple changes and got it down to about $2,800 (which was still more than it should be).

THEN YOU CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!! She accidentally disconnected the call and it went to the survey you get after every call. I could not believe it!!!

I called back, tried unsuccessfully to circumvent the computerized prompts then got a gentleman who was fantastic. I explained what just happened and he said "no no no...we can simply apply the pin to your current reservation and you won't have to do anything with your existing dining reservations". Within 5 minutes he had her mess all cleared up and our new total was $2,100 which was about $100 better than I thought it would be.

So my point in this long-winded post is that the "quality" of reservation cast members varies to the extreme. There seems to be a lack of training or something going on at Disney. But by reading these message boards, we can all be better equipped to deal with the less than savvy reservationists.

So glad you knew what you were doing and got your deal worked out right. I called tonight and had no pin but a nice CM was very encouraging and told me to look for a fall GP offer mid June. I had told her I wanted to go in October.

I did call this morning and had a FD pin. I just thought i'd try one more time considering the last CM I spoke with several days ago told me since I booked through AAA I wouldn't be receiving any pin offers at all and the CM before that I talked to last week had no idea about pins so yea..good thing I called. It's a toss up of what CM you just happen to get. Some are very friendly and knowledgable and others are rather rude and just not helpful at all. Well beggers cant be choosy I guess. Good luck to those waiting for FD offers :thumbsup2
