October 2011- who's in? Let's plan and countdown together!!

Count me in!:yay:

We'll be heading "home" to Bay Lake Tower from Oct. 22 - 29.:yay:

Now that the holidays are over, I will pour myself into non-stop Daily Disney Planning. Off to add my ticker......:yay:

Just booked this morning with the 35% pin! My first solo trip, to celebrate my 40th birthday to do whatever I want, whenever I want! I booked five nights, October 2-9 at POP.

Traveling Party
ME- 34-turning 35. My bday is Oct. 14, so I will celebrate while we are there :-) I LOVE all things Disney.
DH- 44. He love Disney also, but not as much as I do. He can't wait to stumble around the world this trip, since we are staying so close.
DD-11. She is also turning into a Disney know it all and loves to research with me.
DS- 7. He still loves Pooh and that's all he cares to see while we are at Disney.

Some other family members may tag along, but we don't know for sure yet.

Where are we staying?
Beach Club Villas- 2 room villa!!!!!
Oct 16-23rd We used my in-laws timeshare as a trade and only paid $129.00 for the weeK!!
We have never stayed onsite a whole week before so this will be very exciting. We stayed for 2 days on our last trip at the AKL concierge to do the Sunrise Safari, but that was our longest stay. We have been to Disney 3 other times, but they were all off of Disney property.

What will we do when we get there?
We will actually arrive on the 14th, but I plan to stay at Universal the first 2 days of our trip to do the new Harry Potter stuff. Then on the 16th we will check into our resort. I plan to do all the parks and possibly a water park if the weather is good enough during our visit. We will also do the Halloween party at least once. We LOVE the MNSSHP! We used to do the US halloween party, but on our last trip we were really disappointed and not sure it is worth it, but find that Disney's party is never disappointing. My kids also want to do the makeovers (pirate and princess) so that should be fun as well.

I can't wait :-)

We are now officially booked for WL Oct 14-22. I am so excited!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: My niece is even going with us. :cool1: Now to start saving the $$ to go. Hoping for a discount on the room or free dining to become available. Hoping more for free dining.

DonnaJean17, have you started a chart of who is going, the dates they will be there, and the resort they are staying in? Last year for the Feb 2010 link had one and it helped us when we went to look up others from the board. It was nice saying hi to those there the same time we were. Just a thought.

I'm crossing fingers for a discount but no pins so far. :sad2:

How many are planning for MNSSHP? Has anyone done it before? We've never been to it and being the Disney obsessed person I am I'd like to know more about it and start planning. :goodvibes

We have been once on Halloween Night. Absolutely LOVED it! It was crowded, but not too crowded. We did the BBB for DD and DS wore his Peter Pan costume (before the Pirates League). My kids wanted to ride the rides instead of trick or treat, but we did trick or treat walking from ride to ride. Seeing the costumes the guests were wearing was so much fun, too. I loved the fireworks show. At the end as we were walking back to the busses, CMs were handing out M&Ms candy to the exiting guests by the handfuls. Let me tell you, My DFIL was in HEAVEN!!! He is such a chocoholic, bless his heart, he kept sending us back to get more, then we would empty our bags into a bigger bag then go again for more. He kept saying it was a long ride back to Ohio and he needed the chocolate to keep him occupied. LOL.

We're driving from MD and my DH is a chocoholic so that's great to hear! :rotfl:
I'm glad to hear it's worth the money! I guess I'll have to add costumes to my packing list!

:thumbsup2 We will be there 10/28-11/04 at Kidani in a SV studio with my parents in their SV studio. This will be there first stay in a Deluxe at Disney and I am so happy to be taking them. I will have to see about getting them special shirts since we will go to MNSSHP on 10/31 for sure.

We will be there from Oct 20th-28th! Originally planned for May, but received a PIN code so we upgraded the trip a little :) We are doing a split stay POP (3 nights)/POLY (5 nights).

Very excited for MNSSHP and the food and wine festival! It will be our second trip.

4 of our last 5 trips have been in September...Crowds are nice and low, but MAN, is it HOT!

Does anyone have comparable experience between Sept and Oct?
Crowds?
Weather?

TIA!:flower3:

September was worse by FAR, IMO. We went in September 2002 and it was so hot you could see the humidity in the air. It was our first time ever visiting WDW and we were so miserable because of the heat we decided to leave the park and go back to the resort to swim. This was before FD but it was still crowded because of school vacation.

October is still pretty hot (it was in the 90s in 2009 and close to 90 every day of our 2010 trip). We started going in October in 2007 and I have noticed an increase in crowd level over the last few years but it's still nothing compared to the summer (we've also gone in July) and if you know what you're doing it's easy to navigate.

On that note, we are hoping for a trip this October but not sure of dates yet. I'm waiting to see if I get a PIN and I'll book around that. It's not confirmed yet that we'll be going but here's hoping!

We've only gone once in October (2004) and it was hot but not too miserable. The crowds weren't as low as when we have gone in January but still bearable and not nearly as hot and crowded as when we went in July. Now THAT is something I'll never do again!!! :scared:

I just booked my October 2-7th trip and I am beside myself:banana::banana:... Staying at Coronado Springs... Sigh! 253 days 6 hours and some odd minutes and counting.:cheer2:

I am going with Helopoh!!!! Only checking in a day earlier. But we are meeting there. Can't wait!!! Super excited. :cool1:

We are going October 2nd through the 8th. Will be staying at Fort Wilderness Campground and looking forward to the Halloween event.

Since I posted this, we have made our POR booking and we are adding two days on and now arriving earlier on 29 September so that we get free dining! :cool1:

We will be there the same time! 9/29-10/8! :cool1:

I wanted to stay in POFQ so badly, but I've been overruled by the rest of the family, so we will be staying in a pirate room at CBR.

The OP hasn't posted since 5/10--would it be rude for someone else to do it? I'm also on the September 2011 thread, and it really is nice to have everyone's info right on the first page.

I think a list would be great.:thumbsup2
If someone starts a new thread, just post a link for us!

Compared to some of the other Countdown Threads - October's moving pretty slow here people!
Let's get this party started!!!
:banana::banana::banana:

We will be returning the last week in October again this year. Probably staying at the CR or Poly (waiting on AP discounts). We went last year and loved F&W and the kids loved MNSSHP.

Now about the weather.... It was brutaly hot and humid that week. Orlando broke heat records 3 straight days and tied the record on another day that week in 2010. Hopefully they will have more 'normal temps' this year.
