October 2011 Code Watch

I am still here. I think I am coming to the realization that I will be paying rake rate. I planned and saved based on rake rate, and I already have it all saved, so really I don't need a discount. But if a discount comes out, I could use the savings for our next trip :thumbsup2 Hoping a GP discount comes out. I think it would save us more than free dining anyway.

I built a bunch of trips yesterday and searches on just rack rates on resorts there is not hardly anything out there at all :(

I have checked also and for the places I want to stay there is little or no availability for my dates so even if a good GP comes out it is highly unlikely we will be reaping any savings from it, not to mention DH really does not want to change resorts again anyway. Doing a split stay is out of the question DH does not want to do that either.

Oct 15-22 changing dates is not an option for me my flights booked in March were great deal its over 300+ more now plus a cancellation or changing fee of 75 a head which is 225 bux

Yeah, that's the convention week. We're arriving the 20th. Most of the convention is cleared out. I'm still seeing availability for BC and BWI but no idea if the discount will apply.

My backup plan is Dolphin. Rates are comparable to the discount rate. I'd rather be at a Disney resort but location is key for this F&W trip.

Still here- waiting for a good GP to come out. Booked right now at AKL with free dining but a RO would "hopefully" save us more. Rooms look pretty available for my dates- I check daily. Just incase I feel the need to change resorts....(knocks on wood)

we are booked with fd at yc right now (we booked in march and our travel agent got the fd applied last week). Hoping for a room only discount as it would save us more money. Last year , we got free dining and then right before our 45 days got the 40% off - had to switch resorts but it was just bc to bwi so no bg change. Fingers crossed that a discount comes out next week!

Thanks, SJS. At this point, I'm kinda hoping it does, because then I can tell hubby: "we're staying on-site". But....then I think about how much room the suite has and how much money I can save over POR. ARRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

There's just so much to stress about and so little time. :)
Have a great day!

I think we will be there the same week and I am sick every morning - we have tons of friends headed down week of Oct 8 and EVERYONE got free dining and the resort where they wanted to stay. FD would save us over $1500 since 2 of the 3 kids are over 10. We can't travel until Oct 14th so we are out of luck.

Our family of 5 has 2 rooms at ASMovies. The kids wanted the themed resort over POR from our last stay. DH had a fit when he realized how much more expensive it would be to swap back to the 2 rooms at ASMo and when we realized we would not qualify for FD he really threatened with "we just can't go". I tried to get us switched over to POR but for the first time ever - there is no availablity for our days !! The suite at ASMu is only $45 less and I figure we would be better off with the 4 beds and that would be more comfortable. While I am kicking myself for not doing POR to begin with - I am wondering if this is not better. IF a discount hits - since POR is booked for our dates, would there be any discounts available there? While I don't want to ever wish days of my life away - waiting for next week to hopefully bring some sort of discount !

We are heading down 10/26 -11/3 and ended up switching resorts this week....we saved over 1500.00 by switching from OKW to POFQ w/ free dining. I heard great things about POFQ, so I am happy with the decision!!

Hoping everyone gets the deal they want :):dance3:

That's my problem....I am literally sick about the dates. Don't get me wrong, I understand it from Disney's perspective, really I do. And not to make excuses, but I have OCD....little changes make me twitch and stressed. I was kinda counting on free dining (yes, I counted my chickens before they hatched) and that's what is leading to this. Plus, I think my hubby really enjoyed eating at all the restaurants last time and he got it in his head that we would be touring that way. UGH!!!! (where's the smilie pounding his head into a brick wall? I need that right now)

I can't believe POR is booked for your dates. I've been continually playing with it, and our dates seem to be ok. Maybe if a GP room only code comes out with a big percentage off deluxes, you can convince hubby to book that instead of the two rooms. Two of ours are over 10 as well. DD is 11 and she can eat us out of house and home. The boy just turned 10 and if he is off his meds, he eats like crazy. So, I get that, too. I'll keep hoping for a discount for you.

I think I actually talked hubby into doing a split stay this morning. There is still a lot to talk about, but if we can even get the 25% off for our first three nights, he's willing to do a split stay. I think what really concerns me about staying off-site is that we were really looking forward to eating at Tusker House and California Grill this time around (DD missed CG last time cause she had a stomach bug). So....I get queasy when I think of putting out approx. $125 out for Tusker House and at least $200-250 for California Grill. Free dining would be so worth it in this case!!! *taking a breath* OK....I guess that's all from me for now.

OH!!! Wait!!!! I forgot: I spoke to Cheryl at Guest Relations in DTD this morning. I told her I was thinking about a split stay and would like to know if I am able to pick-up my theme park tickets on my package early. She said absolutely and it is a perk for the guests staying on Disney property. She also said they have no intention of discontinuing this service. Just thought that was a good tidbit of information for everyone.

Have a great day!!!!:goodvibes

well....on Monday I got a postcard in the snail mail with a PIN for 25% off a value. Perfect cause that is what I was hoping for, right??

Turns out now we can't go this year. I just accepted a new job (last week) that I am very excited & grateful for, but it means giving up vacation time until I earn some. So now planning for maybe a early Dec 2012 or definitely Oct 2013 (hopefully all Fantasyland will be done!) trip.

So don't give up hope fellow Dis-er's...the PINs really are out there! :goodvibes

Do you have any idea if you could pick up your package tickets the day before your package actual starts?

Do you have any idea if you could pick up your package tickets the day before your package actual starts?

Yes...that's what I called Guest Relations about. You can pick them up before your package starts, but no more than 9 days out. Cheryl said that was the magic number because ten days prior to your reservation is when the system actually downloads it. So, if we do stay onsite (please, please, please!), I will pick our park tickets up on Thursday even though our package doesn't start until Sunday.

Also, Cheryl said that they will not be able to attach the park tickets to your KTTW card (room key) once you pick them up. The tickets are cardstock and have the magnetic strip on the back that the machines read. Kinda upset about that part, but I'm not going to complain.

I'm sorry you have to give up your vacation, but congrats on the new job!!!! You can plan with us....I think our next trip will be October 2013 as well (although hubby did mention something about next year....God, I love that man!).

best of luck in the new position!

There is still Family Suite availability at the All-Stars the FD blackout week we are going, so I am crossing my fingers that we might, might, might be able to us a GP code if if comes out next week.

Pixie dust for everyone to get what they want! :wizard:

Where did everybody go?

I'm still here too!:wave2: Still hoping for a room only discount as we could not take advantage of free dining. We arrive on 10/21 and could not move our dates to 10/23 when FD started. So, we are paying rack rate for our room at the GF, and i'm really hoping that we get a GP discount so the costs can come down. If we don't, we'll still be going, i planned this trip based on the rack rate and didn't count on a discount.:sad2:

I was disappointed we were blacked out for discounts - and then the AP rates came out. I'm going to go ahead and bite the bullet; I'm getting an AP. That way, tickets will already be bought for next time, and I should get a room discount next trip next year. If we decide to stay off-site to take advantage of a nice room rate, we'll get free parking and still get merch and food discounts.

What do you know - called and applied the AP discount, and two days later got a PIN in the mail for discounts on all the resorts. 30% off Value and Moderate, 35% off deluxe!! Still sticking with my AP discount, though, unless something better comes along - then all bets are off.

So, what do you think the chances are that when (I'm not saying "if" - that'll jinx us ;)) the GP discount comes out, it will cover 10/2? That's the only date not covered currently by the late summer/fall AP discounts. Our trip is scheduled 9/28-10/3, but we may have to switch resorts for the night of 10/2 if I can't get a discounted room! Seems so strange to me that one night is blacked out :confused3

I am waiting, obsessively checking my email for a room pin code. We wanted to stay a couple of days after our cruise. We might end up off site for the 1st time if there is no discount for us.

This is my dilemma as well. DH said unless we get a percentage off our room for the first three nights (free dining would kick in on our fourth day), we can't stay onsite and it's breaking my heart. I even had the sweetest CM this morning do everything she could to either (1) extend free dining to my check-in date or (2) find me some sort of discount. It was a no-go.

I am just hoping like heck something is released this next week. I really, really want to stay at POR.
