October 2011 Code Watch

Can I join? Except I need the 40% off for 10/2...We booked with the AP discount for 9/28-10/2 (not 40%, but at least is was something :thumbsup2), but I'd love a discount for that last night (we're staying until the 3rd). Otherwise, I think we'll need to switch resorts - rack rate at the Poly is just nuts :sad2:

Yup, that one rack-rate day at the Poly is killing me. We reserved on the Auto Train back in February, and I can't change those tickets (that would be even worse than one night at rack rate). My pin worked for the whole rest of the trip... :sad2:

Pleeeeease, Disney, give our little club some pixie dust LOL pixiedust:

I say we form a 40% off for Oct 22nd club

Can the club start for the 18th?? I shamelessly plugged myself to the CM last night, telling her that it's our first trip, we'd like to be onsite, it's too bad about FD, but without some kind of discount, we'll have to stay off. Hoping she can somehow mark us for a pin!

I will take FD if that is all they offer, but I am in the 40% club too. I have a PIN for 40% thru 10/29, but I need one to cover the 30th thru 3rd so we can get a 1 bedroom villa instead of getting FD and staying in a regular deluxe room. We are not huge fans of the DP anyways since it keeps changing every year.

Be happy for what you have. We have no FD, no discounts, & STILL no pin code with our address for any of our desired stay. Glad I can still cancel! Good for you getting a 40% for part of your stay. :wizard: Pixie dust all around!

We are going OCt 22-29 with res at CBR already. I am fine with the 2 resevations/depsoits since the 22nd was a no park day, but we planned to get up early on the 23 and hit the parks. If I have 2 res-do I have to go to the CUstoms house at CBR and actually check out and back in? I guess I will have to do this to get our park tickets(if the package requires us to buy them)

What is the chance at a resort as large as CBR they would make us change rooms?? That seems a little crazy to me. IF I have to pack up and move that will really hurt my plans for the day.

I'm headed Oct 15-22nd and it looks like if the rumors are true I'm blacked out on that offer. I hope maybe they have a room only discount. I've already got my flights and mnsshp tickets for the 18th, so I can't really change my dates. That is also the week my DD is out of school. I technically have the money for the trip , but any discounts will give me my spending money.

Julefre, I had the same question and was told they really make an effort to leave you in the same room. My thought is I won't fully unpack the first day and when I head down to check out/In if they tell me I need to change rooms, I'll just have DH toss stuff back in suitcases and bring them down to leave at check in before we head out for the day. But I'm thinking there is a good shot we can stay in the same room. Someone said when you make the reservations to make sure they are linked together and when you checkin for the first one to let them know you have another for the upcoming nights and request the same room. Also, from what I've read it's a 2 day park ticket requirement. but I guess we'll see for sure on Wed.

I don't use the dining plan, free or not, so (sorry, folks) I'm pretty happy that my dates are blacked out for this offer - makes dining more pleasurable (i.e., less crowded) for us OOP folks! I am still hoping for a room-only or AP discount though!

If you are talking about the October blackout, I had a PIN for last year's blackout dates and even though most people weren't on Free Dining, the restaurants were jam packed. The conferences during this timeframe keep the restaurants busy, especially the ones over at Epcot.

I was under the impression that Oct. was not a busy month for WDW. I keep hearing people talk about places being more/less crowded (Jammed, 55 min waits for ADR's, etc.). When you all say crowded, do you mean compared to when it's not FD or REALLY crowded (like during a peak season)? Touring plans still has the crowd levels all pretty low :confused3

Historically we go mid to late Sept. and, last year, I felt like the crowd level during the Oct. blackout was higher than going in Sept. even when Sept. has Free Dining. As far as ride wait times, I would say that it was only slightly higher but, as far as restaurants, I felt like they were much more busy.

Thanks Drelkor. I just assumed if park levels/rides were not that high that meant there were not that many people in the parks period. But I guess it makes sense that the restuarants themselves would be more crowded with FD since more people will be eating onsite or TS than if it wasn't offred and people were paying OOP.

THANKS!!

Congrats to the FD folks! This doesn't work for me since I'm an AP, so Im growing anxious for those AP discounts!! We want to stay at the Boardwalk, and i'm just afraid it will book up with FD!

I've already got ADR's for the nine meal credits we will have during our trip. I'll be staying at a VALUE probably at rack rate, complaining about it.

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I too am already booked from Oct 22-30 using a 20% off PIN for Pop Century. If the free quick service offer does apply on Oct 23, I understand I'll have to modify my reservation to Room Only for the 22nd. I guess I'm curious if I can still use the 20% off PIN and if so, would it only apply to one of the two reservations I would have to make now (I would use it for the 23rd-30th obviously). I have never used a PIN before (never stayed on property before) so I'm curious how it works. Any info is appreciated.

It depends we have a room only discount for the first night before FD starts on 8/27. Then we have the memories package with the free QSDP that starts on 8/28 threw 9/5. But our room only is the GP discount. Not sure what you pin code restrcitons are if there are any.

Come over to the dark side with me and stay off-site. LOL But I'm not kidding.....I made back up reservations on Friday for Buena Vista Suites and got a phenomenal rate ($76 per night is the average....and that's a SUITE). Anyway.....I'm keeping my reservation with POR until the last possible moment. We always rent a car, so Disney transportation is not a consideration for us and I am only losing three EMHs that we would be using during our trip....I just rescheduled my days.

Let me know....I still have the discount codes.

FigmentChick, you make a compelling argument. Suites at that price? Excellent deal. I saw that on Mousesavers and considered it. We don't really need to eat all our meals at WDW. We drive down so we have a car. The deal is looking more and more tempting.

Kelly, you were able to use the GP room discount for only one night? Cool, I don't know why I misunderstood and always thought you needed like two nights or more for the discount. Now I can look for a discount for our first night that won't be included in FD :goodvibes more savings!!!

I am sure with the conventions filling the resorts during the blackout period, the restaurants too are filled with convention guests. I just really hope the wait times are not terribly long,

We stayed off site in one of the DTD Hotels our first 2 visits to WDW back then we did have a car our second stay but the transportation provided by the Hotel was sufficient for our needs.
EMH or the lack there of would not bother me since for the most part when I schedule I plan on avoiding them.
You got a great deal and if it were not for the fact that I no longer drive and DH does not like to drive while on vacation I would consider staying at BVS in a heartbeat.

SJS, is there a place where you can look up convention dates?

I am not aware of any one place that lists the convention dates, I have seen them mentioned on the various resort threads for some of the "convention" resorts and I have done google searches for conventions in orlando/WDW.
