Yeah for free dining for many people ... I'm in the blackout period (the only week we could go) and still crossing my fingers for a room discount, better than the AAA 10 percent or the same with the Game On promo.

no pin on my name for a discount. Darn blackout period. But, the CM did say (and sounded very believable!) she had not heard anything about August 3rd, she had been told middle of the month. When I mentioned August 13th, she burst out with a surprised laugh. So, maybe there will be another offer later.

So, I'm taking it with a grain of salt, and hoping there is something else coming!

Sorry if this has already been answered, but do the same rules apply when upgrading from the DDP to the DxDP as when upgrading from quick service plan to DDP? If so, anyone know the price difference and whether or not you have to pay to upgrade the child's plan?

Those are our dates too. SO aggravated right now. I conned (I mean convinced) DH into going again because I was so sure about FD during those dates. Uh oh. I hope we don't have to cancel.

This is us EXACTLY!!! Only we WILL be canceling our 2 rooms (=2 reservations =2 deposits) if there is no free dining for Oct. 15-22. I am so bummed! Although maybe it will be different if/when it actually comes out??? I really do not remember there being such random blackout dates last year...Thanksgiving, yes, but just a random week in October???

This is like one week on/one week off! I find it hard to believe that the Disney CSR's are going to have to say "free dining available October 2-October 8, 2011; NOT available October 9-October 22, 2011; AVAILABLE October 23-November 5, 2011, NOT available...yadda yadda yadda...". Can you imagine how difficult THAT would be to communicate over the phone??? 300 times a day??? Sheesh!

I will remain hopeful for FD on my dates until I see it officially, AND have called 5 different CSR's AND have had it confirmed by this board!

Well since it's looking like this is really going to happen, now I want to know if it will be released early for Disney Visa cardholders as it has been in the past?

I am a Disney Visa card holder and used it for my current deposit...where should I be looking for this info?

The dates that are blacked out are within the normal blackout dates for fall. The two weeks in October have been blacked out for the last two years. Mostly because of the large conferences, Columbus Day and school fall breaks. Then the other black out dates for this rumored promotion are Jersey Week, Thanksgiving week, and Pop Warner week. So while it sucks for a lot of us, it is probably the correct dates. We'll be there Oct.14-23 so we'll be paying OOP for our QSDP. Oh well...we can still hope for a release of a room discount, I guess.

Just checked the Disney Visa site and the only thing they have up about Free Dining is still only through Sept 24

Yes. You just pay the difference between the level of dining you got free and the level you want. I've upgraded from regular dining to deluxe dining the last two years and just payed the difference.

My dates are Oct 19-25 so I am with you on hopeing for a good room discount or maybe a FD pin# that covers the blackout dates like Disney sent out last year.

I don't use the dining plan, free or not, so (sorry, folks) I'm pretty happy that my dates are blacked out for this offer - makes dining more pleasurable (i.e., less crowded) for us OOP folks! I am still hoping for a room-only or AP discount though!

I have never had free dining or a significantly large discount. I paid for the dining plan the year that is was introduced when it included appetizer and gratuity. Still, I am thrilled to be able to take advantage of such a perk during our week - even if it does not hold the same appeal that it once had. Would I have paid for a dining plan - no. But, I certainly appreciate this free option. To those whose weeks fall outside of the offer, my fingers are crossed for a 40% discount for you all.

Except I need the 40% off for 10/2...We booked with the AP discount for 9/28-10/2 (not 40%, but at least is was something ), but I'd love a discount for that last night (we're staying until the 3rd). Otherwise, I think we'll need to switch resorts - rack rate at the Poly is just nuts

It is amazing what adding just a day or two at rack rate will do to your trip budget. At one point I was booked with the GP discount that was out at the time from 9/25 to 10/3 with 10/2 added on at rack rate for almost double what my other nights were costing me

Then DH got a 20% pin so I changed to later in October but now 4 of our days fall in the black out time for the FD, oh well I can live with it like you said something off is better than nothing
