October 2011 Code Watch

I really hope the dates are wrong!!

It surprises me that the 15-22nd week is blacked out, when you look at touring plans the park crowds are 1's and 2's for the whole week. :confused3

I know some of you were asking why certain dates were blacked out....

It looks like mid October is normally a blackout period, so that seems logical. Also, not sure if anyone reading here is going in November, but I feel certain that 11-6 through 11-12 is blacked out because of Jersey Week. That usually falls during the first week of November, but this year the teacher's conferences were moved to the second week of the month. All the other weeks that are blacked out look like holiday weeks.

Now my question is if this info is accurate. I'd love to know where the OP for this offer got his info. Are you a TA or a CM? Just curious because some of us have a lot of money riding on this info being correct (if we choose to make changes based on what you've said that is).

I'm also wondering if the old rule about booking discounts still applies that allows your discount to run the entire length of your trip even if it extends beyond the offer period. For example, if we check in on Oct. 28th and leave on November 7th, are we covered under the FD promo for those last two days after the offer ends on Nov. 5th? Hope that made sense.

Also, what time can you start calling on Aug. 3rd to add the promo? Can you add it online or do you have to call?

I was wondering the same thing.....our vacation starts 11/2, so does than mean the discount is good for our 'entire' stay????

There's a convention that week at the Boardwalk. So parks are light but resorts are booked up.

Ok, if this info is true and the dates run until Oct. 8th and then are blacked out until whenever it was in Oct. What if you check in on the 8th? Could you get free dining for the entire stay since you checked in on the 8th even if that is the cut off?

The Gartner Symposium one of the largest conventions runs from Oct 16 thru Oct 20 resulting in little availability in many of the resorts especially the Epcot Resorts.

FD is offered to fill rooms, if those rooms are already full no need to offer FD for those weeks.

I'm the 22nd - 29th so I can do a room only for 10/22 and then the package for 10/23 - 10/29 and just HOPE I don't have to switch rooms. I have a package curently booked, 10/22 - 29, room, ddp and tickets AND insurance, so now if I cancel to make this new ressie do I lose my insurance fee and have to pay it again? Or can I apply it to the new reservation?

Yes you will need two reservations and yes you will need to check in then out then in again. There is always the possibility that you may have to change rooms, some people have reported they did not have to but others have. Luck of the draw I guess.

How are the tickets worked out then? Thanks in advance!

This just doesn't make alot of sense to me lol. Why can't I just keep my current reservation for arriving on the 21st and not have the FD start untill the 23rd on the same reservation. Not only does this sound like a pain for me but also sounds like a pain for Disney. Not that I'm complaining becuase I would love FD for the remaining 8 days I have, but... haha.

I called and answered my own question, so in case anyone is wondering as long as you don't cancel altogether they can reapply your insurance :).

We are going the same dates.....IN THE PAST YES you could still get the DDP as long as you checked in on the last date it was offered.

I even tried looking (months ago) at checking in on Sept 24 staying for 7 days and it did work at Disney online.

So I can only HOPE and assume it will stay the same (IF the rumor is true)

Looking more like the rumor is true, people said TA's are posting it on their sites and that the DIS posted it officially as well.

I'm not crazy about the checking out and back in deal but... I hadn't planned on the 22nd being a park day so no biggy there. Stinks to get one less day of the DDP plan but now I can upgrade to the DXDP and I'll have more credits and still probably save around $100 OR just leave the DDP and save it all and pay OOP and rework my ADR's hmmmm, what to do??:confused3 Save more and do less or save just a little and do more:idea:

Well since it's looking like this is really going to happen, now I want to know if it will be released early for Disney Visa cardholders as it has been in the past?

We are going the 16th through 19th or 20th... Seems to have missed the dates for us. My and I have AP's and EXWK2* doesn't require a ticket. So a room only discount for pass holders would be great.

*EXWK2 = Ex-wife's Kid

Just wanted to clarify this because there seems to be some confusion.

The only date that matters for a Free Dining offer is the day you check-in. For instance, the current "Memories" offer ends Sept. 24. As long as you check in by Sept. 24th, your entire stay gets free dining even though the remainder of your trip is not during the offer dates. Basically when you check in, all of your meals and snacks are credited at once so only the check-in day has to qualify. So if your dates were 8/24-8/30, you would have Free Dining for the entire trip. For my trip this year, I anticipated the blackout days in Oct. based on last year and pre-booked with my best guess. I'm booked Oct. 2nd-Oct.16th at CBR which means I will get Free Dining for the entire trip (even the blackout days) as long as there is availability in my resort and category and this offer is legitimate. Last year I used a PIN that let us have Free Dining even though we checked-in during the blackout.

For offers like the $69 Value Resort Sun-Thurs offer, only the days of your trip that are during the offer date are covered.

If you can flex your dates some and stay longer, Free Dining always provides you the most flexibility as long as you can check-in on an offer date.

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I too am already booked from Oct 22-30 using a 20% off PIN for Pop Century. If the free quick service offer does apply on Oct 23, I understand I'll have to modify my reservation to Room Only for the 22nd. I guess I'm curious if I can still use the 20% off PIN and if so, would it only apply to one of the two reservations I would have to make now (I would use it for the 23rd-30th obviously). I have never used a PIN before (never stayed on property before) so I'm curious how it works. Any info is appreciated.

In your case you would have to choose one or the other since most pins have to be booked for more than 1 night.

You can keep the reservation you now have @ POP with 20% off room rate

or

book 10/22 rack rate and get the FD offer from 10/23 to 10/30

I don't know that but i hope yes, but in a couple more of days it will be realeased for the general public and you can book anyway :goodvibes

Sorry if this has already been answered, but do the same rules apply when upgrading from the DDP to the DxDP as when upgrading from quick service plan to DDP? If so, anyone know the price difference and whether or not you have to pay to upgrade the child's plan?

TIA everyone :)
