Just wanted to share my sadness I guess with those who "get it". Of course they released the free dining dates for October and the blackout days are when my family and I are going. Just figures I guess. Blackout days are so frustrating. We are paying full retail price for everything. Even being a lowlevel castmember, they don't seem to want to help me out any. If I take a room discount I am not allowed to purchase dining so it really doesn't save me anything.... :sad1: maybe someday I will get a pin.

again dear Dis'ers I just wanted to share....

i feel your pain. We're going that same week and since we're wrapping our trip around a medical convention, we can't change dates. *sigh*

you mention you are a cast member, dont say lowly, you guys are the creaters of everything Disney, screw the exec's who pat themselves on the back, its you guys that make it happen.
Anyways, being a cast member dont you get like 50-60 % off a room anytime of the year without having to wait for codes to come out...

I'm right there with you. We check in the day blackout dates begin. :(

Can't change our dates since flights are already booked & logistically it's just too difficult to rearrange 3 family's flights and schedules to go a day earlier.

I am super bummed.

I work for a company that Disney owns, so I can't say I make any magic LOL, but we are supposed to get 40-60% off room only, but when I talked with an agent on the phone, she said I couldn't get dining, to me meaning I couldn't even BUY dining, which didn't seem fair to me but I guess rules are rules. My family really likes the dining because we like to have as much paid in advance as we can so ditching that isn't feasible to us really. Changing dates won't work either because we have already purchased airline tickets and scheduled the days off with our jobs.

Maybe I should just give the castmember line a call again and see if there are any options, :confused3 I just don't want to look stupid looking for discounts that aren't there for me.... **sigh**... love that you guys all understand.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a better deal. I would call back and check at least. Good luck!

:sad2::sad2:I'm stuck in the blackout dates, should have waited two more weeks to book and purchase my MNSSHP tickets:( Now I am stuck!

eeyoregirl I would call them back again. Better to eat a little humble pie than miss out on a deal or overpay when you don't have to!

I am another one stuck in the black out. We can't change our dates because of school, so we will go. I would love a discount of any kind. Fingers crossed that something comes out.

* kicking her chair * me too Oct 15-22 :( I have been so moody since Tuesday morning its not even funny !

well I called Disney castmember line and spoke with agent. Turns out there is abosolutely nothing anyone can do for me castmember or not. Blackout dates and reservations already made = out of luck. Well... now that I found that out I will just suck it up and get excited just to be there in October. Will know next time how to plan around and get my discounts in order. Hopefully that will mean restaurants aren't too crowded since food isn't "free". LOL, desperately trying to find my silver lining.

So you are going at same time!! Hopefully weather and crowds will be great. We are staying at ASMovies. Looking forward to it. It is a value, but it looks like an adorable decor. Are you at Corando? I hear there is big conference going on those dates. Hopefully they will stay in their rooms and not in the parks LOL.

Dining plan as a cast member is only available with a cast member special offer. And it's at a very discounted rate too. Those offers typically come out about a month to 2 months before the month of travel. There are no Q1 cast member discounts out yet. The current one ends the end of September.
