Hi All Disneygoers

I am in the process of booking an October 2009 trip but am wondering if there are any major events going on in the month of October that I should know about and try to avoid. I noticed the "Race for Taste" is happening this year on October 12th, is that a yearly event? And if you could pick a week in October to go with young children when would you go? I, also, would love to hear if this is a great time to go.

Thank you for any responses,

Disneydanserr

October is a wonderful time to go. There are always going to be conferences/conventions going on, but I can't think of anything major that would be a problem for you.

And best of all The Food and Wine Festival will be going on, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Two Disney events that you don't want to avoid!

Have fun!

:) Have been several times the first and second weeks, that is a great time.

We have been going for the past 13 years in October(whenever Halloween falls, we leave the Friday before for 10 days). GREAT time of year to go. Weather is great - no humidity, no afternoon thunderstorms. 80-85 in the day, 70s or so at night. Love MNSSHP and the Food & Wine (both not to be missed). If you are there on Halloween, there is trick n treating at the Marketplace and Boardwalk has a party with a DJ, characters, treats, etc. Halloween morning all the resorts have a "contest" with carved and decorated pumpkins done by the staff and guests all vote on them. We love going from resort to resort just to see what they have done. (AKL has always had some really amazing ones). Magic Kingdom is decorated so great. Aside from WDW, Sea World also has a Halloween Spooktacular and Universal has Halloween Horror Nigts (NOT recommeded for kids!). You can't go wrong in October!

October is the best month to visit (in my opinion!) It is not as hot, the crowds are less. We are going the second week in October this year! :yay:

I remember how nice it was in late September early October 1990 (believe it or not) and it was beautiful... hardly any rain and nice and cool but still with warmth in the air. I wish I could during October, but I've been a student and DSO will be for awhile longer, so it's not very practical right now. I have heard that it is the absolute best time to go though and I wish I could attend MNSSHP one of these days. We'll be there just a few months after you next year though... we have a trip planned for December 09.

We booked Bounce Back for 9/30-10/6 with free dining for next year! :woohoo:
Looking forward to MNSSHP! :hyper:

Heres hoping for cool weather, no hurricane issues & low crowds.
