October 2009 Code Watch!!

I'm not familiar with codes ect. I've seen someone post that you can book a package and apply a discount later once they been released. Would this be applicable only if your package has not yet been paid in full? Our trip isn't till October, was going to pay it off this month, but if waiting for a code would save me some money, should I hold off paying it off (the balance isn't due till August).

You can go ahead and pay it off. If a code comes out they can apply it to you reservation and mail you a check or what ever. ;)

Count me in for also waiting for an October deal. Wife and I decided to go again and I booked the $149.00 deal at the Dolphin as a placeholder until something awesome comes out!

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but how crowded is Columbus Day week normally? Are a lot of you guys planning on going then? DD will have "Fall Break" around that time, so we're thinking about a trip then.

It is also the F&WF period and usually very busy.:goodvibes

I'm thinking of trying to talk dh into going around Columbus Day. The kids should have 3 days off for Fall Break that week, & I could pull them out 2 extra days with no problems, I think.

About free dining... was that offered all the way into OCT last year? I'm thinking they only offered it through the beginning of OCT? It would be GREAT if we could get free dining. I'm thinking they are more likely to just expand the "buy 4/get 3 free" promotion.

We usually stay at All Star Movies resort, but I'm thinking of "moving up" so we could have a bit more space, and a queen size bed. This last visit, we stayed in ASMovies-Dalmations Building and we found it to really be showing its age. I noticed mold on the ceiling and wall paper in the bathroom, and the walls were really dirty looking.

I have never seen them offer free dining during that time either, but it sure would be nice. :rotfl:

We are also going Columbus Day week. It's also Alabama's Fall break week, so it will be busy. Hopefully it wont be to bad. ;)

I'm waiting for a code too. I will be there Oct 24th - Nov 1st. I would rather the 4/3 deal than free food, so I could upgrade to AKL Club Level:worship:. Right now I am booked in the POR and would love to surprise my DH with a deluxe resort.

All our fall break weeks are Columbus day weeks -

Fall break 2006 - not crowded at all, very little wait on rides. Fall break 2007 was much more crowded, the wait times had gone up even though the crowd calendars from Touring Plans were still pretty much the same as the previous year. We did not go fall break of 2008 but the reports were the crowds were pretty bad. I had a teacher friend come back fuming because she said she felt like she had fought the summer crowds but still the crowd calendar from TP still showed the lower levels. She even talked to a CM at guest relations in Magic Kingdom to complain about the crowd management and buses. They told her (if they knew what they were talking about) they were not prepared for the elevated levels they experienced.

Also - in 08, the discount code for free dining had blackout days that included Columbus Day week. I remember the promo having blackout dates so I went and looked it up on Mousesavers in their code history section. They do not show any blackout dates, just that the code was available through Dec but everyone I know that went that week was unable to get any type of discount. There were a very small amount of discounts available in 07 but in 06 they were pretty much easy to get.

I hope that Columbus Day week is not going to turn into the week before/week after Easter where those dates are always blacked out from any type of discount due to the school breaks. Oh well - we're going anyway but a discount will help !

Waiting and hoping for a good code as well. We are staying at AS-Movies, from Oct 2-10. We have the dining package, so I wouldn't mind getting that for free. But I think before it has always ended like the first or second day of October.

Usually the dates listed on specials are "check in dates", so in theory, you could check in Oct 1 and get FD your whole stay!
I hope that's the case this time... we are looking to go the first week in Oct, too!

would like to know too - we just let our ap's lapse but plan on going for DD's bday - halloween. need a code or fl rate.

Forgive me if it has already been asked, but I was just wondering if anyone can use the code or only the people who have received it can use the code ? From what I take people who have stayed onsite in the past are sent discounts for future visits as well:confused3 ?

We are looking to stay either early September / Early October :)

Depends on what kind of "code" you're talking about. PIN codes are sent to certain people and can only be used by that person. Other codes (like free dining) can be used by anyone, unless the special has certain requirements, like Disney Visa cardholders or Florida residents. Bounceback deals are offered to onsite guests who book a vacation for the next year.

So there are lots of different types of codes and discounts. For Sept, my guess is they are going to offer free dining. If they do release a FD code, it will most like be for Disney Visa cardholders first, then to the general public.

Thanks for your help :) When do they normally release that information ? From what I can tell on here they seem to keep ppl waiting ;)

Is the free dining normally for the full month of september ?

People seem to be guessing around the first week in April. In the past, Free Dining has generally been for late Aug through late Sept. I have a feeling it will be extended into early Oct this year, but that's just a guess.

If you book with Disney and they offer free dining later will they automatically add it on to your package or do you have to cancel your reservation & rebook to get the free dining ?

It's definitely not automatic. You have to call. If the dates/resort/room type that you already have booked are available, then they can just switch you over to the free dining deal. Otherwise, you may have to change your existing reservation to apply free dining. It's not as simple as just "adding" free dining to an existing package.

Oh, I hope and pray that it will be extended thru the end of October.(Or at least thru MID October ;) )That would be such a blessing! We've never had free dining before.....or any kind of deal.
