October 2009 ADR Wanted/Trade/Exchange/Canceled

Actually, canceling double booked ADRs has been Disney's long standing policy, but they usually cancel BOTH. And, no, they don't notify you generally.

It just happened a lot less because you couldn't book your own ADRs online. Now that it's happening a ton, and Disney knows they will lose revenue since lots of spots will be no-shows and others will give up trying to get in, I'm not at all surprised to hear they are going through and canceling double booked ADRs. I think they are doing guests a favor by only canceling one of them instead of both of them.

From what I've heard on the Dis and other fan sites, it's suddenly started happening this week. I'm guessing this is the time frame that online ADRs first started. While not being able to retrieve ADRs could be a technical glitch, I wouldn't be surprised if some people are having ADRs cancelled if double-booked. After all, you do agree to it on the terms of service to not hold more than one ADR for the same meal period.

1) Please link to it on TOS, because I don't see it on there. I just went in and took the system to the point of about to make the ressie and then stopped (Boy the Wave doesn't seem to be too popular). NOWHERE is there anything about cancelling double ADRs. I'm also not 100% sure TOS would apply since you do NOT have to be logged into to make a Ressie. I didn't log in and was able to do it for anything with 90 days (stopping before so I didn't make the ressie). I just don't see it and question rather this is an actual policy instead of a rumored one. I have friends who work at some of the restaurants and all of them said they think this is a rumor because if Disney did cancel it, they'd have a nightmare on their hands dealing with ticked off guests

2) It is incredibly simple to block the ability to double book online, so why allow the ability IF you are going to delete ADRs. Logic loses out...

3) THis is not mentioned by the dining agents (just called to do an ADR and listened specifically for it) again leading to questions on this being a real policy.

I'll chalk it up to glitches. The ADR online system is the worse piece of garbage I have ever used so it wouldn't suprise me in the least.

Again, Disney would have a PR disaster on their hands by doing this and a lot of ticked off guests and frazzled workers. People complain when it rains... can you imagine the fits that will be thrown because Disney "lost" their ressies. The sheer volume that some claim further points to a glitch or error.

The facts just don't support the claim... Disney would make that policy known when booking on the phone or online... It would be blatantly posted as most of their other policies regarding cancellations are... such as CC holds having to cancel before 24-48 hours. Again, logically this doesn't make any sense... Its probably a glitch and the CMs assumed it was something else.

We'll see though... I'll make two ADRs at the same time and we will see if they get cancelled.

Did you call and ask? They are ALREADY doing this read around this board - sorry.

Can you link to some making this claim? I'm not seeing any complete threads on this, nor am I finding anything in search... admittedly, the Disboard search function is not the greatest, but still. I would like to see some of the posts.

Called and did an experiment. Booked two ADRs for the SAME TIME and SAME DAY with the SAME agent. She never said anything about not being able to or it would be cancelled. I asked if it was policy, she said no. I asked how long she had worked there. She said 10 years.

I call rumor/glitch or something else, but evidence points to this "policy" being imagined by some CMs. Just doing some google research, this same thing has been claimed as early as 6-29-09, which makes me further question the validity. Again, if there were actually true, it would be FRONT AND CENTER on the online system when making ressies, just like the CC hold information is. And the Agents would tell CMs.

Well your CM may have let you do it but they should not have and I second the previous posters statements there have been many threads on here of people who had both ressies cancelled. I will not link to it, you may search yourself, but I second the previous statement....I have seen quite a few threads

Why won't you link to Disboard threads? That makes little sense to not link to an internal thing.

There is NOTHING that I can find on Disney Dinings website that says this policy exists. Obviously cast members aren't trustworthy to have the right info because we are getting different responses. I called back again and asked about it and the CM I got this time said NO this wasn't a policy and NO they aren't doing it. So using a bit of ocham's razor, what's more likely... Disney ticking off a bunch of guests by cancelling things without telling the people while not putting any measures into place to prevent multiple bookings - something EASY to do... or there was a glitch in a known GLITCHY system that caused the problems? I will also concede that this could be the work of some Rogue castmembers but there is no evidence that this is DIsney policy. In fact, the overwhelming evidence is that is ISN'T policy to cancel double books... there are just too many variables in play to be assured that it was a double booking and not a split party with other people added or something else. If Rogue CMs are doing that, then I think they should be fired for it. They are not the law, DIsney has many ways to prevent doublebookings and they are terrible castmembers if they cancel some guests ADR because they THINK its double booked. Just my opinion, but someone doing something like that to a guest when it wasn't official posted policy would be fired quicker than you can blink an eye.

And I did search... I found one thing on it, which pretty much said its not policy but rogue CMs. Spent a good 20 minutes browsing as well as using the search function. So I could chalk it up to Rogue CMs or to Glitches (as there were reports of people cancelling online and the ADRs not being cancelled).

So please link to some of these "many threads" on Disboards... Because they sure aren't a front and center topic going through the pages.

I didn't link to it beacause I don't have time to go find it for you, I am not the one who wants to see it.....I already have. As for you not finding it I don't know what to say....many people have told you that it has been a topic on here. You seem to be very heated on this all we said was that people have reported having thei reservations that are double booked cancelled because they are double booked......and they have reported this.....as for you...you don't know why they were cancelled so why not just calm down?

I think you should take this "conversation" to PM's before this thread gets locked.

Fair enough I will drop it. I just don't like erroneous info given. All evidence including the now three times i called dining says this not official policy. Stating that it is is a huge disservice to fellow disers IMHO. Ok I'm done.

Still have a 10-1 citricos at 7:30 avaible 2A 1C

Bumping... didn't want it to get lost under all the "discussing" going on here!

I am still looking for a Chef Mickey's for any morning 10/03 through 10/10 for 2A & 2C.

If anyone has a CM ADR during those dates that they are not going to use I would LOVE to have it. I would even take a lunch or dinner if it is a day that we are planning to be in MK.

Thanks!

Bumping...thanks!

I have a Le Cellier reservation for 2 Adults 2 Children on October 6 at 12:40 and would love to trade for a Le Cellier reservation for 6 any time from October 3rd through the 7th. Sorry, guys, but I can't bring myself to look through 44 pages of posts (plus the start of a migraine limits my ability to think much!). If anyone has a Crystal Palace for b'fast on 10/14/09 for a party of 4...please PM me. Maybe we can work out a trade. TIA:thumbsup2

There is just the two of us, we're looking between 5-8:30PM. Feel silly even asking this but the trip was just scheduled last week and I had no idea it would be this busy! I have nothing to offer but a ton of gratitude!

Thank you!
K
