We'll be driving down to Orlando from Toronto in 14 or 15 days! :drive:
We're hoping to visit Magic Kingdom before the cruise.

A couple of questions. Where is everyone staying the night before?

I've been looking at Best Western in Cocoa Beach as they offer a 40% off parking voucher at Port Canaveral. We prefer to park at the port.

And weather! Maybe its a 'bit' early, but has anyone started looking ahead to see what weather we are looking at for each day?

We did a Carnival Cruise in Jan. 2011 and our weather was terrible for several days! We actually missed 2 ports because of it! Therefore I'm a bit nervous this time around.

Fingers crossed that October brings us awesome weather!

Wow! You guys have a long drive. Do you break it up or just get in the car and roll? We stop...usually in SC.

DH will start checking the weather about 10 days from our departure. Love when we reach that point. Means we are very close to doing the single :woohoo: digit dance.

We're doing the All-Star resort by Disney :thumbsup2 I'd stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port last time and it was actually pretty nice!

As for the weather, when it came to cruise time in 2008 (Oct. 26th-30th), it actually stopped raining the day of the cruise, and had some good warmth/sunshine during :) if I do recall correctly, we did have to swap our at sea day with our Castaway Cay day due to ill weather, but it all worked out in the end.

I can't post links since I'm still in newbie mode, but if you go to the Wunderground site and type in the city + state, it'll give you a ten day view; scroll down to "Travel and Activities" and you'll see a travel planning option for dates to view the history and statistics :goodvibes

Thanks! :) We are actually heading in on the 18th on a red-eye flight, then spending the entire Friday on one of the Disney resorts. :goodvibes I feel like coming in the entire day before departure will give us more time to wind down from the big circus we call traveling. ::yes::

The last Disney cruise I took, we flew in the night before- which given, is still less stressful than the day of, but I was totally beat from the flight alone. I crawled straight into bed once we got there and had to drag myself to the Port the next day. Didn't even get to enjoy a good meal or a pool beforehand!:sad1:

Aww, I didn't know about that! :sad1: DH and I are huge Disney nuts, both of our families raised us as such :earboy2: yet we have never actually been to WDW! :faint: This is the closest either of us have ever been to WDW without having actually gone into it!

Might be kind of a bummer, but I wanted to make sure we were resting up a bit first so we could enjoy a lot of the shore excursions (We both are pretty active and love to hike). We'll be sure and relax a bunch, though, too! :beach: besides, we live, breathe and sleep Disneyland so, it's not all bad ;)

Funny! We are also flying a red eye on the 18th. I wanted to check out the new Art of Animation resort, so that's where we'll plant ourselves for the day. I totally hear you about WDW. We took the whole Family in 2009 ( we have 5 kids!) along with our DGD who was 2 at the time. 7 days didn't even scratch the surface, and I've been dying to go back. When we were in PC for our 2010 Magic cruise, we didn't add days on and I regret it! Wanted to add on a whole week this time, but it just didn't work out. We're staying until Tuesday afterwards and taking our 2 boys to MNSSHP so i guess i cant complain too much!Planning a 2013 10 night with our DVC. Hoping we can add on more points on board too.
Disneyland is our Home Away From Home. We own at the Grand Californian and grab a night there whenever we can... I just love that place! See you soon...:beach:

Can anyone tell me what happens if we dont recieve our cruise documents? We are leaving a week before the cruise and havent recieved our docs yet? Is anyone else still waiting? Do we have to have them?

Thanks

This will be our first time driving to Florida. We have driven to Nova Scotia several times which is 24 hours driving time. Orlando will be approx. 20 hours Driving time. We have driven from Nova Scotia to Toronto without stopping over night. For this trip however we are planning on stopping along the way for two nights before we reach Orlando.

We also do not have our documents yet. Our travel agent assured me yesterday that they will be in by the end of this week.

Hi, guys! Long time lurker of this thread, first time poster

Welcome. :cheer2: I was a lurker too. Now I'm a regular loon poster.:lmao:

Our first cruise was a honeymoon cruise a decade or two ago.:confused3 Wife wasn't thrilled. We kept passing the great beaches. Flash forward to this sailing with 2 kids, if the kids "take" to the clubs, and that allows her to read "a" book, she will be thrilled.;)

It's going to be awesome.:cool1: Welcome aboard :thumbsup2

If you have any questions feel free to ask. That's what we are here for.:goodvibes

Nothing to worry about unless you have DCL transfers thru an airline and are checking luggage thru to ship. That's all the pack contains that is important, luggage tags. But it's only important for those that need it. And then it's only important if it's relevant. My packs irrelevant. We are driving to port. Hauling our own bags. HTH

Thanks, that is what I was hoping.

we will be traveling without 'em for this particular trip.
~We are doing the same! This is a lovers cruise! :love2:

Our stateroom hasn't been determined yet, but it will be a guaranteed verandah
~That's kind of exciting, not knowing for sure. I hope it's a lucky spot!

I had the pleasure of meeting a handful of great people my last cruise, and I'm hoping that this time will be even better!
~This is a guarantee, because we are all awesome here. :rotfl:

Kat

Welcome to you! I'm Eva (32) a former Disney cast member-turned RN, and I'm traveling with my boyfriend of 2.5 years, Von (28). Ahoy!

Whoops! Von is now 29, he had a birthday. That makes me sound slightly less cougar-ish.

Just kidding, figured it out. Got my flight info over to DCL, so we are finally good to go! We had to scratch the buddy passes, the flights were getting way too full. Guess we'll just have to make an extra trip to Disneyland!

Awww.Sucks to be you, right? Forced to go to Disneyland:lmao:

Okay, Catherine your shirts in the mail tomorrow - flat rate box so it should be 2-3 day turnaround. Everyone else your shirts were mailed yesterday. Most everyone should have the same turnaround per the post office. I just sent an email with the costs. Even though we didn't make the 50 - the tshirt company we use for work cut us a break and we kept the costs at $10 for youth sizes to adult xl. xxl was 11. 3xl was 13 and 4xl was 14. Hope you like the shirts - I can't wait to sail!
