Hi Everyone!

My partner and I just booked our very first cruise. We are avid Disney fans and are already in love with the parks. The next step for us was of course the DCL.

You all seem like you have so much fun!

Any suggestions or recommendations for first time DCL folks?

Also, what are the initials we keep seeing? DD, DS, DH?

We look forward to speaking with everyone!

That might work.

I'll have to let you all know exactly what I want, so if you do run into him (he hangs out there as well) you can give him a great, big old hint. Yes, he's the type the almost literally needs to be hit over the head.
ummmmm - most men are!!!!:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:;)

Nice to meet you CADZ!

So about us....

We are both native Long Islanders and enjoy everything and anything Disney! I am 29 (soon to be the big 3-0) and he is 36. We are actually getting married next Spring and wanted a memorable honeymoon with Disney involved. We researched many cruise lines, but couldn't get past the feeling that Disney must do it best.

We did come up with some questions last night.
Do a lot of people go on the DCL without kids?
Do you recommend the main or second seating for dinner?
Is it hard to get reservations at Remy or Palo?

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?

-Artie

Awesome - Congratulations!!!
i am a bit older than you (you can see my recent cruise photos a few pages back)...and this cruise will be my 7th or 8th depending upon whether i do one next August. I am married but DH refuses to cruise, so my son has been my cruising buddy but he's in college now & not always able to go....so i cruise with good friends and/or my sisters (this cruise i'll be cruising with a couple of good friends - 1 who is my travel agent and my dear sister & brother in law)
There are always many cruisers without kids & the ships have some awesome "adult only" venues - bars / pools / restaurants....
I always choose 2nd seating as it seems to have more adults.
Palo/Remy's always saves some reservations for each booking group....so when it's time for you to book - there will be reservations available - i have also changed and even made some once onboard as well.
and you are SOOO right - Disney DOES do it right!!! i haven't even cruised any other cruise line for fear i'd be comparing everything to Disney & end up VERY disappointed

Congrats! Our DD is getting married next week and I am stressing.:scared1: Disney is the only way to go. We are empty nesters as is most of our traveling buddies. I am so excited to see the new ship! We also do the 2nd seating. It always works for us that way we eat dinner and then go to the adult only shows in the bar. We love Palo Brunch so that may be another option for you. We do not do dinner because we love our table mates and do not want to miss them. :lovestruc

Hi, Artie. Welcome Aboard. If you are looking to have a great time with a great group of people, I think that you have pick the right cruise to sail on. Of course, I might be a wee bit bias :goodvibes!!!

To answer some of your questions, although, I see that they have been answered for the most part, I'll just add my two cents. It seems to me that quite a few folks travel without kids. Out of our group of 12 sailing on this cruise
only one will be under 18 at the time of sailing along with only 2 others being 18. The rest are 25 and older.

As for dining, I actually prefer main dining. For some reason, it is just a better fit. I don't like eating very late at night, and sometimes that second seating seems to just drag on to me. But, that's me.

I have never had trouble booking reservations at Palo. In fact, we had reservations for tea, lunch and dinner on this last cruise. I really enjoyed tea. That was a new experience for me. As far as Remy goes, not too sure about that as it is on the new ships only and we haven't sailed on the Dream yet. I imagine that you should have no problems with reservations, even being newbies.

And let's see, a little about us. I will be traveling with my husband, mom, niece, our pastor's youngest daughter (she's one of the over 25 group), and some very, very dear friends of mine. My husband and I will actually be still celebrating our 5 year anniversary. In fact, we had a Walt Disney World honeymoon followed by a three day Disney cruise.

That's about it. Just keep posting away. Ask as many questions as you like and just have a great time. If you let me know your partner's name I will add you all to our main cruise page. Well, I will do that anyway.

Again, Welcome aboard!!!

Welcome,

I am Joanne traveling with Dh Roger and our cruising buddies. We met Dan & Nancy, & Tommy & Leisha on a DVC members cruise. Then we booked a 7 day the following year where we met Robin & Mike and Walt and Di. This will be our 6th cruise together. We just did alaska in August.

I am originally from NY and DH Mass. DH was in the Airforce and when he retired we stayed in florida. We are empty nesters. Youngest in the the Air force and stationed in Germany and oldest is in Austin Tx.

We prefer late dining- seems to work for staying by the pools and on the islands longer. We love Palo brunch, dinner is great also but as Leisha said we love our dinner companions and don't want to miss a night!!

We meet Joanne and Roger 7 yrs ago thru the Dis Board and on a Disney Vacation Club Members Cruise and the following yr we met Leisha and Tommy on a members cruise.
The six of us have been cruising together from that time. We also meet Mary jo and Phil on a members cruise in 2007 and met Di and Walt in 2009.We also me Robin and Mike in 2009.
We have aquired a cruising family who are GREAT FRIENDS.
