October 19th Cruisers again and again... Part 2

HI guys! I tried to post last night but the boards were down for maintance. I believe that ONLY Denine has received her gift. I haven't heard anything from Patty as where she has gotten hers or not or Barb or Susan or Bonnie. I haven't received mine either. I'm thinking that if we do this next year, we will have to have the date SET and if people don't get their gifts out then they PAY FOR THE NEXT CRUISE FOR EVERYONE. What do think? LOL! I know with the trips to Disney this year that things have gotten a little behind. How about we sent the date for Jan. 20th or 21st? That give people time to receive their gifts and IF anyone hasn't sent theirs out, they can still do so.

I will post more later but Garry's special day went VERY WELL! I will try to email pictures out later. I promise to post later today about the whole thing. Or I pay for the next cruise! LOL!

Gotta run and take my Dad to the dr's. He might be going back into the hospital. I'll explain more later!

TTFN

I'll never leave you guys! Just been a busy first week of Jan. Makenzie and Garry started back to school this week and just all the craziness!! I'm always here!!!

Christmas exchange: All of you slackers, you know who you are, either post that you have received your gift or send it out. This is not fair to those that have participated. Julie, maybe you need to e-amil some people. I have recieved mine, but don't know if the gift I sent was received.

Julie: Pixie dust to your dad! Looking forward to hearing about Garry's big day.

My eyes are back to norma feeling today. They got really messed up with the exam.

Jerry's mom and brother were able to get his dad cleaned up yesterday with my advice on how to do it. Now, I am finding out that his hands are contracting and he can't uncross his ankles. I gave Jerry instructions this morning on how to help with the hand, if his dad cooperates. I don't know if he has called his mom yet to explain. My FIL and I have never gotten along, but I feel bad for what this is doing to my MIL and Jerry and his brother. It will be a blessing when he goes.

I work tomorrow morning. Then I don't go back until next Friday. I could use the respite, especially not knowing what is going to happen with Jerry's dad. I don't even feel like we can make any plans to go out right now.

Kaleigh has been a bear today.

Heidi: Jerry and I have been called Mr and Mrs America. We always try to buy American. It is not always easy, but we try. Maybe it is a midwest thing.

Sandy: The test doesn't scare me, losing my eyesight terrifies me. Everything I do uses my eyes. I don't have glaucoma yet, but I am now at high risk for it. I am too young! I am cutting back on my Advair. I am going to try using it only once a day and hope it keep my asthma in check and lowers the pressure in my eyes.

Barb: Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Hi Everyone home safe and sound I will write more tomorrow. I have not received or sent my gift yet. Sorry, I have been a slacker. I had so much going on in December with Missy moving in, Christmas and the trip but I will get mine out.

Hi All! I tried to get on last night, but it was another crazy night here. Garry has every fri, sat, and sun off (right now) so he didn't have to go to bed early and Brooke knows when Dad is up. So she didn't go to bed last night until almost 1:30am! She loves her daddy! Now all week long she went to bed at her normal time, but she knows when daddy will be home.

Ok, I told you I would tell you about Garry's swearing in... we had all the kids (Anna Marie included). It was held at our local Theater (they are doing the play CATS real soon) on the stage. They had a black curtain up so they were just using the very front of the stage. They had a podium and 2 flags behind that. We all sat in the theater seats until they called him up. Before he was sworn in, they had to swear in the Mayor again, and 4 new/re-new council members as well. Let me tell you that I was never NEVER more proud of my kids!!! We sat in a row and it went Makenzie (in the middle of the row), Anna Marie, Garry (the Big Guy), myself, and then Garry on the end. Garry's dad and his wife and Garry's brother Bill and SIL Barb sat behind us and my parents were in sitting in the back of the theater because of my dad and Brooke started out there. Just before it started, all of the sudden we see Brooke at the end of our row and my mom behind her saying "she spotted you guys and wanted to come down". So I sat her on my lap. The mayor began his speeches (we were sitting behind his family) and I looked down at the Big Guy and he was sleeping. I thought good, at least they won't be restless and cause a scene. Then he started snoring! Not too loud but the Mayor's older daughter started laughing and looked back at him and said how sweet! After awhile, I looked down at Makenzie and she was sleeping! I thought good, no scene! I gave the camera to Anna Marie and she said Brooke was sleeping! Here I thought she was just being REALLY good on my lap! Finally, the Mayor called up Garry (before all this started, they told me that they would call me up to pin Garry's new badge on him. By the way, I DID have normal shoes on and the first thing I thought of was that I had to walk up these stair in the front of the theater with no railing and I was gonna fall flat on my face since this was the first time I was wearing normal shoes! But I didn't). Anyways, Garry got up and here I had Brooke sleeping in my arms, so I ran up the aisle with her and handed her to my mom then ran back down the aisle to watch him get sworn in. After his oath, they called me up and I pinned his new badge on and then I had to go back down the stairs infront of everyone (nope, didn't fall that time either). Garry gave a quick speak and thanked all of us who were there, introduced ALL the family and even made a joke about his son Garry who just woke up. After everyone was sworn in, they had cake and coffee in the lobby. Again, I was never so proud of the kids! Brooke walked through all the people there to find me and wanted me to hold her. The other two sat in some seats with my neice and nephew eating a piece of cake. No one ran around or screamed or anything with all those "important" (so they think) people from city hall. I thought "where are my children and what have you done with them!" After all the congrats from the people who were there, all of the family who was there (my mom, dad, SIL, neice, nephew, 2 of my aunts and uncles (one came from Brunswick which is about a 25 min. drive or so) his brother and SIL from Michigan and his dad and his wife) all went to the Lone Star steak house for lunch. It was very nice! I do have pictures and will post or email them to you guys when I can figure out how to do so!

So Barb, can't wait to hear about your trip! We love disney at Christmas. We watched the parade on Christmas morning and thought of you guys!

My dad will be going back into the hospital either today or tomorrow. I know he had to go for blood work today. His "good foot" had a blister on the heal that wouldn't heal. Well they found out last week that it now had an infection in it and wanted him to go for a bone scan to see if the infection was in the bone. WELL, my dad who doesn't want to go to any dr or admit that something is wrong and NEEDS to go, didn't go for the scan. They did put him on antibiodics, but they really need the scan which he refused to do! Anyways, he had a foot dr appointment yesterday and he still has the infection. They said they need to treat it with IV antibiodics since they had already changed the ones he was on before. They decided to take an xray to see if the infection was into the bone and the xray showed he has a broken bone in that foot!!! Nice! So, he will be going into the hospital so they can start treating the infection so they can try and save the foot. He other foot had all the toes and top part of the foot removed about 13yrs ago. He has already told my mother that if he goes into the hospital, he won't be coming out. NICE! I keep trying to tell him that his grandkids need him around awhile more which would help for awhile, but he is soooooo blue now, that I don't think that would help.

Just when I thought this year would be different.... I just have to give lots of prayers and pixie dust out to him. If the infection isn't in the bone yet, the iv anti's SHOULD work, but....... we shall see!

That's enough from me for now! I'll post more later!!!

TTFN

Julie: Pixie dust to your dad. I hope the infection hasn't gotten into the bone. It is amazing how much he sounds like Jerry's dad! I could just picture the swearing in. I was shocked to read that Garry's brother came for it. We were there in spirit. I am sure you were quite proud of Garry too.

Barb: Welcome home!

Work was fine today. I am glad I don't have to go back till next week.

Have to take some groceries to Jerry's mom tomorrow.

Need to take down Christmas decorations. I started last night.

Julie and Denine, both. All my heart, prayers and thoughts go out to you for both fathers. I think you both know that I certainly understand everything that you are going through and if I can help in ANY way, please, call me. :grouphug:

Julie, as an AUNT, I am so proud of your kids as well. Sounds like everything went so smooth. I loved reading all about it. You guys were in my thoughts all day.

Welcome back Barb. Can't wait to hear all about the trip. I am confused. Is your mom back, also?

As I type, I am getting a little emotional. This thread seems to be dying and I hate it. You all mean so much to me and I would be devastated if we go our separate ways. I would love to see Susan back, Bonnie and Jeanne more active like before, Patti checking in a little more often. Wouldn't it be great if lurker Laurie would appear again. Or Lori, or Krista. How sad. We have lost so many.

Just an update. Jerry's dad was taken to Parma ER about an hour ago. He is dehydrated and his BP was too low. There really is nothing they can do for him beyond IV fluids, so I don't know if they will admit him or just bolster him. Jerry just left to go to the hospital. It is about 45 minutes from here.
Julie, is your dad going to be at Parma?

Denine, let me know about Jerry's dad. IF ANYTHING happens and you need someone to watch Kaleigh for a few hours, give me a call. There is nothing worse then times like this with a little one around. I know you have Judy too, but sometimes you need more help. Especially if you have to get out here in a hurry. Yes my dad will be at Parma. SO FAR they have decided to admit him on monday UNLESS they get the results of his culture tomorrow and want him this weekend.

Sandy, this thread won't die! Between you, Heidi, Barb, Sally, Denine, and Jeanne we will always be here. I won't let it!!! This is my only escape! I may not post everyday, but I LOVE reading everyone's posts! I hope Bonnie will begin to post again. I miss her!!! I will try to get a hold of Susan this weekend. I hope she is ok. I know she had some health issues and I know Turner is sooooooo busy.

Keep us posted Denine! Prayers and pixie dust coming your way!!!!!

Thanks Julie!

Jerry's dad was admitted to the ICU. He has a UTI, but I guess his heart was doing goofy things again. The nurse from the VNA was so upset about Jerry's dad and the visiting nurse from Parma that she asked for her name to report her. SHe kept saying there was no reason for her to come when the reason she was requested by the doctor was because of his bleeding fistula, which, she apparently never looked at. The nurse from the VNA came because the visiting doctor was on vacation. Jerry didn't get home until almost 1 AM, of course I didn't fall aslepp until some time after that.
Jerry went to the grocery store to get groceries for his mom, which had been planned. We will take the groceries over later and go see his dad.
The one good thing is that this takes the burden off Jerry's mom. SHe has been in so far over her head.

Denine, hugs. Hope everything is going ok. Keep us posted

Julie, thanks for the words of encouragement. I just sometimes feel down that no one ever posts anymore. This thread is like you said, an escape!

Hi everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!!

Denine- Sorry to hear about Jerry's Dad. We really need to keep this thread going to help each other through the hard times.

Today is my Moms birthday. After Disney they flew back to Houston then are in the process of driving home. I think she said they would be home tomorrow.

Disney was fantastic. I love it at Christmas time. Missy is still really excited about her picture of the Smashmouth guy. They closed Buzz Lightyear but we did get to ride it before it closed. Buzz is one of my favorites.

I bought some Christmas presents while we were in Disney. Got them all wrapped and started making plans for next years Disney vacation. Think we will go about the same time.

Got about 3/4 of my Christmas stuff down. Now I have to pack it all up until next October. Guess I should get busy.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

You beat me to it Barb....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALLY!!!!!!!

What better way to celebrate then to be at Disney with your family!

Welcome home Barb!!! Gald to hear your trip was a success! I bet you took a few photos of Ethan! Garry and I were just talking about Christmas at Disney! there really isn't another place like it!!! Times flys when you are there at this time. We are probably going to schedule a disney Christmas trip in 2007 (usually the first week of Dec).

Boy the first of the year comes and things become crazy again! I can't believe that Brooke will be 2 tomorrow!!! Where has the time gone. We will be having her party probably next sun.

Update.... My dad went into the hospital today instead of monday. The dr called this morning and said that the culture results came back and they decided to start him now on the IV anti's then to wait any longer. He has a MRSA (pronounced mur-sa) infection for all you nurses out there. It's a type of staf infection is what they tell me. They are hoping that the infection hasn't gone into the bone. Keep your fingers crossed that it hasn't. This is why I haven't posted today until now. It has been crazy around here with everyone calling to see what is going on with my dad.

Denine, my dad is on the 6th floor at Parma. Hey, let me know when you guys go see Jerry's dad, maybe we could meet for some great hospital food!! LOL!!!! NOT!!!!

Well, gotta go! The phone is ringing again!!

TTFN

Update: Jerry's dad has had another heart attack. His heart rate is up, his blood pressure is down. Not good. His heart rate is doing goofy things. On top of that, he has a really bad bed sore (decub) from those days when he wasn't cleaned up and was sitting in God knows what and in the same position. I smelled it as soon as we walked in the door last night. They are going to debride (clean out the dead tissue) this morning. It will never heal. He is on Morphine and is hallucintating. He said some very interesting things when we were there last night. When/if he goes home, he will be on a modified hospice through the VNA. He will have a hospital bed. They have told them that there is nothing they can do except try to stabilize him and send him home.

Julie: MRSA is tough to get rid of, but it can be done. Unless something happens today, we probably won't see Jerry's dad until tomorrow evening.

I got all the decorations down yesterday except for the tree and I started working on that this morning.

Happy Birthday Sally!

Happy Birthday Brooke!

Barb: Sounds like you had a really nice time at WDW! Christmas presents for next year bought and wrapped? :worship:

We are up for a trip the first week of December 2007. The 1st is on a Saturday.

Sandy: I am like you, upset that so many have stopped posting. Where is that Bonnie anyway?

Checking in.....got home about 5 and am so tired.....and all I did was ride all day...lol

Got an email from my nephew's wife saying my sister has been in the hospital for l2 days and home for 3 and if they had waited another 36 hours she wouldn't have made it She is very weak and they don't think she will live long unless she starts moving as she is very weak. She had not been in good health for several years....and I talked to her just before I left on the l6th and she said she is ready to go. She hasn't been able to walk for a lot of years and has gained so much weight from not being able to get around...she has several problems that go with being so overweight....I felt so sorry for her because she was the one that liked to play basketball, bowl, golf, etc and then not being able to do that anymore was really hard for her. It was late before I read the email and they live in Ohio so I will call them tomorrow to see how she is doing.

Otherwise we had a great time....can't believe I have been gone over 3 weeks....tell you more about it later

It is late so am off to bed....missed you guys

Welcome back Sally and Barb. Sounds like you guys had a great time!!! Any good stories to share?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALLY!!!

Denine - pixie dust to you, Jerry and your FIL. That sounds awful what he is going through. I am definitely thinking of you at this hard time.

Julie - That is too funny about the Big guy snoring!!! That would have been Chris if we were there!!!! Sounds like the kids cooperated nicely for that day. I thought of you that day.

I had a nice busy weekend. I went skiing with my dad on Saturday and then came home to two girls begging to go to Build-a-bear. We went there and had a blast, I was glad my mom and dad could go. Then Sunday was playing with the girls and doing laundry all day long. It was a good weekend, but I am tired today.

Good morning Heidi and everyone.....

Planned on sleeping in today but was awake at 5....guess I am still on Flordia time....going to grocery store and then have laundry to do....I overpacked as usual but going for 3 weeks to different places was a little hard to figure.

Happy New Year...hope this year is better for everyone and thank you for the Birthday wishes.....

Good Morning,

Welcome back Mom. I missed you. I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Shirley please keep me posted.

My Dad was alot of fun in Disney. I am so glad he was able to enjoy the parks this time. I was a little worried about him on the Rockin Roller Coaster. He and I rode together, the first thing he said was "Is that all"? We went to a charater breakfast the last day. Ethan gave Piglet several kisses. It was really cute.

I am determined to make 2006 a better year. I am working on my calander today. We have a lot going on this year. Jason's wedding, Tiffany graduation, cruise, camping hummmm....

Back to work today after almost 2 weeks off. I am catching up on my email and other misc things. Missy is really sick at home. She has a horrible sore throat. I don't really know what to do for her. Tiffany is out of school at 8:40 so she will take care of Ethan until I get home at 4:00. I am praying that Ethan does not get sick. Neither Missy or Ethan have any medical insurance.

A Christmas Disney trip in 2007 sounds great. I like going after Christmas but if everyone is going before I could change my schedule.

Good morning everyone. Wow, it was so nice to have something to read today.

Denine, I can understand about bed sores. Our friend really had a nasty one. Not exactly sure where she got it. It probably started at the hospital when we were cruising and it just got better. No one was very good about moving her around until she hit hospice and they were so great about it. Sorry about the heart attack.

Julie, how is your dad? Been thinking about him a lot since Sataurday. I tell you something. I am an EXPERT at eating hospital food. :faint: Seems like pretty much for 6 months that is all we ate for dinner. That would be pretty cool if you two couples would meet up and have dinner. It could lighten up the sadness and anxiety.

Barb, welcome home. You were missed. Sorry that Missy is so sick. I will send pixie dust that Ethan doesn't get it. I can't believe they shut down Buzz. Was it for rehab or what? I also can't believe that you ride the roller coaster. You are a brave woman. I have never rode it. Remember me??? Nervous Nellie!! :rotfl2:

:rose: Sally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! Welcome home. It seems like you have been gone forever. I am sure that was a very hard trip to pack for. I am very sorry to hear about your sister. Even though she hasn't been doing well, it is still hard to hear.

I todesn't sound like this year has gotten off to a very good start, Jerry and Julie's dads, now Sally's sister and Missy is sick. Can we have a do over?

Jerry's dad is more stable. They have his hear rate into the 90's now (lower) and his BP at 100/something which is higher. They debrided his decub yesterday and said it went well but they will probably have to do it a couple more times. He will probably be in the hospital several more days.

We are going to the hospital tonight but on the way we have to drop off library books then stop at Great Northern Mall to pick up my new glasses and then onto Parma Hospital. Maybe we will see Julie. We won't be there until areound 6 PM.

Welcome back Sally!
