Hi All! I tried to get on last night, but it was another crazy night here. Garry has every fri, sat, and sun off (right now) so he didn't have to go to bed early and Brooke knows when Dad is up. So she didn't go to bed last night until almost 1:30am! She loves her daddy! Now all week long she went to bed at her normal time, but she knows when daddy will be home.
Ok, I told you I would tell you about Garry's swearing in... we had all the kids (Anna Marie included). It was held at our local Theater (they are doing the play CATS real soon) on the stage. They had a black curtain up so they were just using the very front of the stage. They had a podium and 2 flags behind that. We all sat in the theater seats until they called him up. Before he was sworn in, they had to swear in the Mayor again, and 4 new/re-new council members as well. Let me tell you that I was never NEVER more proud of my kids!!! We sat in a row and it went Makenzie (in the middle of the row), Anna Marie, Garry (the Big Guy), myself, and then Garry on the end. Garry's dad and his wife and Garry's brother Bill and SIL Barb sat behind us and my parents were in sitting in the back of the theater because of my dad and Brooke started out there. Just before it started, all of the sudden we see Brooke at the end of our row and my mom behind her saying "she spotted you guys and wanted to come down". So I sat her on my lap. The mayor began his speeches (we were sitting behind his family) and I looked down at the Big Guy and he was sleeping. I thought good, at least they won't be restless and cause a scene. Then he started snoring! Not too loud but the Mayor's older daughter started laughing and looked back at him and said how sweet! After awhile, I looked down at Makenzie and she was sleeping! I thought good, no scene! I gave the camera to Anna Marie and she said Brooke was sleeping! Here I thought she was just being REALLY good on my lap! Finally, the Mayor called up Garry (before all this started, they told me that they would call me up to pin Garry's new badge on him. By the way, I DID have normal shoes on and the first thing I thought of was that I had to walk up these stair in the front of the theater with no railing and I was gonna fall flat on my face since this was the first time I was wearing normal shoes! But I didn't). Anyways, Garry got up and here I had Brooke sleeping in my arms, so I ran up the aisle with her and handed her to my mom then ran back down the aisle to watch him get sworn in. After his oath, they called me up and I pinned his new badge on and then I had to go back down the stairs infront of everyone (nope, didn't fall that time either). Garry gave a quick speak and thanked all of us who were there, introduced ALL the family and even made a joke about his son Garry who just woke up. After everyone was sworn in, they had cake and coffee in the lobby. Again, I was never so proud of the kids! Brooke walked through all the people there to find me and wanted me to hold her. The other two sat in some seats with my neice and nephew eating a piece of cake. No one ran around or screamed or anything with all those "important" (so they think) people from city hall. I thought "where are my children and what have you done with them!" After all the congrats from the people who were there, all of the family who was there (my mom, dad, SIL, neice, nephew, 2 of my aunts and uncles (one came from Brunswick which is about a 25 min. drive or so) his brother and SIL from Michigan and his dad and his wife) all went to the Lone Star steak house for lunch. It was very nice! I do have pictures and will post or email them to you guys when I can figure out how to do so!
So Barb, can't wait to hear about your trip! We love disney at Christmas. We watched the parade on Christmas morning and thought of you guys!
My dad will be going back into the hospital either today or tomorrow. I know he had to go for blood work today. His "good foot" had a blister on the heal that wouldn't heal. Well they found out last week that it now had an infection in it and wanted him to go for a bone scan to see if the infection was in the bone. WELL, my dad who doesn't want to go to any dr or admit that something is wrong and NEEDS to go, didn't go for the scan. They did put him on antibiodics, but they really need the scan which he refused to do! Anyways, he had a foot dr appointment yesterday and he still has the infection. They said they need to treat it with IV antibiodics since they had already changed the ones he was on before. They decided to take an xray to see if the infection was into the bone and the xray showed he has a broken bone in that foot!!! Nice! So, he will be going into the hospital so they can start treating the infection so they can try and save the foot. He other foot had all the toes and top part of the foot removed about 13yrs ago. He has already told my mother that if he goes into the hospital, he won't be coming out. NICE! I keep trying to tell him that his grandkids need him around awhile more which would help for awhile, but he is soooooo blue now, that I don't think that would help.
Just when I thought this year would be different.... I just have to give lots of prayers and pixie dust out to him. If the infection isn't in the bone yet, the iv anti's SHOULD work, but....... we shall see!
That's enough from me for now! I'll post more later!!!
