October 19, 2008 4 day Bahama - anyone else?

Elastia-Girl

Welcome back! 2 week vacation in Indiana! Could have thrown a stone down my way! So many cool things to do here..did you go to Indy to the Childrens Musium, or to Santa Claus to Holiday World?

I'm finally getting my plans together ! Getting ready to call comfort suites in Nassau to book a room. There are only 2 of us and will get 4 arm bands, if I get the room does anyone want to go in with me for the other 2 armbands?

Booked my room at the All Star Sports after the cruise. I am thinking that the room at the Sports will seem alot larger than normal after our room on board the ship!:)

Trying to get a room at the airport the night before the cruise. I think I have just decided to use Disney Transportation and take a vacation from driving and having to worry about rentina a car. Let Disney do the driving.:flower3:

DH grew up in South Bend and graduated from IU Bloomington in 89. We were visiting his family in South Bend, and then popped over to Ohio to Cedar Point and visit friends in Toledo. Also spent time at Lake Michigan where my SIL has a sweet little lake cottage.

I think you made the right decision about not renting a car. We're doing the same thing, using Disney transportation for everything. We are staying at the All Star Movies (Herbie) and PO French Quarter hotels before our stay. We had the POFQ as part of our package, but adding on 2 days was much cheaper at the All Star. LOL about the rooms seeming larger after being on board!!

we are about 1 hr 20 min away from cedar point. close to the ohio, pa line.

renting a car is good if you want to get to the port a little earlier, but this time we thought we'd chill also and let disney take care of it.:woohoo:

Hi All,
I finally did it and stopped lurking and joined in the fun. My family and I are doing a land and sea and I personally can't wait for the sea part! This will be our first cruise ever and we are sooooo excited! "we" are me(mom) my DH ,and 3 sons 6, 8 and 10( my 10 year old will have his 10th b-day on the ship)
snowball, I was looking at the comfort suites as well but because we are a family of 5 we would need 2 rooms soooo, I might take you up on that braclet if no one has beat me to it.
we are also in the late dinner seating and I will be parasailing in CC as well as all of us doing the sting ray adventure, I can't wait!

Welcome! Sounds like our boys are around the same ages. My two will be 6 and 9 on the cruise. The older one has a birthday right before the cruise. Where are you staying on the land portion? We're at POFQ Resort (one of the moderates) and our state room on the cruise is 5520, one of the secret porthole rooms behind the Oceaneer Lab. Can't wait!

Too cute! Big pupper - I thought "Candy" would be a little dog, LOL. And too funny about the place going under without you.

thats what robin told me for a year. at 50 lbs, she wont get much bigger than that. at 75 lbs, she wont get much bigger than that!!then at 100, she stopped.:scared: :rolleyes1

Hey mclewes and Elasta-girl, my boys are 8 and 10. I'm sure they'll all have lots of fun. Right now my boys don't even have a clue that we're going on this cruise. I still haven't figured out when/how to tell them........maybe as we pull up to the ship!

Any suggestions........

Some how our name was missed for the fish extender...I had asked about it early August so maybe it got overlooked...
What a cutie!! When we had a dog, we would board her at the "pet spa", unless of course family or friends were available for the duration of our time away. It's the whole reason that we've not gotten another dog since her passing (3 years ago)--- I plan too many trips, and the cost of boarding hasn't been worked back into the budget.

BTW-- I've added you to the updated fish-extender participant section after the roll call list on post #14.

Cheers,

Sounds like some boys near 10 will be on our cruise. Our son is sooooo excited. He will turn 11 at Christmas. Hope to meet you all at 3:00 near the pool:cool1:

We are looking at renting a bike on CC but will have a four month old with us. The age said all; does anyone know if they have child seats on the back of the bikes? Will it really work to rent a bike with a four month old? We are also snorkeling, but intend for dh and I to take turns going into the water.

We are limited on funds for Nassau as we are doing the Discovery Cove in Orlando. Does anyone have any tips for us? We were looking at just walking into town and then going back on the ship for lunch and the rest of the day.

Thanks for any input.

Hey PRINCESSAJASMINE and Elastagirl!
sounds like we've got the start of a good boys club. I could never keep this secret, I'm too excited, but it would be fun to see the look on their faces driving up to the port! You could say you were going to a space shuttle launch! lol
We are in a cat4 8012 near the bridge. If I had read these sites sooner I would have booked 2 cat 10s for less! Oh well, next time! We are at por for one night and then BC for 3. We decided to go with the town car so we can get to port earlier and because it's cheaper, and we can stop for water and diet sprite on the way to the ship! We used to live in FL and have been to Disney a few times but the idea of a cruise ahhhhhh relaxing!

glad you stopped lurking and decided to join in.:wizard:
the parasailing is great.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
we did it last oct. :woohoo:

Sorry about that oversight--- you're on the list now

Transportation to the port: Well, I finally got a great rate for a rental car... p/u on our way from MCO to WDW and d/o back at MCO after two nights at BWV... for under $165. Even with paying for parking at the port we're spending less than a r/t towncar WDW to Port.

Nassau: We've decided to stay on board the Wonder when we get into Nassau. We want this to be a relaxing trip--- how better to relax than be on a ship "almost" by yourself.

Castaway Cay: We've got waverunners reserved (for an hour) for the afternoon-- can't wait!!!

Cheers,

Welcome. :thumbsup2 You're gonna love it. After we went parasailing, I told my dh, Mike (dyerneeds)... "That makes me want to go skydiving". :rotfl2: I'm not so sure he liked that idea. :confused3

um, no he didnt. :scared:
i think my wife is trying to kill me for the insurance money.

I haven't decided if I'm getting off in Nassau or not..last time we cruised. It poured!!! and even though I had a room reserved at the Atlantis, I never even went over there to see it. I'm debating if I should bother this trip or not :confused3 I love being on the ship, but I guess if I get off early enough, it won't kill me..:rotfl2: I have a snorkel thing reserved. I guess you get on some boat and go somewhere to snorkel (CC not Nassau) I have only done it in my pool, so I'm not sure how I will make out..:confused3
Is snorkle spelled with an "el" at the end or "le"?? anywho..I can't wait to go...I need to stop spending money and save some or I won't be buying any conch coolers...

Sorry to butt in on your thread. I am in the process of trying to transfer my date to this date.(res system is down right now:sad1: )--here is what DH and I are doing to surprise our 2:

"OK DH and I have the plan for the big reveal of the surprise cruise figured out:

Once we get past the airport on our drive to the port we will begin a trivia game to pass the time.(they think they are driving to Bush Gardens) This will consist of 4-5 trivia questions for the kids. They will be told there is a prize at the end. The last question will be "how does it feel to be surprised with a 4 night cruise on the Disney Wonder?" At that time they will be presented with their prize--t-shirts that say "My surprise Birthday Cruise 2008" And we will tell them to put them on. Hopefully we can time this right so that we are driving right at the point where you can see the cruise ships."

I hope to be on this sailing by the end of the day.
