Jennifer,

Thanks for the input!! :hippie: I will ease the Mom into this world as gently as I can. She has lots of questions and concerns. I'll provide her with the kids link tonight after I get home from work (also after I know their decision!) You all keep your fingers crossed for me!! I don't get to see them enough and I really want to share this wonderful experience with them!

Penny :dance3:

WOOP WOOP! They are going!! Gotta get started making magnets and such for them now!! :dance3::dance3:
Can't wait for Pirate Night with a 4 year old!!

That's great that they are going to join you! I watched the DCL planning DVD again yesterday (some motivation for me while I'm on the treadmill :thumbsup2) and I'm getting so excited for the trip!

I've decided to have my DS(3) and DD(5) just use my email for the kids chat. That way I can assist and don't have to set up another account they aren't really old enough yet to use. I think it will be very helpful for the kids to see pictures before the cruise, that way they will see some friendly faces right off the bat.
Maybe we can plan a little kids/parents meet in the kids clubs the first night or first morning? I'll transfer this discussion to the yahoo group..

I'm really anxious to update my signature to include this cruise... I hope I'm not stepping on any toes! ;)

I made this graphic:

I thought the border added a little something and made it look like a vintage photo/postcard. What do guys think???

The same graphic - just a bit smaller:

Love it, hope you don't mind if I steal it for my signature. I am pretty open on the design. Would love is someone had a Disney font to do the words.

Thanks!

Hello fellow-cruisers! I just wanted to chime in and let everyone know that my husband and I will be on this cruise also. We are coming to the party somewhat late because we have rescheduled from another cruise that we recently discovered we won't be able to do. (I just learned that I got into the NYC marathon via the lottery system and will be doing that instead.)

We are a couple from NC in our late 50's and I believe this will be our 8th time cruising with DCL. We are in Cabin#7120 and have late dining. After checking the roster on the first page, I was thrilled to learn that Wendy and Doreen are also on this cruise. We have sailed with them 3 times before and look forward to another hilarious, and oftentimes inebriated, journey together. :rotfl:

We are also sailing with another couple, Nancy and Norm from PA, who sometimes post on this board.

Looking forward to meeting everyone onboard!

Jeanne

Hi Jeanne! My family and I are from NC too...the Charlotte area. My husband Rob and I will be crusing for the first time with our two kids, Lauren (8) and Josh (5). We'll be celebrating Rob's 49th bday and our 12th anniversary. Looking forward to meeting you!

:welcome: Jeanne,

Wow the NYC Marathon that is a bucket list item to change a cruise for. Congratulations on getting selected. I guess you might be running on deck four to prepare for the NYC Marathon (isn't it in Novemember?).

If you go to post 677 (on page 46), Monica has create a yahoo group as well. I have a spreadsheet posted with information there. I will add your information.

I love it that by chance you all meet up with people on the same cruise time and time again. This will be only our 2nd cruise and our first was WAY back in 1999 on the Magic.

Laura

Jennifer: Hi NC neighbor!

Laura: Thanks for the info. I tried to sign in, but haven't used my Yahoo account in over 5 years so I have to wait for them to reactivate it. I'm shutting down now, so it should be tomorow.

We are from New Brunswick, Canada, and are on the cruise, Oct 17th. DH, DS, parents, and me. Our second DC. We did the land and sea last September on the Wonder. Fabulous! We booked this DC while there. Fun time!

Yay another Canadian!!!! Fun, WElcome to our Cruise Family!!:cool1:

Hi again everyone! I just need to inquire about something. My sister-in-law and family might be joining me on this cruise. She has a 4yr old DS. He's not big into computers for kids chat, but does anyone have anysuggestions for smaller ones to get involved, or should we try to web cam him with other kids? It would be nice if he had some idea of who would be going so he could know someone there. I'm figuring that they will stay at the Residence Inn with us the night before. I will know a bit later today if they are going to squeeze it in this year. They weren't planning on trying to go until next year. I'm tickled and hope they go!:cheer2:
Hi!! Thats great that your SIL will be travelling with you, Im helping my kids with the kids yahoo group, the basically just want to see pics of the other kids. We posted an album from our cruise last year, and the boys want to upload some soccer pictures. Maybe your SIL could just sit with him and browse through the pictures.....its a closed group and people can only join after being approved, so she doesnt have to worry about random people looking at any pictures or anything, I know that can be a concern among parents nowadays!:thumbsup2

This is a great idea, and I love the SigGIE!!

Wow a marathon, and the NYC marathon at that...Congrats:banana:
Thats so great that your on the same cruise as people you've cruised with before, thats exciting!:cool1:

We're also wait-listed for the early seating...I think the Dine & Play sounds like it will definitly be worth trying for us. But I also think that we'll have a few nights of eating earlier (and more casual) at the buffet. Knowing my hubby and kids we won't be in the "nice" restaurants EVERY night. But when we are it sounds like a good option.

Jennifer

Dine and Play sounds awesome.. do you have to sign up for this?? We are on second seating too ... it worked the last time we were on the cruise and had late seating.. but she WAS tired!!

My sis-in-law just booked and she has a 4 year old. I called my TA and got all the info for them prior, and one of the things I asked about was the Din and play option. Here is how it works: You walk in and tell your server as he seats you that you want to participate in Dine and Play for the evening. They get to work feeding the kids and then a CM from the children's area walks through at a designated time and collects those children who are participating for the evening. :wizard:

Hi all!!
Lifting my head from the mound of exam scripts littering my dining room table but wanted to say welcome to all the new cruisers. Mum and I are delighted to be cruising with Jeanne and John and Nancy and Norm again - but what a reputation Jeanne is giving us - I dont remember drinking anything alcoholic...! And we will be just around the corner in 7619!!
Just 8.5 school days left before summer vacation starts but have these scripts to mark and a party to organise for next sat - I am having a "non-celebration" of a certain birthday a few weeks early. I thought if I held it at my house I could control my friends better - probably a daft idea!
Anyway hope everyone is having a lovely weekend
Wendy

Wendy and Jeanne - I think it is so neat that you have met each other before and will once again be traveling on the same cruise. And you didn't plan it. :worship:

We cruised on DCL back in 1999 and did not remember meeting anyone. But back then we were not on DIS. It was a 4 day cruise and dinner we were place just with our family.

This is DD7 princess: first cruise and she is more than excited.:yay: Everyone that listens knows we are going on THE DISNEY CRUISE OCT 17. :yay:

I know we are still 4 months out, but I am Dreaming of DIScovering Neverland.

Laura

Hi, everyone. We're back from our get-away. We must have gotten away at just the right time. Every night, when I talked to my husband on the phone (he couldn't stay the whole week) he told me it rained constantly. Where we were a few afternoon thunderstorms rolled through but they came so late in the afternoon it was almost evening and we were through with our day's adventures by then.

I'm still catching up with what's going on here but I did add the newest members to page one. Welcome aboard!

Monica, I just noticed your signature. Are you a teacher?

Laura

Yes, I am. Before we had children, I was a school teacher. When I left teaching school, I continued to tutor and teach small groups privately, and for the past 9 years I have been homeschooling our kids. Now that their educational needs are more time-consuming, I don't tutor much. Probably, once our youngest is in her last years of "high school", I'll get serious about making a part-time career of tutoring and teaching homeschool groups again. I have no plans for renewing my certification in order to return to teaching in the public schools.

Probably if we had tried to plan it, it wouldn't have worked out! We have met so many wonderful people via the Disboards and cannot wait to cruise with them again. We have so many happy memories of previous cruises and it really has given my mum a new lease on life - my brothers and sister cannot believe what she gets up to when she is away! In summer we are also spending time in Texas with another Disboard friend and her husband - when the way to identify other Disboarders was lime green ribbon I happened to mention in a post I couldn't find any, Barbara offered to send me some. She wouldnt be put off even when I said I was in the UK and from then on has grown a wonderful friendship. The last couple of weeks have been really stressful but since hearing Jeanne and co are joining us and a couple of other things my life is feeling truly blessed. :worship::worship:
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for sharing the story of how you met Jeanne. That's really cool how you made a connection online and have turned it into a real-life friendship. By the way, the identifying lime green is still around. I've seen Dis-ers in the port wearing their lime green shirts, caps, ribbons or pins.

On our last two cruises we linked dinner reservations with Dis families we met here online. That was fun! Having dinners together was lovely, and we meant to stay connected, but we have only kept in touch with one of the couples. I wish we could do that again, but with our party consisting of 8 people, I'm sure we'll be maxing out the table as it is.

dine and play sounds awesome.. may try it esp. if we don't have to book in advance..

From what I read, you don't have to book in advance, just decided when you arrive in the dining room what you want to do. I am still hoping for early dining. :rolleyes1
