Hi guys!!

I'll be here until Thursday night!! Since I won't be sleeping much on Thursday night I'm sure I'll be able to speak to Hitomi in Japan...person to person (online, of course)!!

I have another question for you guys. What's the first thing Chuck and I do when we set foot on the ship (besides grabbing the drink of the day)? Do we go right to sign up for Palo Brunch ressies or see if our room is ready for us? I'm thinking Palo first, then room check, then lunch???

Brenda, I got my Bahama's immigration forms today.

Date of arrival...10/21/05 right? (That one is rather obvious)
City where you boarded this boat..."Pt Canaveral" won't fit. What did you use?
Type of accomodations..."other" ?

Can you believe one week from right now we will be at the life boat drill???

Boy these boards are getting less and less activity. Unfortunatly we don't leave til friday morning. Of course I won't have time to post on Friday as we have to head to the airport about 6:30-7:00 AM. To answer someone's question about Palo's reservations....etc. Things may have changed since they are now allowing people to reserve early on the disney site, but when we went on the wonder 2 years ago there were set times. They had the hallways roped off until all the bags were in the staterooms so you couldn't get to your room until the ropes were dropped, Palo's reservations were being taken in one of the clubs but they didn't open the doors until 1:00 or 1:30 (we got there about 12:30 and the line started forming almost immediatly.) Check the navigators out and it should tell you what time. 4 more work days...5 more days total!

My concern is not the weather that the Magic will sail thru to get to PC, it will be long gone by then, but the weather at Norfolk while the ship is under renovations. Things like attaching that big screen might be hard to do with rain and wind. I'm sure I'm worring over nothing..........

Nancy,
if you really want those brunch reservations the first thing you should do is go to the club where they are taking Palo reservations and take care of that. Then go have some lunch - the rooms aren't usually ready much before 1PM anyway - the corridors on those decks will be roped off until the stateroom hosts / hostesses are finished making everything "just so" for us. Your best bet for the tropical drink will be up on deck 9 - the Outlook bar is good and there will be people wandering around with trays of slushy colorful drinks (they are non-alcoholic but they have rum shots with them if you want to kick it up a notch). If you want something alcoholic, though. I suggest the bar - it will taste better and will be fresher.

On the immigration form I just put Port Canaveral whether it fits or not - it's not our fault that Bahamian immigration tries to cram everything into little boxes.

I think I ignored accomodations because we're not staying overnight.

Thanks for the clarification, Jo. I was thinking that the Magic wouldn't be able to make it back to Florida by Saturday and I was ready to start panicking - I had visions of all my carefully orchestrated vacation plans flying right out the window.

I'm sure we'll all be keeping an eye on the skies this week.

My problem is that I'm not sure of that. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the Magic is scheduled to leave Norfolk Thursday afternoon or evening. The current track of the tropical system puts the "sphere of uncertainty" in the area of Norfolk on Thursday afternoon: Projected Path
Of course, the system could speed up, slow down, or even take a radically different path...So who knows?!?

what happens if the cone of uncertainty is in the Magic's path? what do you think could happen then?

I really don't know. Maybe if DCL sees that developing, they will "bug out" of Norfolk early. In that case, they might not be able to complete some of the upgrades they are working on. I suppose the worst case scenario is that they could get stuck in Norfolk an extra day or two waiting for the storm to move by, and that could delay our departure by a day or two.

The good news is this is not a particularly impressive looking system at this point, and it is actually forecast to weaken (from a tropical storm back to a depression) later this week. If we are lucky, it will just fall apart all together.

I too tend to worry a lot...at this point I want to be prepared for as much as possible and the Magic not getting back on time was the only thing that didn't
occur to me (isn't that always the way?).

We'll just keep watching and hoping that everything works out. I'm sure DCL is already planning accordingly.

Can someone remind me the procedure and cost of bringing our own wine and letting the servers..is it uncork or recork?! We've never done it before, but when I mentioned it to my husband he was interested. He's also wondering how they chill it if he wants it on the first night.

Going off the top off my head here, but I believe you are charged a $15 corkage fee if you bring your own bottle to the dining room and have it with dinner.

I would suggest that you try to chill the wine in your room prior to dinner and then take it with you and hand it off. If it's supposed to be served chilled I'm sure they can put it on ice briefly. Or why not bring a smooth red instead that is served at room temperature? Then you wouldn't have to worry about it?

BTW - sometimes it helps to wait a day or two before handing a bottle off to your servers. Last year we had a bottle of champagne that we took to our serving team on semi-formal night and told them we wanted to have it with dinner so that we could share with our table-mates. They were wonderful and didn't even charge us extra for the service (of course it probably helped that we were tipping them every night because we always had drinks with dinner that weren't covered...pelligrino, specialty drinks, yadda yadda...). But still - I think that fee ends up being somewhat discretionary. Just my experience.

I know all about that water in the basement thing - luckily we were able to fix our problem, but whenever we have lots of rain I still get nervous.

I'm hopeful that we'll have good weather... we sailed last year Oct. 22 - Oct. 29 (the western itinerary) and were fortunate enough to have lovely weather with almost no rain the entire time. We'll be OK!

FROM THE PICTURES I SAW ONLINE IT LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD ALREADY BEGUN INSTALLATION OF THE JUMBOSCREEN THE FIRST DAY THERE AND I BET IT IS DONE ALREADY....i was wondering why they needed all the bins that had been loaded on the ship...i would not think there would be alot of trash but i guess i could be wrong...

we don't leave until thurs afternoon so we will still be around the next few days....i am just getting the DIStag stuff ready and pakcing all the little stuff....i cannot wait until i am on deck drinking the bonvoyage drinks! i need to get a couple more colors of glasses to make my collection complete!
