October 15, 2005 anyone?

What a great group of people it sounds like we have. I'm so glad to find out that others have kids close to the same age as my two girls 9 & 12. I thought they might be some of the oldest but it doesn't sound like it. I have no idea how I'm going to keep everybody straight though...since I have only just recently joined the boards. I am terrible at names. This was the first I heard about the Mardi gras Beads....what a great idea. Maybe we should do the same thing Friday evening at the Raddisson pool. I unfortunatly do not own any, and am not sure where to pick them up....probably any party store I would imagine. Yeah ....to MiasMom....another scrapbooker on Board!!!!

Hi everyone. We just received final confirmation yesterday that we are on booked on the 10/15 sailing. We go each year as part of a work trip for my husband, and are at the mercy of his company as to when we can go. All along we thought we would be on the 22nd, which we really wanted more, but hey, it's still a trip to the Caribbean.

We've done the Eastern the past two years, but because my little one was very little, decided not to go to St. Thomas or St. John. This year we will make it, and now I need to start researching how to get to St. John on our own. If anyone has some good tips to share, like what a ferry/boat costs to get from the dock at St. Thomas over to a nice beach on St. John, I'd appreciate it. I really like to have all my ducks in a row well before we sail, and obviously I don't have much planning time this year!

[Be afraid - SamR and I had the same idea]
Well, you know what they say, "Great minds..." ... Aww, who are we kidding! :rotfl:
So, I got that going for me - which is nice.
I smell a Caddyshack quote! :teeth: Remember this one: "You must've been something before electricity!" (I can say this to you since you are so much older than me. :rotfl2: )

23 Days until Embarkation!

Welcome Suzanne!
for info on ports of call, I have been going to Cruisecritic .com
and then to the forum boards area. On the bottom of the forum page is a forum for ports of call. I have gotten alot of good info there.

Brenda, I get more pm's from people wanting to know what it means :goodvibes

I got it from a website ...

DiMitch,

You can get the party beads at any party store or go to Wal-mart and they have them in there party section too. :cool1: I think the Dollar Tree store's also carry them.

Welcom Suz!

We are doing the DCL trip to St.John's just so we don't have to stress about getting back to the boat! ;) "Trunk Bay" Can't wait! :sunny:

22 days!! omg! I wish my Documents would come??? Has anyone else who uses Coleen from MouseEarsVacations heard anything at all????? :confused3

Jo,
thanks for the link. I found this one to be pretty amusing:

Feles mala! Cur cista non uteris? Stramentum novum in ea posui.

Translation: Bad kitty! Why don't you use the cat box? I put new litter in it.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Luckily our cat doesn't do that sort of thing but it sounded so funny in Latin that I couldn't resist. Thanks for the laugh!

Hi everyone.
Welcome to newbies. Good luck to all in Rita's path.
Here's a bit about ourselves.
We are Wayne 38, Karen 40 & Mathew 11. I am a Florist and have owned my own business for 15 years. I collect Monopoly games from around the world with about 150 in my collection. Karen is a Nursery Officer working for the local council looking after under 3's. She collects Steiff teddy bears which have taken over the bedroom. Mathew has just started high school and enjoys ICT, Music and Drama (he takes keyboard lessons). He collects & trades pins and loves Stitch. Pooh Bear has been travelling with us since Mathew was 1 year old.
We take as many vacations as possible, usually 6 weeks a year abroad with at least 3 of them in Florida. We sailed the Magic last Oct and the Wonder Oct before.
Our dream is to retire to Florida and Mathew's is to work for Disney.
We leave for our trip 2 weeks tomorrow. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :earboy2:

Yes...it was...one of the best movies of all times (IMHO). I can watch this move...over and over without getting tired of it. I'll share another of my favorites -

"Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!"

Appears 'DIS-Tag' registration will close on Friday, September 30th. It would be helpful if all would check their documents and verify your cabin assignment against the Yahoo site. Should someone be offered/purchase an upgrade at Port (someone could still get lucky), we will just adjust during out meet.

Am I doing it right? I got that important phone call from AAA - my docs are here!!! So of course I dropped everything and drove over to pick them up! We leave the Friday before at 10:20 am and arrive in Orlando at 6:00 pm - they book us at the Hyatt. I feel so official now!!!

FYI - A letter was included that says

"While the Fitness Center located in the spa will be unavailable during your sailing, the majority of the fitness equipment will be relocated to an alternate location, for your continued enjoyment.
The Vista Spa & Salon will remain open during this time and regular spa services will continue to be offered."

Greetings from Dallas, guys! Thanks so much for all the good thoughts and prayers. Keep thinking them... Rita is tracking farther to the east which is getting better and better for me and my family but not so good for those folks near the Texas-Louisiana border. Our house is boarded up and as safe as we could make it before leaving yesterday. We fortunately got out of Houston early enough that it "only" took us 9.5 hours to drive from Houston to Dallas (usually takes about 4.5-5 hours). After the first six hours of the trip, during which we only drove 67 miles, we didn't hold out much hope of making it that night, but then things opened up and we were able to sail the rest of the way. After some disastrous problems with hotel reservations made through a major online travel agency that shall remain nameless (here's a hint - begins with e and ends with xpedia) and were for a hotel that has been closed for a while, we are now comfortably ensconced in a swank hotel in Dallas with Will, our 17 month old, Pretty Kitty, our 12 year old domestic shorthair, and Mrs. G, our 9 year old calico Persian (yes, she's as pretty as she sounds).

Since I am choosing to view this time as an evacuee as a little vacation for now, I'll take this opportunity to tell you guys more about us. We are Jon, 32, me, 31 (turning 32 on the day we disembark) and Will, 17 months. We will also be joined on the cruise by my Gran, Ella Ruth ("Til"), 78. Jon is originally from Salt Lake City, I am originally from Asheville, NC, Will is originally from Pearland, Texas, and Gran is from Duncansville, Pennsylvania. Jon and I have been married for seven and a half years. We met in law school at Vanderbilt in 1996, dated 10 months before getting engaged, and were engaged 10 months before getting married two days after graduation. Jon works for a very large waste management company (you may guess from the description what the name of that company is) and I work for an electronic manufacturing services company that builds printed circuit boards. Jon is a sports fanatic. His real passions are basketball (Utah Jazz) and soccer. He'll watch anything, though. I love scrapbooking, internet shopping, and buying shoes and purses.

Will goes to a wonderful Montessori School and, although he is not fluent in French, he is fluent in Elmo. Unfortunately, I cannot get him excited about any Disney characters. His world revolves around Elmo. Too bad Elmo won't be on the cruise.

This trip will be Gran's first adventure outside the U.S. She is deathly afraid of water, but is very excited about the cruise. We think of Gran as Piglet. She's very sweet, kind, and a little innocent. There isn't a mean bone in her body. You will all love her! She makes really good fudge, too.

Paige,
so glad to know that you guys have made it to the relative safety of Dallas. We will continue to send our thoughts and prayers for your safety and the safety of those you hold close to the "powers that be."

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Brenda

Paige...thanks so much for keeping us posted. So glad to hear that you and your's are safe. :Pinkbounc

I hate spiders. I mean I can't stand them. They creep me out the way that few crawly critters do, and I am not a fan of bugs in general.

So I guess you don't want to go camping with us to see this little guy?

I took Katie to the potty when we first got there, and almost put her on the seat until I saw him. We went to another stall and I spent the rest of the weekend checking before I sat! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

I am originally from Asheville, NC,

My parents just moved to Hendersonville, NC in 2003, and we've been toAshville more than I like to think about. That is the biggest mall close to her and we lvoe to shop! We have driven to Charlotte and she wants to go to Atlanta next time for bigger malls. :)

I have loved reading all the bios! I suppose that I should post ours!

I am Kathy (33) and my husband is Jeff (34). We have been married for five years and we actually met at a local Role Playing game. We were playing characters in competing groups so my first thought was that I needed to kill that guy!

Anyway, to make a long story short, we met, started dating and got married on April 15th of 2000. Now, I know what you are probably thinking, ‘Who gets married on Tax Day?’ Well, the answer is a Wife who wants to make sure that her Husband, who was a Tax Accountant before he opened his own Computer Store, NEVER forgot their anniversary. *laugh* We took our Honeymoon to Disney World and added a three-day Disney Cruise and was hooked. This will be our fourth seven-day since then! Jeff closed the store after Katie was born and now works for a contractor at the Pentagon doing something with Networks. I don’t ask, and he doesn’t tell. Hehehehehe. 8--)

While we were dating, I met Jeff’s friend George and decided that he was a perfect match for my Best friend Jeni. We finally got them together and they actually got married the year before we did! We all live relatively near each other and have girls that are only five months apart (in my sig!), We see each other at least once a week and usually more and our girls act more like Sisters than friends sometimes! We all also plan to move to Colorado at some point (where our Husbands are from)! They will be on the crusie with us, as well as another set of friends who have a daughter four months older than Katie!

Let’s see….I was at Technical Writer before I had Katie. It took us about a year and Clomid to get her, but she was born in June of 2002 about six weeks earlier than she was supposed to. She spent two weeks in the NICU then came home to us and to see her now, you’d never have a clue. Katie was named after Scarlet O’Hara. Gone With the Wind has always been one of my favorite books and I always thought that if I had a girl, I would name her Katie Hamilton in honor of Scarlet O’Hara’s many married names (Katie Scarlet O’Hara Hamilton, Kennedy, Butler) Of course, I had second thoughts when I married a Butler, but we decided to go for it. So far, only three people have ever gotten her name when they’ve heard it without me telling them, so I hope that means it isn’t TOO cheesy! Hehehe. Anyway, we’ve been trying for number two for about two years and will be starting stronger infertility treatments when we get back from the Disney trip. I am excited about that, but looking forward to relaxing and enjoying myself (read that: Lots of Fru-fru drinks!) before coming back and getting into all that!

I guess that is about all!
