October 15, 2005 anyone?

Since we are coming up to the 90 day mark, do most cruisers choose the Disney excursions or can we simply book with other companies located at St. Thomas, and St. Maarten?? We definantely will choose to do the parasailing with our teens and they will do the excusion day at CC with the teen group. I am interested with the snorkel tour ST1 at Trunk Bay and possibly the island tour of St. Maarten. I notice that Michelle will be planing to rent a jeep... Can you please share me your thoughts on the excusion booking? Are they very very expensive??

At least we can cancel 48 hours prior to sail date but wonder if we should just reserve to hold a possible sport prior to researching the other companies. Looking forward to your comments!!
:flower:

We know have 10 staterooms of our friends and family on board this sailing :earsboy: :earsgirl:

You are correct we are renting a Jeep in St.Maarten, but in St.Thomas we decided to book the DCL trip to St.John for the beach day and snorkel. We just don't want to take any chances on missing the ship! ;) So I figure this way we can relax and enjoy ourselves. I know I will probably want to stay longer, but that is ok cause I still have Castaway Cay. :sunny: Plus we will have plenty of beach time in St.Maarten. I think the trip to St.John is costing us around $120 for the 3 of us and it is around 5 hours long.

So I am excited to book this on Sunday! I just wish my Spa treatment was listed. "Exotic Lime and Ginger salt glow and massage"..... :confused3

Good luck deciding what to book.

Michelle

Hi everyone.
The other day I said no worries we are about 190 miles north of London. I don't know if it has hit your news over there but a few houses have been raided today regarding the London bombs. At least 3 in Leeds and one in Dewsbury. Guess where we live? Dewsbury. The house is about 500 yards from ours. Just been past this evening Police shut road off and there are removal vans, no doubt stripping the insides out. about 5 years ago we looked around a house in the same street but decided to stay where we are.
DW works within half a mile of the houses in Leeds so she has had helicopter hovering over all day.
We have just had the hottest day of the year now 10.30 pm and still around 24C :sunny: . At least I am in my shop all day at a constant 10C ;). By the way as we are at least 5 hours in front of you lot over the pond can we book the excursions 5 hours before you? :rotfl2:
As I type it is on the news about another raid a few hundred yard further away.

For what it's worth... as far as excursions go we book through DCL just to be safe. We know that the cost is a bit higher, but we feel better knowing that DCL has checked out the operators. And, if you're on a DCL excursion and it runs late for some reason the ship will supposedly delay leaving port until the passengers make it back (that's what I've heard - no personal experience).

I can't wait until the weekend... harry potter and shore excursions!! Woo Hoo!!

Wayne,
your post is both scary and fascinating. If I were over there I think I'd be out on the sidewalk gawking at the entire spectacle as it unfolded, and hoping that there weren't going to be any stray bullets. Hope you and the family stay safe.

Dh and I are hosting a Harry Potter party on Friday night - about thirty adults with nothing better to do than read children's books...ain't life great?? ;)

OMG! What time should I be over? I can't wait until the book comes out!

I am kicking my husband and Daughter out of the house on Saturday so that I can get to reading. Theyare going to go watch trains (real hardship for both of them too!  :rotfl2: )

The first thing I plan to do is look through the book to see whodies (yes, I read the end of books first. I don't know why!) If it is Neville, I might just put the book on the bookshelf and go train watching with my Husband and Daughter!

In terms of making ressies, what's the best approach for a Palo reservation for two staterooms? My parents and I want to double our chances of getting our first choice. I know there is a strategy for this approach, but I can't recall where I read it. Should we both request our first choice, but indicate four adults instead of two? Or ... ?

when you make ressies for palo you first choose how many the ressie is for...if you plan to have all of you sitting together then reserve a table for 3-4 guests....then you highlight which day you want...then all the available times come up and you choose one...if you want to you could both make ressies and then cancel one of them if you get the times you want or spend 2 nights at palo...each room can make a ressie for one brunch, tea, and dinner....

i will also be at several harry potter parties on friday...i guess we will all have something to talk about...schmoogirl you better not ruin the end for us!!!

by the way...has anyone been reading the thread about wearing suit or not to formal night! it is about 10 pages long but there are alot of tongue in cheek statements and it is very funny!! Pass the popcorn....(read it...you'll understand!)

Read a few pages the other day. This subject always gets a good response.

Just heard on news 14 HP books been sold too early in Canada. They are offering J K Rowling's autograph for returned books.(You probably had this news yesterday, only just hit our news)

Hope everything goes well with Shuttle launch this evening. Will be watching it live.

Kathy,
You crack me up!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If you can make it by 7PM on Friday night then feel free to hang with us - might be a long road trip so you'd better leave now! :teeth:

I'm leaning towards Dumbledore having a date with the Grim Reaper this time around. Somehow I will restrain myself from reading ahead, but it's going to be hard. My nephew and I are going to stay up all night reading after we get our books from Borders at midnight. I read pretty fast - when book #5 came out I started reading about 1AM and was finished by 9AM - so I'm going to have to be careful not to give anything away while the nephie is reading.

BTW - dress for our potter party is casual, but if you feel the need to don your wizard-wear be our guest!! :teeth:

Oh I won't. Because I have the obsession with reading the end first, I am very careful not to say anything about it. I know that not everyone is as insane as me!

Sometimes though, I am the innocent victim of ruining the ending of stories. I remember in my youth, going to see La Bamba with some of my friends. Now, one of them was a large Lou Diamond Philips (who played Ritchie) fan and was REALLY looking forward to the movie. Well, we had our popcorn and drinks, found the best seats in the theater, and sat chit chatting while we waited for the movie to start. My friend was going on and on about how awesome she thought Lou Diamond Philips was going to do in the movie, and about how great Ritchie Valens music was. Me, being the sarcastic person that I am, piped up and said, "Yeah, it sure is going to suck when that plane crashes and they all die." My friend was shocked! She had no idea what happened at the end of the story and was so mad at me! I mean, come on! It was a true story! I thought everyone knew what happened to Ritchie Valens! She finally forgave me before we graduated from High School. :)

*****Warning! Next paragraph contains spoilers from the second season of the TV show 24. Don’t' read it if you don't want to know!*****

Actually, I did ruin a story once for some friends, but they didn't know it! Usually when we are going to see a movie, watch a show, or talking about something that we have already seen, I jokingly say something like, "Then the Nuclear bomb went off!" Well, my husband and I watch the show 24 on video with my best friend and her husband, because it is impossible to keep up with on TV, but I had seen most of the second season, so I knew what happened. Well, I made the "And then the Nuclear bomb is going to go off!" comment a few times. Imagine their surprise when a nuclear bomb really *DID* go off! :) We still laugh about it to this day! :)

Wow. This whole message has a lot to do with nothing, doesn't it? :) SORRY!

I think I agree with your thoughts on it being Dumbledore. I read once that we would learn more about why some dead people become ghosts and some just go away. What better way than for Dumbledore to show back up to support Harry as a Ghost, a la Obi Won Kanobi?

The other thing that I am really hoping is that the prophacy was about Neville and not Harry, and that Voldermort picked the wrong person. That would be the coolest plot twist ever in book seven! Besides, Harry has to live so that he and Ginny Weasley can have lots of flittle red headed grandbabies for Mrs. Weasley!

I'll probably have the book read by late Sunday night if everything goes according to my plans. Hopefully I'll get enough time on Saturday to read!

I'll bring the Bertie Bots Every Flavor Beans to the party!

Er...ummm...technically challenged, that's what I am. I tried to download the logo file that Kevin placed in the Yahoo file and I can't get it to open. My husband has the computer safeguarded from internet stuff that could damage the hard drive and I don't know if that's the problem or it it's something else. So I was wondering if someone could post a picture on this thread?

Thanks!

Brenda

PS - aren't those Bertie Botts Beans disgusting??? :teeth:

well according to the prophesy it could have been neville or harry but by choosing harry that cemented his place as voldemorts enemy...however, now that neville will have his own wand i think he will get stonger and i think he might also have a major role in defeating dumbledore in book 7...wouldn't that be ironic? I think Hagrid or Lupin might die in this one...and i think they will pair Harry with Luna Lovegood...also there is a thread on one of the harry potter websites that talks about how the bubble gum wrappers that neveille always gets from his mom when he visits is an anagram for some evil happenings at St. Mungos hospital....but i ramble...yes i am a harry potter nerd and i also will be up reading the 6th book all night...i normally work night shift but i took that night off specifically so i could read!!!

i took my hubby to mens wearhouse and bought him a nice suit...my husband was a little worried about being fitted for a suit (he doesn't own any) and remembered the episode of "Friends" where Joey had his friends go to his tailor for a fitting and the tailor proceeded to move "the family jewels" around while fitting their pants...anyone see that episode? it was so funny! We got my hubby a really nice black suit and on formal night he will look so nice! We don't have the money right now to invest in a tux but i think we might in a couple years bwcause they are inexpensive on ebay! :flower:

Hi Brenda...I was able to add 'my attempt' as a logo for our cruise as a signature. I can't figure out how to get it larger than a 'thumbnail'....but, you can open the below link you will see a larger image.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7562

Not too sure if I'm done 'messing around' with this. I might take the name on the left and curve it - adding my DIS name on the opposite side.

I welcome comments - concerns and derogatory remarks. OK - let's pass on the derogatory remarks...I, too, looked at the 11 pages of a 'discussion' on 'how to dress while on the cruise' - OUCH!!! :scared1:

I originally had this image in mind for a door sign. But, the more I look at it...appears it might look pretty good as a button (IMHO).

Should someone want this file - burnt CD via snail mail or as an attached file...I'd be happy to pass.

Take good care of you and yours, Kevin pirate:

That is great! It's 6:24 AM in St. Louis and I'm drinking coffee with lots of sugar trying to bone up for a potentially excruciating day at work (I'm taking tomorrow off so I can psyche myself up even more for HP6)...and I see your logo Kevin and it just made my day!! The tooth is what really does it... hee hee. :teeth:

My nephew tells me he is close to finishing his prototype for another possible logo, so I hope to add to the collection soon.

This will probbaly be all that you hear from me for a few days (group heaves collective sigh of relief.... :goodvibes ) between Potter Parties, reading the new book, and then traveling for work next week I am pressed for time.

Happy reading fellow Potter geeks and a good weekend to you all. Kevin, I have to say it once more...I love it!!

Brenda

PS - Paul, are you out there? Your cubbies are coming to town next weekend and DH and I are going to be there on Friday night to watch the Cardinals extend their lead in the Central Division. Can I get you a souvenier at all? They always sell a ton of Cubs stuff at Busch Stadium on these homestands against Chicago...let me know if you'd like something. :goodvibes

the best souvie you can send me is a cubs win... :earboy2: :earboy2:

seriously though.... it seems that the Cubs/Cards series have built up a reputation much like the Yank/RedSox...

The cubs sent down Corey Patterson last week... he has been completely horrible the last month or so... swinging at anything and everything.... they brought some AA studs to get a spark....

hope you enjoy the games... and as far as HP... Mollie (DW) has read all the rest and will prolly pick up HBP this weekend.. right now she's really big into the Lemony Snicket series of books... it has a whole following as big or bigger than HP... it's funny to watch the Lemony Snicket Movie... always get the "that wasn't in the book!"

we're going to the Strawberry Shortcake Convention in Cleveland, OH... her for the convention... me to watch the kids.... guess I'm taking the kids to something called Kidsfest.... They Might be Giants and Chubby Checker..... whooopeee... either that or catch a baseball game....

Later,
Paul

I am headed to the Luau! :flower: :cool1: :flower: Should be fun.

I am so excited I can use my Cousins computer to make all my reservations Sunday :cool1:

Good luck to all of you booking this weekend too......

:wizard:
