This is going to be a long post, and I'll copy it over to the yahoo group later tonight just to cover all the bases (I can't get into Yahoo Groups from my work computer).
To start...
DCL cannot block off space for us to seat 40+ people during open seating lunch periods. Now, if we all want to show up at the same time and see what happens we are welcome to do so, but there are no guarantees that we will be seated together (it's probably pretty unlikely, especially on an at-sea day).
So, the next option was to schedule a private reception of some sort...I had DCL fax over the menu / prices, but I think this will end up being cost prohibative.
For example... let's say we decide to have an afternoon tea break at Sessions. For $8.33 per person (includes a 19% service charge per person) we can have a selection of teas, scones w/ jams & preserves, cream cakes, assorted cookies, and assorted tea sandwiches. For 45 guests that works out to about $375. Want to add soda, juice, and water? Sure thing, for another $5.95 per person ($268 for the group).
It gets better... want to schedule a character visit? No problem...Captain Mickey or one of his buddies will stop by for 30 minutes if we want to cough up $550. The photographer is cheap... $85 for an hour, but that doesn't include the cost of printing and developing the actual photos.
So, I guess we're back to square one unless we all decide that we want to pay extra $$$ for the pleasure of getting together in a reserved space. Otherwise we take our chances at Parrot Cay or maybe up at Topsiders...there's more space up there to spread out in, isn't there?
Throw it open for discussion... we still have some time to figure out what we'd like to do. I admit to feeling some disappointment after talking with DCL this morning. I knew there'd be a cost involved, but sheeeesh...my wallet's not bottomless and neither is yours!

BTW - I have the entire group menu from DCL, so if someone wants to see it just give me your email address and I'll forward it over to you.
