October 15, 2005 anyone?

I have my last (fingers crossed) appointment with dentist next Wednesday
Good luck, Wayne! It looks like we're going under the knife/drill/needle/whatever on the same day. Unfortunately, this won't be the last appointment for me, but they should get easier after this one.

Oh, and I just updated the Lunch tally to include my family, so we're up to 37 now! (I'm slow, but I get there...)

Have a good weekend, everyone! :earsboy:

Here's a quick listing of what I was able to find on our floss about bdays and anniversarys....

Birthdays: SamR's DD - 10/18
Sara - 10/18
VaMouseMan's dad - 10/17
Oybolshoi - 10/17
VaMouseMan - 10/20

Anniversarys: VaMouseMan parents - 10/20

If I need to add anyone else to the list let me know. I'm going to talk to a DCL guest specialist on Monday (I hope) to explore our options.

Nancy and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on 10/19. hopefully the additional 'special events' will assist in getting some extra favors.

My birthday (won't disclose which one) is on the 22nd. It will be sad to celebrate it by disembarking and flying all day...

Just have to tell you guys about my Saturday. Our children Tony (24), Kristin (21) and their significant others Stacy and Jesse threw us the most wonderful surprise 25th Anniversary Party!!! It was at my BIL and SIL's house. They invited over 50 people. DH was in on it because they needed him to get a lot of info! :flower:

Now everything is falling in line. You know, all the conversations about the wedding and the wedding party. All the questions about the reception. It was all for a trivia game we played. Geeez and here I thought Chuck was being emotional and romantic about our 25th. :rotfl:

Tony manages a restaurant in Milwaukee and the owner and her son donated all the food!! They had a huge sheet cake (of which I had none since I gave up sweets completely last December) that sits here now because we couldn't eat it all. Anyone want cake??

Today we have to go back and clean up since we partied until way after midnight in a neighborhood that strictly sticks to their "no parties after 11:00" rule. :teeth:

Just wanted to share with you.

Nancy and Chuck :wave2:

Oh yeah....as you can see I FINALLY got our stateroom magnet posted on my signature line. Took me two days to do it.

You Like????

What a great surprise for you! If I lived closer I'd be all over your offer of cake even though I'm supposed to be on a diet! :teeth:

So far we have six birthdays and two wedding anniversaries to celebrate at our DISlunch. I'm going to ask DCL how much it would cost to have a group photo...hopefully it won't be too bad. Maybe they can ask Captain Mickey to stop by - wouldn't that be a hoot?

Edited to add: there are now 41 people who have said they'll come to lunch on October 16th!! That's fantastic!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I ran this past a couple of our friends here on this board and they both thought it was a fun idea.
:flower:

Our Graphic Designer at work agreed to make a T-Shirt transfer for all of us going to the meet on Sunday. She will use my stateroom magnet (shown below) to make the transfers. They are about 3 inches in diameter. She will put everyone's first name in place of the cntkg1. At first we were going to put our screen names on but some are kind of long and probably wouldn't fit.
:teeth:

She can fit 6 mickey's on one transfer sheet and will charge us $5.00 per sheet for her time and work. I will supply the transfer paper. Chuck and I made some up for the sailaway party and put them on a cheap white t-shirt (white works best) that cost us about $4.00. I suggest getting more than one of each name just in case you mess up when you iron them on. I ruined 2 shirts because I ironed too long. Good thing they were only $4.00!! :goodvibes

If you like this idea and want to participate you can email me at cntkg1@aol.com. Please put "T-shirts" in the subject line because I don't usually open mail from screen names I don't recognize. (It bit me in the butt one time). Just let me know the names you want and how many of each name. Designer said she will give us a break in the price if the quantities are numerous. She is leaving on medical leave soon and will do this before she leaves. Oh yeah, I will need your work or home address to send the transfers to.

Maybe we get DCL to take a group picture of us with our shirts on!! :Pinkbounc

Any suggestions are welcome!!

Hope to hear from you soon. :wave2:

Nancy

txaggie94gigem, I am so glad that your son's sugery went well and that he's doing good. When your child is involved it can be pretty scary. So, many thankful prayers coming your way. :)

Nancy, your surprise party sounds lovely. Your t-shirt idea sounds good, too. I'll e-mail you soon on what/how many we want.

Well, we are off to drive our 2 oldest kids to camp.

"Happy Father's day" to all you dad's out there! :)

we are now planning what we want to do on each island...i read a thread that talked about getting guavaberry (?) rum in St. Maaarten...has anyone ever bought this and know where to buy it?

I'm glad your little one's surgery went well!

We have been to St. Martin twice now, and the Guavaberry is not to be missed! Just YUM!

There is one store that sells it, and it is on the main drag as I recall. You won't have trouble finding it. They have samples, and you can buy a Guavaberry Colada to have while you are walking on the town if you want to. Very yummy stuff.

We always buy a bottle and make the coladas at home too. As a matter of fact, we busted the bottle out a couple of weeks ago to get a little closer to finishing it off since we'll be getting another one in October! :)

Their other drinks are also very good!

The anniversary of your 21st Birthday, isn't it?

I hope you all had a great Father's day weekend. We did! :goodvibes Weather is fabulous around here, but HOT weather is heading our way! :sunny: 96 by the weekend! That is ok cause we are going on a Float trip with the family this weekend. 50 of us!!!!! :cool1:

I can't wait to hear what DCL says about our meet!!

I am paying our cruise off on Friday!!! woo hoo! :rotfl:

Bye :wave2:

This is going to be a long post, and I'll copy it over to the yahoo group later tonight just to cover all the bases (I can't get into Yahoo Groups from my work computer).

To start... DCL cannot block off space for us to seat 40+ people during open seating lunch periods. Now, if we all want to show up at the same time and see what happens we are welcome to do so, but there are no guarantees that we will be seated together (it's probably pretty unlikely, especially on an at-sea day).

So, the next option was to schedule a private reception of some sort...I had DCL fax over the menu / prices, but I think this will end up being cost prohibative.

For example... let's say we decide to have an afternoon tea break at Sessions. For $8.33 per person (includes a 19% service charge per person) we can have a selection of teas, scones w/ jams & preserves, cream cakes, assorted cookies, and assorted tea sandwiches. For 45 guests that works out to about $375. Want to add soda, juice, and water? Sure thing, for another $5.95 per person ($268 for the group).

It gets better... want to schedule a character visit? No problem...Captain Mickey or one of his buddies will stop by for 30 minutes if we want to cough up $550. The photographer is cheap... $85 for an hour, but that doesn't include the cost of printing and developing the actual photos.

So, I guess we're back to square one unless we all decide that we want to pay extra $$$ for the pleasure of getting together in a reserved space. Otherwise we take our chances at Parrot Cay or maybe up at Topsiders...there's more space up there to spread out in, isn't there?

Throw it open for discussion... we still have some time to figure out what we'd like to do. I admit to feeling some disappointment after talking with DCL this morning. I knew there'd be a cost involved, but sheeeesh...my wallet's not bottomless and neither is yours!

Brenda :sad2:

BTW - I have the entire group menu from DCL, so if someone wants to see it just give me your email address and I'll forward it over to you.

My husband is a mad genius! His idea is this:

Everyone order appetizers from room service and then bring it all up to Deck 10 for an at-sea picnic - he said we can always get drinks from the beverage station or a nearby bar for those of an alcoholic bent.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for everyone to chew on. Room service is free, after all. :teeth:

I should have known it would cost money!! :confused3 Well the idea of meeting on Deck 10 is good.
Or we could meet at Parrot Cay at 11 and say we have 40 please!! :rotfl: Ya never know??? It is a pretty big restaurant and if we get the right at the time they open for Lunch then we may be ok?

What do the rest of you think???? :confused3

I just hope we can figure out something?

We need Idea's??????

Thanks Brenda for checking on that! WOW Mickey is expensive! ::MickeyMo We don't want him there that bad!! I will bring my camera and have someone take the picture of our group...Much cheaper... :rotfl:

how many people will fit out on Deck 7's secret sun deck???

as for Mickey, he can always be photoshopped in ;)

maybe I'll start a new thread asking chances of getting seats at PC for 40...

BTW: wow to the Cards... they're now 9.5 games ahead of anybody else (Cubs) in the NL Central....

Later,
Paul

P.S. who knows, maybe the water skis behind the ship may be the best bet....

oh that's right, there's a charge for that too... :rolleyes1

We'll go with the flow, but I sure do like Mr. Brenda's idea!!

This is a great idea! Actually, you could expand on that and do it during lunch so everyone could hit Topsiders on the way up to Deck 10. I like Mickey, but just YIKES to the cost of having him around for 1/2 hour. :)

That is a GREAT idea! I don't remember, but I think that if people are willing to stand or sit on the deck that there would be enough room for that many people.

I would LOVE it if you posted that question to the regular board. That would crack me up! Do it! Do it! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
