October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

davidls ~ a few posts back, kevin posted his email address when you can email him and he'll send you the "invite" to the Yahoo group that is set up for us Cruisapaloozans. :thumbsup2

And NO, you're neither dumb nor an idiot! :) :) :)

Although I'm not playing, I read some good dis tag gifts would be stuff representing your hometown/state. For example, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. A good gift from me could be Ghirardelli chocolate, a cable car magnet, etc...

On a different topic, I was shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond for regular stuff when I passed the photo frame section. Saw in the clearance section a beautiful 8 x 10 mat frame and immediately bought it so as to bring the mat part to have autographed on the cruise! I am obsessed ~ help!

I'm going to be DEPRESSED when all this is over and I have NOTHING to plan :sad1: :sad1:

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Almost less than 60 days :dance3:

Here's Kevin's prior post w/his email address:

Hope this finds all well.

lookee here - lookee here....we have some now members....WELCOME!!!

Since we have some new friends and it's been a while since this subject has been brought up...here is some information on our 'off Dis web site'...if you've not joined...please look for the link at the end of this post.

On our past cruise, we grew to ~30 families participating on a DIS cruise thread. I’ve got some great memories as we had a blast!!! This group really needed a place to share data that The-DIS does not offer. We used Yahoo Groups and it worked wonderfully.
For our 07 cruise, I set one up through Yahoo Groups as a ‘closed site’ – i.e., a Moderator needs to ‘invite’ someone to participate. It would be my personal preference in keeping this a ‘closed site’. However, if ‘our group’ prefers, I can change this to an ‘open site’ allowing any/all with an internet connection to view the information we have added. I don’t want to dwell on the ‘horrors in the world’...just want to keep ‘our information’ as secure as we can – rant off.

This is an ‘off-DIS’ web site for us to share information (files – photos – polls – database – links...etc). It’s an amazing organizing tool that offers us free data storage (can’t get much better than that). Of course...they will offer links and banners (I call them Internet commercials) to ‘suggest’ you purchase goods/services from one of their vendors. However, you are under no obligation to review or purchase ANYTHING.

Should you want an invite to this site....click on the bleow link and include the e-mail address you want the invite to

kevin.smith@appl.ge.com;d_Isigny@msn.com

You can always send me a PM, but this may take longer for me to get your request.

Finally....this site is not intended to replace The-DIS Cruise Thread...at all. It’s my hopes we can share information with each other...making our cruise and vacation planning easier.

I think that's Castaway Cay, right?

Congrats to Heather - AKA....CrazyZeus1....Castaway Cay is correct - GOLD STAR:thumbsup2

Now - for the bonus question - what was the name of the island before it was purchased by Disney can renamed to Castaway Cay? Let's see who(m) has done their home work....:rolleyes1

Just a quick reminder to watch Fat March on ABC 9/8C.

Hi Everyone! My name is Lisa and we are going on our first cruise together (I've been on 3 other ones, but no one else has been at all)...We will be on the 10/13/07-10/20/07 Magic cruise & can't wait..."We" includes myself, my DH, our 13 yo DS, 9 yo DD, my sister in law, and my husband's best friend & his 14 yo DD (7 of us total):yay: . We just booked the cruise last month (we were going to go to Disney, but I convinced my DH that there is PLENTY to do on a cruise, and he will not be bored, so WOO-HOO, here we come! I can't wait... Someone at my work introduced me to Dis-Boards, and although this is my first posting, I have been getting my toes wet by reading some of the posts & trying to find out as much as I can about DCL. We loved DW (been 1x, back in 2002), so I figured we would love DCL, especially since they have the separate programs designed just for the kids, and it looks/sounds like it's all day/night, so they won't be bored with only a few things to choose from..Any helpful tips to help us enjoy our first family cruise would be greatly appreciated! This is the first time I've ever participated in a discussion board (I work on a computer all day at work, so I don't usually go online at home), so please be patient with my postings, if I offend or annoy anyone with my questions, I'm sorry in advance! Thanks, Lisa

Welcome, Lisa!

I'm certain I speak for everyone when I say there is no chance you'll annoy anyone around here with your questions. That's what the boards are for! :thumbsup2

Guess: OK while we are playing guessing games I found this picture on the board. Can you guess where it is? They are rumored to serve left over desserts from the DCL restaurants gratis.

Welcome, Lisa! Glad you are joining us! This is my family's first cruise, too, but hopefully not the last! :thumbsup2

Your 9 year old DD is going to have a blast - we have a big group of 8-11 year old girls who have been emailing back and forth for months, getting to know each other. If you send me a private message with your email and daughter's name, I would be happy to get her in the loop.

(If you don't know how to private message someone, go to the top of the page on the right hand side where it says your screen name and you can click on the private message. Check out the left hand side and you can send me a message!)

Also, don't be overwhelmed by the amount of organized people on this cruise - some of us aren't quite as organized!! (We still have to expedite passports! In fact, if we don't get all our paperwork on time, we may be taking a trip to the Windy City to the Passport Agency to get one in person when you need to leave the country within 2 weeks! Long story with my husband losing his citizenship papers and having to file for those, first!) Anyway, I have nothing packed, no Excel spreadsheets for activities, and a whole lotta envy when I read postings by Bev and others. :scared1:

I think we will all have a blast together - I can't believe it is just 2 months away. We do need to start thinking of a place to meet, though!! Come on you experienced cruisers - help us newbies out by picking a time and fun place to meet.

Lisa, some of us are planning on wearing fun Mardi Gras beads on embarkation day to signify that we are Cruise-A-Paloozers!

Yes, Bev & Robin that was definetly Cove Cafe! Mmmm, I'm thinking of mocachinos (sp?) right now. :thumbsup2

welcome lisa & family/friends! You should definetly join your daughter with our group of 8-11 year olds. Also, I have a DS who is 13 & DN(niece) who is cruising with us & she's 14. :goodvibes

I agree with margaritaqueen, we should start thinking about our cruise meet and maybe take a vote on it or something. :)

What exactly do we "do" at the cruise meet? Just say hi, that sort of thing? I've never done one of these before, so I want to make sure it's not assumed that we all dress like hula dancers or something & I didn't know :)

Welcome Lisa,

Glad you are joining us. I too would mention I have an 'almost 13' DS, but he would just roll his eyes and say "MOM!"

Welcome, Lisa!

DH, DS & I are cruise virgins so we're looking forward to our 1st cruise, too:)

I like the idea of meeting, too...if not just to say hello and put faces to the names that we've seen here! Maybe we can meet after the boat drill in the secret Deck 7 outside area...from what I've read, it's not crowded so it should be easy to spot one another.

or we can come up with a secret handshake :thumbsup2

Any and all suggestions are welcome!
