October 13, 2012--Magical Galveston Cruise!!!

I can't believe it's October already! 12 more days!

I finally finished all my fish extender stuff over the weekend. Now I just need to work on DH's pirate costume. pirate:

Thanks for the link to the Navigators. I love you over-planner enablers! :rotfl:

I know!! :dance3: 9 more work days!! :yay:

Thanks for the link to the Navigators. I love you over-planner enablers! :rotfl:

I try my best to drag ya'll along with me. :rotfl2:

All my FE stuff is ready, just some assembly required. :thumbsup2 I'm waiting on Mum to get here with her contribution and we'll finish them up. ;)

Some of the reports from last weeks sailings are saying the entertainment was pretty good, which I was skeptical about when I saw the acts on the navigators, so hopefully they will turn out to be fun. :upsidedow

I've printed out my packing lists today as well as scoured the navigators to decide which tasting sessions I think we'd like to do. I wonder if there are meetings for obsessive overplanners? :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I would definitely attend those! I'll probably also need a post-cruise support group.

I can't believe we are getting so close. I am still trying to get a car service lined up. We fly in a day early and are staying in Galveston. I might do Disney transfers on the way back to the airport. Getting my FE stuff together. Sept. was an incredibly busy month for us. It's now crunch time to get all my goodies made. I've got my supplies but I need to block out some time. Oh, plus I am starting to make lists and pack. Aghhh! It'll be here before we know it. :thumbsup2

I was reading :coffee: another thread, that was talking about medical forms that you fill out. Is that something I find on the DCL website for do we get them at the port.
:crazy2: Dena

Scott and I stayed in Galveston at the Hilton a couple of weekends ago. We had a great time down on the island, one of those times when you scratch your head and wonder why you don't do it more often!! :confused3 If you need any help/info for your brief time down there, just ask!!

Dena - It's a really simple form, they have stations where you fill them out right before you check in at the port (or at least they do in FL). Basically saying you haven't had any sickness in the past 48 hours. :faint: Takes about 2 mins to fill in. :thumbsup2

We got a decent rate at the Holiday Inn in Galveston and they have a free shuttle to the cruise terminal. :) If we have time we might hit up the train, or maritime museum. Both hubby and my 5 yr old love anything trains or boat related.

If you are standing at the door of the train museum, you can literally turn your head right and see the cruise terminals. :cool1: All of that area is great to just walk around. The Strand has some interesting shops, and some good little places to stop and get a snack/meal. Everything on Galveston is easy to navigate to. :thumbsup2

I'm very excited that my Mum arrives from the UK tomorrow. ::yes::

11 more days!! :cheer2:

Hi, everyone,

yes, they didn't say which cabins, on deck 6, but sounded like only a few.

Is anyone else up on Deck 7? We are close to aft elevators.

I loved all the positive comments about staff, captain, food, etc!

I know there are 3 cabins on the FE list on Deck 7. :goodvibes Overall it seems like everyone gave it a good review. ::yes:: It will be interesting to hear what those coming off the current sailing from this past Sat thought (plus there are several that are coming off a back-to-back from the 9/22 sailing). :listen:

This past Saturday, they dealt with a) passengers disembarking, b) Carnival Triumph in port as well and c) rain! We may get some different views on the boarding process. :upsidedow

Can someone please help and tell me about the Captains Gala? I have Palo that night and don't want to miss out on anything. Thanks

Captain's Gala is also formal night. There is a reception in the main atrium with (watered down) free cocktails. You could still attend that and then go to Palo. On our last cruise we did Remy on formal night. You can search the menus to see what you are missing but Palo is yummy, I wouldn't worry about what menu you will miss in the MDR. :)

Thanks! We didn't sign up for FE, so I'll have to try to make the Meet-up (at 3 PM?) to say "hi" to everyone, and see if any of our group could be my neighbors on deck 7.

I bet you are SO EXCITED that your Mum is arriving today. Enjoy !!

Yes, meet up at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. :thumbsup2 I know how hard it is to put vacation "on hold" and meet, but for anyone that can make it, it would be great to put names to faces. :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to Mum getting here not only does it mean that our cruise is even closer, but it also means some goodies (non waistline friendly) :cake: will be arriving! :jumping1:
