October 13, 2012--Magical Galveston Cruise!!!

Thanks Jenny! I know the price was just so right to go out of Galveston. We went on the Fantasy this past June, which turned into a few days in WDW. I cannot drive all the way to Port Canaveral and not visit the parks. Which can be an unbelievable expense, LOL. But I just love the parks! This way I have no temptations. Have you been on the Fantasy? My kids are asking if the Magic has all the same things. They've been on the Magic once but don't really remember it I guess. I hope it's holding up. It had a few signs of wear and tear the last time. I still think they will have just as much fine minus putt putt and the detective game.

I live in Lafayette! So does your husband speak french?? My kids are in french immersion so they speak french, along with my husband. I'm the only one not bilingual in the house. That could be dangerous.

That's a bummer about Halloween. How cool that would be if they could trick or treat on board.

I guess I will just go to a small beach on Costa Maya. Really the kids prefer staying on board but they do like snorkeling. I did check out the link you sent and it was helpful. I hope the snorkeling is not a disappointment on the Fury Catamarin trip. Have you done that one?

Thanks for the invite to join y'all in the Promenade. I will be with a girlfriend and her son. No hubbies. I'm sad about that, but I think he's ok with it! I wear him out with Disney.

Thanks again for the help. You are truly Disney qualified.

We were on the Magic in Nov 2010 & the Fantasy in April this year. I think it's hard to compare the two. :upsidedow The Fantasy is beautiful, shiny and new compared to the Magic. I loved the adult areas on the Fantasy as well. The Magic is smaller and easier to find your way around IMO. I think the dining rooms don't seem as hectic on the Magic. I don't have kids, but I would think the kids clubs on the Fantasy would be a real step above the Magic when you think about how kids stuff has evolved in the past 12 years! I bet they will still have a great time though - what's not to love about sailing with Mickey! :flower3:

Hubby is from Lake Arthur but he lived in Lafayette for a while and graduated from Lafayette high. He doesn't speak french, his grandparents did, but his parents didn't want to kids to grow up "back woods". :rotfl: I still meet family members of his and can't understand one word!

Haven't done the Fury Catamaran, we've been to Cozumel once, and every excursion that was outdoors got cancelled because of awful weather. Of course the two times we've tried to book stuff Castaway Cay it was cancelled because of bad weather too, so we are obviously jinxed!! :lmao:

Completely off topic :offtopic: but I left my cell phone at work by mistake and it's too far to go back and get it. I can't believe how much I use that thing! I already miss it and it's only been an hour!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Jenny- I did that last week, left phone at home. I was lost without it. It's amazing how many things you use your phone for anything.

Dena :cool1: Thanks yeah my daughter checked out Petsmart and did not like it Reagan is an English Springer Spaniel and she should be a ranch dog with all the energy she has but Petsmart does not have an outdoor area. I told her about Bayport and she is checking that out today. Thanks again hopefully it will work for her. :thumbsup2

HEY! We are from Katy, as well ('new' Katy, so Harris Co. part. Cy-Fair school district). We have a 7 1/2 year old son and a 'turning 10 on the cruise' daughter that plans to spend a lot of time in the clubs - or that is what they said last time we watched a show about the ships.

As for dog places, is your daughter in Katy? We leave our poodle with the vet, but we have used Rover Oaks Pet Resort before. It is very nice! Expensive, but nice. It is a couple blocks from Katy Mills Mall. They have a doggie day care as well as boarding, so lots of play areas for energy burning!

I hope to make the meet, but am afraid of being so excited that I am going to forget. I can sooo see myself sitting in muster drill and thinking "Grrrrrrr!!! I knew I was supposed to be somewher earlier!" That is kind of how my brain works lately. :(

21 days and kids STILL have no clue! I may actually burst before its time to leave!!!:banana::cool1::cool1::yay::yay::

Deanna - no, not on the Magic, but they do on the Dream & Fantasy.

We had a great time watching the Magic come in and leave yesterday! :). Plus we got to meet Dena and her DH so we already had mini cruise meet! LOL

We walked down to the cruise terminal, everything seemed to be going smoothly. You just pull up to the Terminal 2 building and drop off your luggage with a porter. They then take it immediately into the building for screening and loading. The entrance for passengers is right beside it. They had DCL banners and several people there to help with any questions etc. Once inside it looked like you went straight through security, but I couldn't see anything beyond that! LOL

The shuttles from the port parking drop right off in front too. There are a few benches outside to sit if you are waiting for the rest of your party and they are in the shade.

The Magic looked beautiful yesterday. I can't wait until it's our turn! :)

Had fun :wave2:greeting the Magic yesterday morning when she came in and then seeing her off. Met up with Jenny and DH. Like Jenny can't wait till it's our turn.:hyper:

So upset :furious: my Saturday morning went like this.....I had planned to go welcome Magic as it sailed into Galveston...instead I had received a card in the mail from my senors high school to be there at 8am to meet with the counselor about graduation and college stuff...I get up at 6am jump in the shower all the while watching Galveston Webcam at 7:50am I drive out to the school and thought were the heck is everyone only 4 cars in the parking lot :confused3 I thought maybe it is being held at another location I call my DH to ask and he tells me it is not until the 29th :( so upset I could have been in Galveston in person instead of an empty high school parking lot. I need a vacation..:goodvibes Thanks for posting pictures and giving me the bit of "Magic" I need to make it thru another week.

Thanks for the posting the pictures. I'm really excited. Still waiting on my room assignment! Lots of rooms available it seems.

Aww...I don't know what's more annoying, the fact that you missed getting to Galveston, or that you have to do it all over again this weekend!! :faint:

Thanks for the posting the pictures. I'm really excited. Still waiting on my room assignment! Lots of rooms available it seems.
They should be coming out with your room assignment really soon! :goodvibes I hope it's a good location for you. :thumbsup2

Yes, under the 20 day mark today! :cool1:

Thanks for the report and pictures! The ship looks great; it must be so exciting to see it in person. Can't wait! :goodvibes

I had an anxiety dream over the weekend that we were at the airport, waiting to board our flight, when I realized we didn't pack anything. All the lists I made were useless! :faint:

:rotfl2: That's funny! AND it sounds like something I would dream about!! I always have anxiety dreams right before we leave for a big trip. I guess the neurotic side of me fighting to get out! :lmao:

This link was on a local news site showing the sail away. Looks to be fellow DISers on there as they are wearing the tshirt logo that was designed by someone on the DISign boards. :thumbsup2 I did post the link to their cruise meet thread - hopefully the video will still be able to be viewed by the time they get back.
