He has to work a little harder to stay caught up but he manages with minimal complaint:goodvibes

Have a great day all,
Gina

Thanks Gina! I feel sure their teachers will help them out with catch up work. Maybe you can give me some advice on how you get your DS to only do "minimal complaining":confused3

Maybe the boys would like to email each other prior to the cruise....PM me and let me know and I will give you their email addresses.....

Everyone have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving!

Hello all!!! Going up to 72 today, calling for snow showers tomorrow! YIKES! Can you say Severe Storm Warning? Going to be a rough night!

Sandy, I am so sorry for your loss. I know EXACTLY what you are going through. When my Grandmother passed away, several years ago, it was the 21st of December. We had her funeral on Christmas Eve. It is very difficult for everyone.

DMTwins, I would NOT worry about pulling your kids out of school! We do! The first time they were in 2nd and 4th, then 4th and 6th, now they will be 6th and 8th! When Colton was in 6th, his teachers had him to do a poster board and report on the ruins we went to see in Costa Maya. He was even able to share it with his Math class since we learned the ancient math! Of course, there was a few books that were brought with us, and a few papers that had to be finished, but we did it! Technically, they get one day of make up for every day they miss, so "really" the work wouldn't be due until the end of the next week, but I was really trying to keep them on task and trying not to make extra work for the teachers. Stop worrying and ENJOY this family time!

MommyRom! Congrats on the villa! You'll be able to relax and enjoy!

Kristin, thank you for your offer! I'll talk to Steve and see what he would want to do. Is it just a room only discount then? You don't have to use your points?

Leaving for my parent's tomorrow. Not sure if I'll be on at all this weekend! Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!!!

Mommyrom,

you are so LUCKY, that sounds incredible. I remember when we took the SSR tour of the Grand villa, our jaws dropped, enjoy your decision and have a nice jacuzzi while you are there.

Gina:cool1:

Funny you mention the jacuzzi! I am THERE!!!!! Believe it or not, that is the single feature that I felt sold me on buying into DVC when we were there in August...The thought at closing those shutters for Mommy time was the clincher for me! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Yes, it is a room only discount but as long as we are staying there and it is open we can book it now for you they only require a cc to secure and I think you only get charged if you cancel 72 hours or so prior they would tell us when we book it we would have to call together. But got the deal for our Florida friends in the summer and it was a great savings. I want to say some where around two hundred a night not sure I think it depends upon the time of the year.. Let me know...Kristin

Oh and no I would not have to use my points........

That' funny, in 6 trips with DVC, I have NEVER once gotten in the tub LOL! My kids took a bath in their swimsuits on our first trip, but it's never been touched any other time.

Oh gosh you have got to try it out. DO not get me wrong the "germ" freak in me comes out and I throughly clean and Lysol it down before the kids or I get into it....
The kids have been putting up Christmas Decorations all afternoon. DH is going to wonder what happened to the Thanksgiving decorations. The kids came off the bus sooooo excited so we have lights everything up on the inside and wreaths on all of the windows. The neighbors are going to wonder what has happened to us. LOL!!!!!!! We have never put the Christmas stuff this early...

Off to watch Oprah with the kids today Hannah Montana is on and American Girl.........

Happy Thanksgiving to my American Friends!!!!

We woke up to a dusting of snow and freezing rain this morning. YUCK. Last year we didn't see snow until the New Year. The kids were so excited to see it. Heres to starting the day 10 minutes earlier to get all the snow gear on, WHEW.

Have a great day.

Gina

I have a question, my dh is American, he holds an US passport but lives in Canada. I and my children are Canadian. So, when we do the customs thingy in the Theatre, will my dh be called with US roll call, and me and the kidlets with the non-US?? Or will they keep us together? Also, from what I have read when you preboard, you line up in US and non-US line-ups, again how will this work?

Any ideas?

TIA
Gina

IT'S A SNOW DAY HERE IN STOUFFVILLE!

I decided to not leave the house this morning, due to the snow. My DW made it to work early this morning and called me to say stay home. I don't have to be told twice.
Looking out the kitchen window we have about 3 or 4" already with more coming down.
Gina, it's funny how were only about 25mins north of you and were getting lots of snow. I guess its one of the benfits for you living close to the lake. I also noticed that your DS will be in grade 5 next year for the cruise. The family joining us from Bowmanville also have a son the same age (1 year older I think). It would be good for the boys to hook up.
Anyway I'm going to use this snow day for a great opportunity to catch up on some DIS reading and coffee drinking:surfweb:
But before my DW gets home, I need to make sure I have got the snwblower out of the garage. Cleaned the driveway and make it look like I accomplished some chores around the house.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends south of the border!

Alex

From what I remember, it wasn't that big of a deal. Normally they will never spilt up families. I would say you stick together. Being Canadian was a great thing. It got us through many thhings faster. I did find when they refered to non-US citizens. They were mainly looking Europeans, Aussie's and other countries from across the ocean. In today's world, travelling as a Canadian is a good thing! I wouldn't concern yourself with it. Everything really does go smooth. The only thing I don't like is Pearson Airport. I find that place to be a horrible experience. That's why, when possible we fly from Buffalo.

Enjoy the snow

Hope everyone had a GREAT holiday.....

Off to watch some T.V. ~~~Wished I had not eaten soo much.........
