Welcome to the Williams family. I have done as little as candy, for each person in the room, that is only found in Canada and last cruise I did a handmade ornament, one per family, for my FE group. It all depends. I enjoy doing the FE as it makes you visit all areas of the ship.

We got our WBTA gty room assignment when we got our documents about three weeks out.

Welcome to the newest family to join our cruise! I am Stephanie, DH=Peter, DD=Kayla, who will be 7 at the time of the cruise. It's my 13th DCL, DH 11th, and DD 8th. We live about 20 minutes from WDW.

I have a few pictures of what I did for our FE for August 2010, in my signature. For our Dec 2010 cruise, I made a CD of Christmas steel drum music and candy and small trinkets for the kids. I am planning on making our FE gifts this cruise as we have it planned so far out...starting now :-)

Off to enjoy a family day since we are out of school for the day, thankfully planned, and not due to weather.

Thanks for the warm welcome Kathy. We are me Dave, DW Julie, DS12 Jaxson, DS11 Peyton, and DD11 Paige.

And thanks for all the great information on the FE. So the post below says you do it just once for each family on the trip is that correct? And when would we find out who and how many will be doing the FE's? The more I read about it the more I'm starting to get excited.

Howdy Dave, Ok Shell (woogal) is putting together a cruis emates list of everyone on this cruise. On that list she will mark down if your particiapting in the FE. Everyone will receive copies of the list and she will update and resend as time goe son and mor epeople join us.
So you can kinda keep track by tha tlist.
Also , usually 30 to 45 days prior someone sends out a separate list to everyone with names, ages and sex of the kids in each cabin and cabin number. Then its up to you to keep track of that list.
Some give 1 gift per family others something different for kids than the adults, thats why we like to know ages and sex fo the kids.

We usually have a cut off date so if last minute people want to join in. we also tell them if they want to participate they can but being so late they may not receive alot of stuff. Since people already have planned their gifts.
Those who are giving candy usually have a few extra peices they can give them so they can have fun to.

Yes its only one gift per family during the cruise.I dont advise the last evening as people bring in and pack their FE's.

Ok now to get on Shell's list is important to all new people or people who havnt done it yet. The list will have information about meets too.
Shell may send you a PM or better yet is for you to send her a PM, Send to woogal.

Include as much fo the following info you can:
photo
city and state your from
posting name
first names of everyone and kids ages
cabin number
dinner time
how many cruises you've been on
any special celebrations on board for you
If you want to do the FE exchange
email address

Then you will be on the list and receive the list. I fyou dotn contact her you wont receive the list.
She will send it by e-mail, NEVER post it on the boards. Its private for those on this cruise.

I sure hope I get mine before so I can do fe I want my daughter to experience it all

Kiki, no worries, just make sure Shell knows you want to do the FE. Lots of us wont have our cabin numbers until 30 to 45 days prior to the cruise. As soon as you get it, tell Shell.
She always sends out a final list for FE info just before the cruise so everyone will have your room number. Your not alone about not having a room number

Right now its just important for her to know your going to do it do people can keep track of how many. Room numbers will come later for many.:thumbsup2

In fact sometimes a person may upgrade at the port and get a new cabin number. So when the cruise gets closer we will ask one person to keep track of anyone who changes at the port,
It will be up to the person who upgrades to inform this person immediately by calling the room and leave a message or in person. By 5 p.m. that day.
Then the keeper of the changes will post any changes on their door the first 24 hours so people can check before delivering their gifts.
That way nobody gets left out, even if they move at the last minute.
We have it all covered :cheer2:

It's a bit chilly in the Orlando area this morning...45 when we left our house to go to church. It is sunny, but colder than our average here. I know, nothing like my friends up north are dealing with, but it's cold for us Floridians! Being from the midwest, living in Florida for 15 years...the blood thins!

:lmao: When I was in high school in FL, I think we had a cold snap similar to that. One of my friends came to school in a head to toe Dophins Parka. 45 is the high on Friday in STL and I joked to a customer earlier today that we need to creak out the tanning lotions for our heat wave!:rotfl2:

Hello from the Williams Family!!! This will be our kids first cruise and my wife and my first cruise with Disney (twice on Carnival). I guess we couldn't have picked a better year to do this with the beautiful new ship The Dream. We are so excited to say the least. We haven't even told the kids yet but we keep playing the "we might go on the cruise" game and they are very excited.

We are Me (dad the planner), DW, DS (12), DS (11), and DD (11) twins. I'm super pumped we'll get to celebrate Halloween on the Dream as it's always been one of my families favorite fun holidays. My daughter thinks it's so cool people decorate the door and she's obsessed with the FE's but I'm trying to calm her on that because it makes me a little nervous. This group seems huge on here and I'd have no idea how many families would be involved with the FE's and how much time it would take to do it.

Anyway, I'll be checking back regularly. I already have our flights booked, we'll be renting a car from MCO the day before and staying at the Four Points Sheraton before the cruise and then when we come back we'll rent a car and drive to OKW and stay a night on our points. We're surprising the kids with a day at IOA Universal as my wife is a huge Harry Potter fan and we were just at WDW last Thanksgiving for 11 days (taken many, many trips before).

Sorry to ramble but I am very excited for the trip and looking forward to learning all about Disney cruising and THE DREAM!!!

Welcome Williams Family:

Yea more nanaheads!!!

My name is Denise and traveling with Wally. This is my 3rd Disney and Wally's 2nd Disney cruise......and we are sooooo ready for this cruise.
Looking forward to getting to know you in the next few months.

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I also remember when we first moved back to Missouri after living in Florida for over 10 years. It got really cold in St. Louis...about 35 degrees and I got out the winter coat. It was only September and now that I've gotten thicker blood...not really cold at all. But one would've thought it was the coldest day of my life. LOL :rotfl:

So I do understand how cold it feels in Florida when you get a cold snap and I truly sympathize. Hugs!

I too felt like I was freezing when we moved from Florida 3 years ago back to Oregon. We arrived the end of March and it snowed the next day:eek:
I didnt even own a warm coat or sweatshirt.
Next day I went to the store and got a warm heavy coat, 2 pairs of sweat outfits, boots and gloves. Then I was still cold on my legs so I got some long johns too.:lmao:

I still wear all those every wnter. Although I think I am starting to adjust back to cold weather some.

Our high today is 45, so not too bad. At least its still dry.

Hope everyones week is off to a good start,

Back later to see whose been around today,

Kathy

Morning everyone

I have been reading lots of trip reports about the Dream and lots of them seem negative. I just want to say to everyone who has never sailed on Disney, please don't let them discourage you. I have worked in the hotel industry and when a new property opens it always takes several months for them to work out the bugs...same with a new ship. I really am surprised that these well traveled people are expecting everything to be perfect. Anyway, it just wanted to reassure the new cruisers to not take everything to heart and panic and cancel their cruise like I have read people are doing.

Hey I have a cat. 09A gty room for this cruise. How soon do they give you your room assignments? Who else has any category gty room? And what should I expect fire those who have bored them before? I really just want the room number for FE purposes but I am sure I will have it before we set sail so we will all know.

I've had a gty before and didn't get my room number until I got my luggage tags, about 4 weeks before the cruise. However, I have read that if you check the DCL web site the room number might show up before you get your tags.

Your right Christine,
It was the same for the Wonder and Magic if you read any reports back then.Thats why w enever cared about being on a maiden voyage of any ship or even the first 3 to 4 months, they do have problems to work out reguardless of how hard they try, stuff just happens.

It should be great by October

That's exactly what happened to us. We went on the Liberty of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), had a gty room. I went to our reservations about 4 weeks out and from the morning when there was gty listed to the afteroon, I saw we had been given a cabin room number. I called my TA at the time and even she hadn't been notified yet of the assignment. The neat thing was ..it ended being a handicap room with balcony mid-ship AND mid-floors. It was so so awesome. Very, very spacious. :cool1:

But don't hold your breath you'll be given a handicap room. There was always the concern that our room would taken away for someone who needed it, which of course, is the reason for those rooms. However, I didn't have to pay the higher price for the stateroom b/c it was a gty balcony so and so category or better. Woot!!:woohoo:

I also think the earlier you book a gty room, the better room you'll end up with as they go down their lists, they fill those reservations first. Anyway, good luck to you. You'll get a great room for you and your family.

Terry

Hope everyone is having a great day today. :goodvibes

I'm just going through and reading the TR's out there for the Dream. I have to say, they for the most part sound great to me! I am still keeping my ressie for the Dream. :confused3 It's a brand new ship, kinda like a brand new car, they always have some kinks to work out with them.

Was sick yesterday, but feeling better today. Unfortunately DH is now sick today. Guess that means that DD will have it tomorrow. :sad2:

Terry, if I've missed the scrapbook post, please count me in!:thumbsup2

Have a great Tuesday everyone!
