HELLO everyone....I got lost :rotfl:just joking I know I've been gone awhile but life's been crazy!! I'm not sure when the last time I was on but I think it was in feb:confused3 I got a job (for fun) but have since quite:cool1: My DH travels a lot for work so I pretty much was doing the single mom thing...I was having a hard time getting everyone every where and it just didn't make sense for me to keep working.... I applaud all who do do it. Needless to say I back and trying to get caught back up. I'm sure i've missed tons but if anyone could let me know what i've missed or what I need to know, that would be GREAT! I will skim threw old post, I just don't want to miss anything.

We are planning on doing the FE and I know my youngest and my nephew want to do the trick or treat thing....where are we on that?

I"m really sorry to be such a pain But I'm so happy to be back!!!!!!!!

There is a Dis event with Capt Marvin's in Grand Cayman and Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. Think there are links on the 1st page I believe.

Oh I forgot! To everyone that answered my question about the $$$ and ports, I have now backed away from the bridge I was about to jump off of and am thinking about brighter things like ~Martgueritas~ (my vice) and ~sun~!

@to our Canadaians... This is why I have never traveled and mostly refuse to travel to California, I am terrified of earthquakes. In Florida, I was partying in some of the hurricanes. Not to mention, you can move out of the way! But earth moving under, not happening. Now in Canada! Me and father time are going to have to have a talk about that.

A couple of ideas I had, one is to give them a task to find a list of things within maybe 5 minutes, say for example something blue, something shiny, something that floats, a shell, something you can balance on your head.....

Another idea is to get them to take the first letter of their name and think of an animal, a country, and a food beginning with that same letter. The older kids can help out the younger ones if they get stuck.

I will keep thinking....

Perfect -- I've printed off this and tucked it away in the treasure hunt file! Sounds great that the older kids can help the younger ones too. Keep the ideas coming! We'll be putting the "tasks" on treasure maps that they get and once they complete the activity they will move on to the next map. These maps will be held by strategically placed Disers on the beach. We will recruit the "holders of the clues" once we get to Nachi.

Another one, draw a line in the sand say 50 yards away, and they each have to jump once to reach the finish line. The first child goes, then the second starts at the point the first child jumped to, and jumps as far forwards as they can, the third child starts in that spot, and they have to reach the finish line by each child taking one jump forwards. If that makes any sense??! They all have a to shout a pirate 'ooo-arrrr' when they jump!

I am trying to think of things they will be able to contribute to no matter what their age!

Great -- I've printed this one out too! Forgot to say that we are in need of some good "jingles" to describe the tasks as the children work through the ten treasure maps en route to their final one that describes where to find the buried loot. So if anyone wants to help come up with some good rhyming phases for the separate activities (sandcastle building, devising a pirate song, counting to ten in Spanish, searching for a list of things, and the kangaroo jumps to the finish line, and whatever else we come up with), please go for it and let me know either by PMing me or putting them here on our meets board! I'm sure there are some "poets who don't know it" out there!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

For Royfam and others who haven't seen posts in awhile: some of us are doing private planned excursions to Captain Marvins in GC and Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. There is more information on the first page of our forum. I think right now there are 58 going to CM (75 on the now large boat so still more room) and 79 going to NC (beach maxes out at 100 and they don't count kids 3 and under) so still some more room there too, we think. Judy is the lead on CM and I'm the lead on NC. We would love to have you join us if it fits into your vacation plans!:cool2::cool2::cool2:

"Lovely Cruise" by Buffet is a favorite of ours too. A more current song that we're hooked on is "Where The Boat Leaves From" by the Zac Brown Band, a Southern country group. Their latest CD (with the song on) is available at Cracker Barrel restaurants. We discovered the tune on Jimmy Buffets "Margaritaville" XM satellite station.

Did you know that Jimmy Buffett has been playing "Where The Boat Leaves From" on his current tour? Keep listening to RadioMargaritaville and you are bound to hear it on a concert replay. Cool song.:thumbsup2

We are drivng over from Orlando on the 30th. I have read that several of us will be making that same trip the morning of the cruise. I wonder if we need to leave earlier to account for air show traffic. Does anyone know how big of an event this is? I don't Facebook, but they have a page listed on their website. Maybe someone would like to ask that question, as well as if we will be able to view the show from the ship.

OMG.....Zac Brown Band is awesome and I have been listening to them for the last few months....Where the Boat Leaves From and Toes are my two favorite songs...they fit so perfectly with the cruise theme....

I honestly don't remember if I posted this yet or not on this thread but there is another thread out there with a ton o cruise music on it....here is the link. I made a playlist of at least 100 songs for my last pre-cruise party and it was a ton of fun....

Enjoy!!!

What characters are likely to appear at the breakfasts and when do we find out our dining rotations?

Here is the *Magic* formula for Character Breakfast. You (should) be scheduled for CB the sea-day morning after your first regular rotational seating in Animator's Palate.

Therefore:

APLAPLA has CB on SUNDAY
LAPLAPL has CB on MONDAY
PLAPLAP has CB on THURSDAY

So if you want your CB on a specific day you can call DCL or your TA and request the above rotation that will best fit your needs. It isn't guaranteed that you will get the rotation you request (our success rate in the past is 50/50) but don't forget you can also request rotation changes upon boarding in Rockin Bar D!

Of course this is info, as with all things DCL is subject to change. I won't reiterate my embarrassing spreadsheet story, suffice it to say we've had the normal rotation changed out from us before and ended up with CB on a Friday (CC day) but that was due to a cruise itinerary change! For normal cruises this is the pattern they have used for many years now. :thumbsup2

Glad to see you back!

FE and ToT are progressing. I believe we have pretty much decided how the ToT will work and (not to step on Leslie's toes since she isn't here) but it will be a short multi-stop scavenger hunt onboard. It is set for Monday (at sea) at 10:00 AM. This time may interfere with some Palo brunch schedules and possibly some late seating folk's character breakfasts. So we may want to discuss a time change to afternoon. It will only take about 15-30 mins to complete the route though, so I guess we'll just have to continue discussion on that one. :thumbsup2

I was reading a bit about it yesterday. It does seem quite large. I know when we have air shows at Mac Dill AFB here, they are HUGE and it does cause some traffic snarls in the immediate vicinity. So knowing the route into and out of PC, it is possible heavy volume could cause delays.

I am betting we will be able to see the show from the ship. We used to be able to see the MDAFB show from St. Petersburg: about 10 miles away across Tampa Bay!

Totally! I used WTBLF in my cruise video from our Jan cruise (still a work in progress) and I plan on using Toes in the one I make for this cruise (it just has more of a "western" than an "eastern" feel to me for some reason!) Love his music!!!

My new fave from them is "Whatever It Is". I had no idea who sung it when I first heard it. Doesn't have that beach/boats/island feel but is a beautiful song!

Yep! ^^Poor Ron decided to make a beer and bathroom run during our concert and he totally missed this song! He was quite upset about it!!
:rotfl2:

Here is a video of the two of them performing it from Atlanta recently. (actual song starts around 1:20)

Wow, thanks for sharing that video link! Jimmy and Zac sound GREAT together! :)

My friend, who makes cakes, beautiful cakes, made this one for my DS6's birthday party tomorrow. His actual birthday isn't until July 12th, but as friends are usually on Holidays by then, we have his party's at the end of June. The day will be spent at Pirate Adventures. I plan on taking lots of video of the event and hope to put together a DVD video with the footage. I thought the job my friend did was AWESOME! Tim wanted a "Mickey" Cake, and thus, he got one! :)
