I don't think I've signed us up. I'm sending my Disney Halloween fabric to Tiffany tomorrow for our FE!

I would love to handcraft something, but I'm not sure there's time.

We are Jennifer, Dan and Morgan (a Princess, not a Prince ;) ), who will be 10 at cruise time. I can't remember our stateroom number...Let me see if I can find it and post it later.

I'll try to answer some of these . . .
I bought our FE off of Ebay from gradys mommy (no space) - she did a beautiful job, good price and quick
however - you can do whatever you want - if it is just her participating you can get a bag from the Disney Store (similar to the reusable shopping bags at grocery stores) they currently have some cute princess options

you will get a list of all that are participating - we are waiting until the cut off date to decide if we will all be one group or need to split into smaller groups

check this out for more info:

Here is a direct link to one of those mentioned above. The lady who makes these (Tiffany) is wonderful! I have cruised with her twice before and she is a total sweetheart. She can make them in 2, 3, or 4 pockets and with custom fabrics and deisgns, you can totally pick how you want it (which colors and princesses- I believe she can even make the mickey heads princesses!!). And although my whole FE is not made by her, part of it is and I can vouch for her quality work. :thumbsup2

This is what's fun! You never know what you're going to get!! The most common FE gifts are candy and trinket toys like from Oriental Trading Co The kind of stuff kids get in gift bags at birthday parties. Other things are very common like glow sticks, pirate themed items like eye patches, bubbles, and temporary tattoos. You'll also find things adults can enjoy like pens, pencils, paper pads, and CD's of music. Some folks get really creative and handcraft items! :) Also it is fun to receive gifts that represent someone's hometown, like little bottles of maple syrup (Canada) or tabasco sauce (Louisiana) are two examples of this.

Here is a pic of (most if not all) of the FE gifts we got on our last cruise:

This is something usually decided by the group or the FE coordinator. It isn't all at the beginning, but deliveries (or "drops" as I like to call them) can occur either randomly (up to the giver when they make the drops)or on an assigned day. My personal preference is random- I love never knowing when you will find something new awaiting. Plus that way you aren't tied to a specific day or time cause you never know what will come up. (On my last cruise it took us 3 days to finish making all of our deliveries since every time we would go out, the baby would get cranky after a deck or two.) The only problem with that is everyone tends to make their deliveries earlier in the cruise when left up to them and then you don't get too much after say day 5 or so.

Yes, and I think it is Janice making a very cool map of each deck with the FE cabins clearly marked. The way we like to do it is start on Deck 8 aft and work our way forward, then take the fwd stairs down to 7 and work our way back aft. And repeat! It is actually a fun way to stroll the decks and check out all the door decorations too! :thumbsup2

Hope that helps! It's a lot of fun, I think Sarah would really get a kick out of it!

Hi Sarge!

Hopefully the info above will also help you with FE's!

As far as the magnets go, I second what Judy suggested with the cardstock. Magnetic paper is very expensive and can "bleed". Kids would touch our magnets walking by our door and this smudged the ink and then they were wiping their inky fingers on other magnets, the door, and the walls! (Not all magnet paper does this but it can happen). We didnt even laminate our last magnets made on cardstock and they still looked and held up nicely! (just place the magnets near the corners of the design to prevent the corners from curling.

For designs check out Post 1 of this thread, the logos are there plus a link to several designs already made up for this cruise by Judy! :thumbsup2 And if you ahven't seen THIS THREAD before...well...enjoy! :goodvibes

Thank you very much, both of these posts were very helpful. Count Sarah in! Thank you. Jeff

I was bored and decided to look up my reservation with DU, and then day-dream a little while I'm looking at the Disney website(some hater huh). :surfweb: The cruise has been paid off for about 4 months now, may be less. What did I find? Not a balance but a credit! Honestly, I'm a little confused atm. :confused3(at the moment) I want to believe that (105.00) means +105. The reason why I don't to believe this is happening is because we have had a little bit of a rough patch with some car repairs that could be costly ($1000+) and messing up our vacation. I told my wife we need a little luck. Writing Dreams U tomorrow could be interesting, but I'm still shocked. Although, I'm not sure what to say. I don't subscribe and sorta want deny to the pixie dust theory:wizard:, but a couple more things like this and may be the luck will come. *crossfingers*

I am not sure DU does, but when I book with AAA they give me an onboard credit - maybe that is what you are seeing . . . I'm crossing my fingers for you! :surfweb:

May be that you had the charge for fuel and when you paid it off that charge was not being charge. That would give you a credit. Here is just a little extra pixie dust to help you along.

Here's a photo of the FE I made for my family for our cruise last fall. I'm making the same one for another of our DIS family here, and have enough fabric for 2 or possibly 3 more. If anyone would like me to make on for them, and can wait till boarding day to receive it (but I can send a photo of your completed FE before then), I'll do it for you. It would only cost you a drink on board and spreading the word. :) (JKS Wonder, same for you). I never got the mickey heads on the ends of mine, but will have them on the ends of all the FE's this time around. You can decide which color mickey head you'd like, though I prefer black. Just pm me if I can help you out. :)

Wow! You did a beautiful job on that. Obviously you are talented in more than one area.

Maybe I will actually try :lmao: to do one for DH and me this trip. Now would be the time to pick out needed items since I have current Joanne coupons. Have to go there anyway to get patterns on sale for costumes. Does it take much time when you first make one?

I did mine in a day. The long lengths for the backing were easy to do since you just make a snip at exactly 8 inches, and then just tear it the rest of the way. When done along the bias, it tears evenly all the way down! The pockets took a little more work. I ironed the folds into the pockets then straight stitched the bottoms of them to the backing. Then straight stitched the bias tape (black), across the top of each pocket and then more of that all the way around the whole perimeter. I made the Mickey heads with the names via my graphics program, and printed them out onto iron on sheets, and applied them to the pockets. Perhaps it doesn't sound so easy, but really it was. :)

So who is off to see TWILIGHT's ECLIPSE tonight? Ok, I admit it, I'm a huge Fan! Can't wait till next week, so I'm taking my chances on opening night and finding good seats. Taking DS12 too, as he begged to go! :)

We are going tonight at 10! I'm hoping since we chose a later time, that it will be a little less crazy. We are going to get there an hour early.

I went to the movies last night to see the A Team and the crowds at 7:00 pm for the 12:01 showings of Eclipse were out the theatre door....they were all just sitting around waiting for seats (these were people who already had their tickets). One of the ushers said some were there since early in the day. I will probably go this weekend.

Could anyone pm the latest fish extender list to me? I would like to order something for the kids tonight, but don't have the list.

Thanks

I don't have the latest version yet, but Leslie usually sends it to our emails (it is an excel spreadsheet). Why don't you send her a PM with your addy?Just to make sure you are aware, the deadline to sign up is 8/29, 2010 (but I keep asking for the latest and greatest as well).

Not your whole family? Although fun for the kids, it's not just for them, so if the rest of you, including your teen daughter would like to participate, you are all more than welcome to. :) On our cruise last fall, my then 18 and 16 yr olds loved the gift exchange. They thoroughly enjoyed their little treats and gifts, and helped me deliver our to all the other participants.

Did anyone decide on their MnSsHp tickets yet? I know we budgeted it for about 185 so when they came out to $200. I can live with i, but we are still undecided. Anyone have thoughts?

Oh and

Happy Canada for the Canadians.

Yeah, probably a good idea to include Catherine as well. I am sure you're right that both will enjoy getting the goodies. ;)

We got tickets for Tuesday, 10/28/10, and made an early dinner reservation at The Plaza. Thought about picking up the tickets when we were down there recently, but decided they are safer in their hands rather than ours. That would just be one more thing to remember to pack.

Last year was the 1st we attended, and were very impressed. I know that folks say that it isn't what it used to be, but we have nothing to compare it to. Decided we had to do it again since we don't know when we will be there for it again.
